It's because the entry wage of £70k a year for premier league referees isn't that high to a southerner. Up north its a lot more lucrative cos of the cost of living.

In Cricket there is the Duckworth Lewis method if the whole match is not played. Something similar here can be worked out. Like penalising the offending team and rewarding the other team or keeping it fair without replays.

Moreover bents point makes no sense - there’s a different saying that games in future should be replayed when there’s a clear and obvious error and historic games should now be replayed.

Retired players from league one and two should be fast tracked to become referees , the reason being that these guys have never played the game at any level ,and are more like school teachers ,where as ex pros know all the tricks of the trade the dark arts included ,the game would flow as the players would recognise that the ref would'nt be fooled so easily.

Been saying exactly this since last season. There is too much room for bias with Manchester officials officiating City games and taking charge of Arsenal and Liverpool games!

This laughably makes sense for me. When you watch the same England referee handling a game in CL, Europa, Euros or World Cup, their calls are a lot more honest and more neutral. In England, the same ref is suddenly damn near incompetent. Why? Due to inherent bias and because he can get away without punishment 99% of the time in England! 👎🏽
