Hearing that the nether isn't tall enough to kill the warden with fall damage even with dripstone really puts its health pool into perspective

@@travcollier because it's not meant to be killed, that's why the health is so high, and the way you "defeat" it is by taking the loot without it killing you

Yep just did the math: Fall damage is the number of blocks fallen -3 the nether is 228 blocks tall and the drip stone doubles the damage meaning the maximum fall damage in the nether is 450 where as the warden has 500 health!

@@goiterlanternbase assuming you can actually see it... They have a nasty habit of spawning before you actually get to the open area. Oh, and they shoot through walls.

Since they actually replaced Bedrock with some darker variant of Stone and moved Bedrock to fucking negative y value, I think we can expect literally everything now.

Another reason to build the farm is to prevent wardens from spawning in everywhere else. I could see that being a big problem for tunnel boars and the like

It drops Sculk Catalyst, so it's obviously not for the xp, but for the drop.

actually, killing wardens is the ONLY renewable way to get sculk catalysts in Minecraft, and if building the farm is THAT easy ig sculk catalysts are really worth it

It’s a pretty inefficient XP farm, but it’s very easy to make and you get skulk catalysts. I think the only real reason for the farm is for the skulk catalysts

Why does the Warden only drop 5xp? The thing is a serious pain to deal with in the wild. 25 or more xp would seem way more fair.

there is a video on the water one and you only need 1 observer, 2 water buckets and 2 dispensers and a few redstone (the water is placed and the warden coming out of the ground is pushed into the water

I have an idea, you mention that sculk shriekers have a global 10-second cooldown. In theory, does that mean if we forever activate a sculk striker every 10 seconds in one area that will prevent Warden spawning overall? That could be a vanilla Minecraft warden switch

@@le0t0rr3z shouldn't be hard to implement the shrieker block at all afk farms. If it's a global cool-down of the shrieker, not just for successful warden spawning attempts, then you can use the ones you picked up

@@katoshi6464 yes, for warden spawning. We're talking about potentially using the global 10-second cooldown of shriekers triggering in the first place to prevent warden spawns entirely. Placed ones still activate, they just won't spawn wardens

I called it! I bloody called it! I was tellin ppl on a discord server ages ago that ppl were gonna farm the warden, and they kept tellin me stuff like "no they won't, it's unfarmable" or "why would they bother, it (at the time) has no drops" but I knew. I knew ppl were gonna farm it! :D

First off: Mango, du bist doch verrückt ;) The update isn't even a week old, Mojang has been going on and on about how they want the Warden to be this great and scary end-game challenge and we get three farm designs that all look less complicated to build than an auto-cooking chicken farm. Not to mention the general amount of content lately. You're absolutely rocking it and I for one am absolutely loving it. Also, I'm hyped about the upcoming tutorial channel. This might be what gets me back into actually playing the game versus just consuming media and considering playing it. Now that I'm done with my fanboyism, quick question for anyone who read this far ;) If one wanted to kill the Warden using fall damage, could you use farm B if you were willing and able to remove some bedrock and build an encased drop chute starting somewhere above the roof through most of the Nether?

Ilmango said at 5:22 it needs to fall 260blocks + ontop of dripstone. The nether is only 255 blocks high.

​@@ToPi167 Wouldn't it be possible to shoot it upwards with a piston+slime block at the height limit? AFAIK slime blocks should be able to send it up like 6 blocks, which might make it barely enough.

I can maybe see a point to having them fall a bit then have cramming finish the job but honestly adding complexity to kill slightly faster without impacting spawn rates seems odd. If you are going for just an epic farm not focused on min/maxing might as well just drop the warden more than once or have a portal start above the nether roof ro something.

@@zebedeesummers4413 I think dropping it at all is ridiculously overcomplicating things, but I'm not interested in actually making a farm like that. I'm just clarifying it is indeed possible, albeit technically, to have the warden drop a sufficient amount of height in the nether. Not arguing for practicality.

@@ToPi167 Well theoretically you could kill it with fall damage + dripstone. You could essentially use the water flushing method to get them into the portal, in the nether do the same thing to flush them into another portal that is linked to the overworld at build limit and flushed out to fall damage keeping the wardens and drops near the afk spot.

A tutorial channel! What a good idea! I do miss your tutorials ;-) I mean, now I learned to use litematica now, so I'm not sure to continue following the tutorials. But your tutorials did help me a lot when I rejoined Minecraft after ~6 years of stop, to catch up with the new technologies and discoveries!

Id say most important use for this is that with the global 10 second cooldown, you could basically make a warden switch (mob switch for wardens) This means the most important feature of a farm like this would be lag friendlyness.

@@Markus-zb5zd Wouldn't that have to happen within the same game tick? Sure a 1/200 chance every 10 seconds doesn't seem like a lot, but in practical terms, you could pretty safely run around the deep dark without much worry

Just built the future proof flushing one in my singleplayer survival world only using this video as a reference. Works like a charm, but I gotta say, it's the most stressful farm to AFK at, seeing the warden spawn above you isn't something I'm used too!! Might upgrade it with a chunk loader + piston, clock and arrow later to stop wardens from spawning while I try to find an ancient city (no luck so far). Thanks Ilmango, great farm once again! Also built your brown mushroom swamp slime farm recently and I love it!

