I am SO THRILLED with how my new automatic irrigation system is running in my garden! It has taken a few years of experimenting to really understand all these components and which ones work best for the plants I'm trying to grow. As always, I'll continue to make tweaks and adjustments based on what I'm seeing, but I'm thrilled with the early results.
As promised, here are all the products and components that I am utilizing:
MuckBoots (use code mindandsoil10): 2ly.link/1yiuf
4Way Automatic Splitter Timer: 2ly.link/1yiug
Watering Spikes: 2ly.link/1yiuh

Great video. It can be very confusing getting started with these systems. It’s nice to see a breakdown like this. Thank you sir!

Thanks so much! Yeah I am thinking actually doing a beginner video of it where I spent more time on all the components and actually show how to connect all them, program the timer, etc.!

Excellent video. Now I am inspired to connect a drip system to the main lines that are curranty in the raised planters. Thanks for adding the volume of water and times.

I like your setup. Couple of suggestions; If you want to turn off a single emitter put a short 1/4" hose with an oops plug. Also you can increase the amount of water for any emitter or hose by extending the watering time on that zone. Obvious suggestions but I didn't hear you mention them. My garden is set up on 1 zone but I fully intend to change that next season.

Great video, Jord - thanks for the link. Clear and concise. I like how you used different types of irrigation for different areas. Never thought to run a double timer. That's really smart! I'm still not clear whether the 4 runs of 1/4" with 6" emitters or the 3 runs of 1/2" with 12" emitters are doing better in my raised beds. Looks about the same right now. Although, with this heat, everything is doing well. Looking forward to watching more.❤

It took you 2 months to set this up! Oooow, probably i should get splitter , timer and long drip tape to simplify the process.

Loved the video...I've just started watching your channel. Quick question: do you practise crop rotation? If so, are you going to move each of the "watering systems" to follow the crops that it is watering. For example, in zone 1 you have the emitters spaced for every tomato plant, however, in Zone 2 (where your carrots are), you use 1/4" tubing. Therefore, when you move the tomatoes to another bed, the watering systems would have to move along with the them. etc. Not sure if that is clear?? Thanks!!

How did you connect the half inch line for your tomatoes to the main line? I have the barbs to go from half inch to quarter but nothing for half to half. Can you put the two gallon emitter into a quarter inch tubing instead?

Thank you very much, very informative as always. I have been using a similar system myself :) Question: What do you do for the winter? Do you take it all apart and store or just close it off and leave it? Thanks!
@MindandSoil

Great q! I leave it all in place and just remove the automatic timer which I bring inside. A lot of people will then blow their lines with compressed air but I haven't even done that in past years and have not had any issues (as they're not pressurized so the water has space to expand when it freezes as is)

I have always dome the same - turn off the tap and bring the timers in but I just learnedy that it's recommended to remove the tap splitters over winter too. I have to replace 2 this season (leaking even when closed) and like the splitt er you're using (adding a new bed) The link isn't working for several of the products you use - can you share the brand you have. Thanks...great info. Always adapting as plants and beds change so good to see other options.

What happens if you move plants next year? Do you need to keep plants in the same place every year? And does the system need to be blown out for the winter, and if so, how?

Why is the brand of the irrigation timer Vigoro in your video but the link is to a Melnor brand one? Do they work the same and/or are programmed the same? 😊😊

Like the 1/4" Drip line that I use?
@jimwinthrop839

I use 3/4 garden hose to supply the system and would like to add a fertilizer mixer at that point because my drippers go 4 inches below the surface, which reduces evaporation.

Another question. My water pressure runs 35psi to 68psi. Do you use a regulator or adjust all the sprinklers constantly ?
