How to bleed any vq35de/rev up properly using Minimal tools. I’ve seen so many issues people have with overheating/ no heat issues. I thought this would make for a good video and clear the air. If not done this way there is 100% going to be air pockets in the system.

For anyone having issues I did mine a while ago and I'm gonna have to do it again in like two days haha new Thermo and rad going in lol yay me. But for bleeding I found it really easy to follow the service manual instructions. I didn't completely open the bleeder though just unscrewed enough to where you hear air escaping. Then basically got a rock and pressed the gas pedal to the specified 3000 rpms. Squeezing hoses helps. And then sit back and drink a beer and something and watch the bleeder an temp. Didn't take long when I started doing it like that. But took like 6 normal cycles for me before that. Great video man!

Another thing you can do is fill radiator and suspend the coolant overflow from hood latch and take cap off fill reservoir half way while radiator cap is on radiator and bleed it that way. Will see bubbles in the overflow reservoir that’s from air bleeding off. This way you don’t have to mess with bleeder screw.

So I’ve been having a issue with mine I’ve been trying to bleeding it for like a week now and I keep getting air and it dumps into my overflow tank, I replaced my thermostat and hoses also installed the bleeder valve because I got a motor swap and it just had a heater hose connector. Do you believe it’s just air in the system? Because my head gasket is fine and everything else is fine

hey man im a really big fan , and i have a 350z project i just put and brand new swap in it and im having trouble bleeding the system i followed ur procedure and my thermostat isnt opening and car is blowing cold air at idle and at temperature and if i rev it it will start to over heat and the funnel will over flow and spill everywhere, and for some reason only my driver side fan is working the passenger one doesnt work now and i feel like its leaking a lil from the passenger side of the radiator, like when i didn’t replace the thermostat before the car will run fine for a good 1hr30 and then if i take it for a test run and back then it will start to overheat and blow cold air and now that i changed the thermostat its not opening and the car overheats faster now so and when i tryd pouring coolant , no coolant came out of the bleeder screw 😕

lone_soldier22 I had to bleed the system even more I was at it for about an hour before hot air started coming out. So I would turn the car on with the heater on let it come up to temp then once it was up to temp I turned it off bled the system then would turn the car on for about 10 seconds but while I had it on I was revving it to about 3k then turn it off bleed the system, then back on for another 10 seconds revving the car and bleed it and I repeated this until the heat started to come out. Even once heat come out make sure you keep going till the air is really hot and bleed it till there’s absolutely no bubbles and it was good to go and I haven’t had any issues since. If there’s still bubbles you aren’t done

I was having an over heating problem with my g35 also. I replaced the thermostat but it still kept overheating. The mechanic took off the spring on the thermostat so the water is constantly running through now. The thermostat we got from Autozone was different from the original but it’s supposed to be for a g35..but I see everyone else’s is different as well and seems to work fine. But just not my car. A new radiator was put on and was bleeded as well while installing the new thermostat. What you suggest? Should I find an original thermostat? It’s about to be winter and I can’t just get up and go in my car.
@Justindrifts
@Justindrifts 4 жыл бұрын
Ramiro Rangel you never want to run no thermostat or remove spring because hot coolant will just continue to circulate and not cool down as it’s designed. Mishimoto, and nismo have oem replacements and are very good thermostats I would look into those. Bleed it 100% and you’ll be good to go. The heat should be hot at idle Thant’s when you know you’re done.

Just a quick question why would the thermostat open if the pressure and temperatures were the same on both sides it supposed to regulate when the temperature reaches a certain temperature which also means it's reached a certain pressure to collapse the spring ,it's not electronic it's mechanical if you were able to hold the thermostat ,pour that water in, i still doubt that test would work.. who taught you that ?.. i'm here looking for a solution for overheating in the g35... i wasn't on here to rip on you.. i still appreciate you posting information.. if that really works i'm sorry but i'm really mechanical...
@Justindrifts

The heat is what collapses the spring and opens the thermostat at certain point. This was a 170 thermostat so anything over 170 degrees will open. It’s a very viable way to check.

@Justindrifts 5 жыл бұрын
Just put on radiator cap once coolant is full turn it on with reservoir elevated and leave plastic cap off reservoir. You will see bubbles in the coolant reservoir as it’s bleeding

Most likely flash boiling, or not bled entirely. Have you checked compression or leak down tested to make sure it’s not a blown head gasket?

hey the idiot owner before me stripped the bleeder, I bought a new one but I can't get the old one off (it has stupid screw clamps instead the squeezy kind), what would you recommend me do to bleed it and regain heat? I can provide pics

Sic Semper if bleeder is stripped can loosen or tighten with pliers.

@@Justindrifts i ended up getting the entire bleeder off and replaced it with a new one this morning. i gotta another question though, ive been filling with coolant, and turned on the heat but the coolant is boiling out of the rad and nothing is coming outta the bleeder. no hot air btw.

Sic Semper is car elevated? Is thermostat 100% good? Even if it’s new it’s always best to test it.
@SicSemperBeats

Justin Drifts yep it’s elevated and it’s 100% new. I shoulda tested it in hot water before hand but I’ve already got it fully installed. Should i keep adding more coolant
@Justindrifts

Sic Semper process will take between .5 to 1 hr be patient and it will work smoothly if thermostat is good. This procedure has worked with myself, others and my customers at the shop.

It’s a lengthy process to fully bleed. Or can get a vacuum bleeder in later videos I show the vacuum bleeder it’s a true game changer.

@@royrodezno2563 this video is still relevant to hr or vhr. Just pick up a bleeder valve from z1 cut heater line and attach it and you can bleed as needed. On hr and vhr there is a bleeder port on drivers side in front of air box behind plastic front core support on the backside.