I just did the same, but the warden literally wont spawn? He grunts like he wants to spawn and then nothing happens. I am very confused. I have tried removing the observer too just to see if he would spawn on those blocks but he wont. No clue whats happening.

Thanks for the tutorial! I think it will be very difficult building it in survival maybe that could be a good mini series!! Also thinking that the water pushing one can send them to the nether so it will also be future proof :D

Hiya! If you intend on making this in survival you should surround the shrieker in wool first to dampen the sound thus stopping wardens from spawning while you build!

This is a very easy build. There’s not much to it, doesn’t take a lot of resources and doesn’t require a mob or villager. It’s a pointless farm but an easy one to build nonetheless.

Above deep dark will be a good place for regular mob farms as we don't need to light up deep dark caves.

Tried the 3rd design. Warden was chilling in the glass. But added a second layer of fence gates and an observer powered noteblock. One or both did the trick of getting the big guy to the top

I think you could quite easily double spawnable places therefore slightly improve efficiency by mirroring the spawn platform on the other side of the bubble elevator. But it would make farm bit more effort to built and it might not be worth it for just 2% gain.

They always got stuck on the row of stone wall and there is long delay required now. Instead of all the dispersers, use one sticky piston and push them into the water column across blue ice. The wardens can spawn in string, so use tripwire to turn on the slime block bumper so it repeatedly pushes them, they fly at light speed into the water elevator lol

The last one, could you have the spawning platform mirrored on the back so you have two platforms of 2x11 each? or does the range of the shreiker not extend far enough for that since it wouldn't be placed in the middle beneath the bubble column?

That was my first thought as well, just mirror it, could potentially use the same bubble column for the second pad. As to spend twice the time making it, how long will you be using it compared to building it? You only build it once. And it's a fairly small build, though avoiding triggering the warden while building is a thing.

The back side of the bubble column includes the bit for pulling the warden in. If you've got the other side open, they'll get stuck on the first block

As we can see in his sky block series, Warden can sniff player on first design even through wool blocks. I don't know why, but it can be intended.

you could probably just build a second 2x11 platform on the other side with the same flooding mechanism which will essentially make it a 4x11 platform and the 2 sides can flush them into the same killing chamber so that you don't have to build 2 chambers with 24 minecarts.

So... aside from use as a specialized item farm, this is mostly useful for preventing wild wardens from spawning. The global cooldown means that unless someone gets the timing *just* right, running this farm constantly means someone else isn't likely to accidentally spawn a Warden while exploring the Deep Dark.

Yk i get that this farm doesn’t have a whole lot of reasons to being built, like the blocks you get are for a very niche purpose. But I feel like this mob is so badass that I’d build it just to prove a point to all the other wardens in the world

the blocks you get from it give a LOT of xp when broken. you can gain 30 levels in about 30 seconds by placing / breaking them. better than xp bottles in terms of portable xp.

I think u can increase the 354 just a bit by copying right 2 water streams on the left of the main channel, it would reduce the amount of trys catalyst is doing to spawn warden, plus 1% increase that 20 tries wont fail

You can probably, just make the holding area noisy using redstone. So they won't despawn

Technically if you wanted, the same shrieker could service 2 of those spawning platforms facing opposite directions, so you could have 2 of the 2x11 platforms for near perfect odds. Not that it matters, but technically would increase the rates over an extremely long period of time

Does the shrieker cooldown work on manually placed shriekers, or only on the ones that naturally generate? Like, if you make a manual one shriek, do the natural ones need to wait?

I said this the first time the Warden was introduced in the live announcement, "Leave it to the redstoners to farm this thing." Doesn't matter how many counter-measures Mojang will add to make the Warden a threat to the base gameplay, redstoners are just on another level

are you able to use a skulk catalyst to generate a skulk shrieker out of the deep dark or will it still not spawn a warden even if a shrieker is generated by a catalyst placed by a player.

If you want to avoid the lag from entity cramming you could probably have the warden walk to another portal that brings him back high enough in the overworld... But that's alot of portals so not sure if it would be worth it... Does the warden spawning animation trigger a portal under the ground? Could also work in case Mojang removes spawning in it...

Can you build a warden farm with portals so it’s instant and make a chunk loader then go to a second ancient city and then you can’t spawn a warden because the cooldown is active

@@ilmango "A lot of effort to get 1.7% more" sometimes seems like the core philosophy of SciCraft. But I'm sure by the time SciCraft updates, you'll have found some trick with deleting the tile entity or weird portals or something to bypass the 10 second cooldown

​@@ilmango Unless I'm mistaken I think you could reuse the bubble column, you'd only be doubling the spawn platform and triggering mechanism, and that shouldn't take too much effort. I mean, gathering the obsidian for half the portal farm would take way longer than the time it'd take to gather the resources and build the second half of the last farm. Probably even including a separate bubble column.

For the last farm you shown, wouldn't it be possible to create a mirrored farm behind the other one? You can even re-use the same kill-chamber I assume. However, not sure if it's worth doubling the materials required for a 1-2% buffed drop rate
