I have tried straight paint inside the clear ornaments and slowly swirled it around. The paint took over a week to dry!! And the color was splotchy. On other ornaments I put a coat of varnish inside then add some fine glitter and shake around; works much better than paint. Nice work!!

Acrylic polymers are made to seal a surface and protect it from water and other substances. When you mix it with chalk paint it will prevent the water in the chalk paint from evaporating. The sealer is meant to be applied on dry paint. If you want a thinner paint, just add a small amount of water, rather than the sealer. Cheers!

Thank you! I wondered why other crafters used the polycrylic instead of watering down the paint so I wanted to try it for myself. I still don’t know why they use it, what you said makes perfect sense to me. Thanks!

@@lindadianedesigns1808 your ornaments are absolutely beautiful and I love the idea of glazing the inside. You could use a product called GAC. GACs can be blended with Acrylic Paints to extend the paint, regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity. The GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces. These play much better with acrylic paints than the poly coat that you used in my experience. Why are you poly coat didn’t work with your chalk paint because they don’t play nice together. They’re chemically incompatible to be used as a glaze, and this combined with a limited airflow could cause this. So to the consistency of your chalk paint is much thicker than regular acrylic craft paint. Just thought since you asked for some information, I thought I’d share what I know. I hope this is of some help. Here is the brand I have use that I’ve been very successful with. I’ve use this on canvas, but I’ve also use this as a glaze to mix with different types of acrylic paint, including craft, paint, and chalk paint. The brand is called Golden and here’s some more information for you about the product and its uses from the manufacture. I think if you’re really going to invest the time and effort that you do into your craft/Art and sell then, or you may want these to be around between hand to the next generation. Lindai, on the pink ornament when I did mine you put your paint and use floor wax to mix with it. I shook me floor wax up first. They have been done about 6 years and still looks great ! You might want to check Google for that

I'm only halfway into the video, but I LOVE the bell ornament with the deer! White wax scares me (because I mess it up every time) but I'll try it again. I have also had issues with getting them to dry with mod podge , mop n glo, glue, everything everyone has suggested has taken forever to dry so have no idea what to do different lol. I think everyone leaves off that detail and we are all just winging it. It is beautiful I wouldn’t think anything would grow in polycrylic it should be just fine ❤

Have you guys tried using a heat gun or hair dryer to get them to dry inside? Try it on low heat and constantly moving it so you don't melt the ornament... I live in Southeast Texas and can't even use DIY liquid patina clear decopauge medium, because it stays tacky indefinitely (maybe the humidity?) Polycrylic should dry super fast in a thin layer, with plenty of air getting to it so not sure what happened but I'd try the above tip! I had to wipe off the liquid patina with a baby wipe and start over with poly cuz it had been days and it never dried. These ornaments are STUNNING by the way! ❤

Linda do you have a printer that scans? I took the same designs I liked in that transfer book. After I put them on the wood piece and it turned out so I print them out.
