I was thinking from my old engineering days that this radiator wasn't big enough the moment I saw it. I might have a custom one built later on but for now I followed the same process you did - get it sorted out and functional first. The radiator shop I found is outstanding in their workmanship and could build a radiator that would physically fit but would dissipate more heat. Funny you mentioned Germany...my subframe is bent and I thought about options to straighten and/or repair. Then I found on near mint - from Germany!! It's on the way and should be here in the coming weeks.

@@KensWorldRestorations They say, "Great mind think alike" 🤣🤣 Germany does seem to have lots of used parts for these (and other) bikes, but they charge like a wounded bull, and shipping, at least to NZ, is outrageous.

@@uhtred7860 Hahaha!! I missed that - charge like a wounded bull!! So true. I saw it on eBay Germany and noticed I could bid on it so I bid $30 below asking price. Their counter offer was $4 below their original price. Hard to negotiate when I need it. The subframe showed up a few weeks ago and it is nice and straight. Or maybe it's LGBQT...I guess we're not allowed to assume that it's straight.

Thanks - yep. Got it. It was mentioned in another comment and I really appreciate that. I’ve got an order in with CMSNL and have a lot of OEM Yamaha NOS bits coming soon, including the spring and washer for the oil filter.

Yeah...suspiciously clear. The spring and washer (on the oil filter shaft) are missing too. So many things out of order...but it's getting there. Figured out why it was only running on 2.25 cylinders - 2 left carbs had some corrosion on the brass idle circuit tubes. Thanks for that - very kind of you. I ended up downloading DaVinci Resolve for free. What you get for free is astonishing - can't believe they give it away. I'm still trying to figure it out but I'm watching a lot of YT videos on how to make better videos!! Hahaha!! I only recently found out what a "colour space" is and also found out that my iPhone and Nikon use different colour space. Hopefully I won't look so green next time.

I'll keep you posted. For now I'm just using stock hose that I'll cut and fit to shape just to get the engine running.

Previous owner and 10-15 years of sitting. But yeah, we've all messed up when it comes to this sort of thing. I've now got a list of over 120 fasteners, collars & grommets that all need replacing. I don't think there's one single nut or bolt on this bike that's gonna survive the restoration. The person who did the last oil change forgot the filter compression spring & washer also...that stuff just drives me crazy...

Good eyes. It was “suspiciously” clean. For a bike that sat for over 10 years, it was pretty obvious that the seller changed the oil without running the bike. Not sure if he was trying to hide something or not…
