I just realized that Allays can pick up light blocks, which could possibly mean that they would have dynamic lighting with OptiFine. This would be a huge change, you could basically go mining with a shield while the Allay follows you, holding the torch.

So they spawn in the woodland mansion and outpost prisons, so my theory is that they’re a peaceful variant of the Vex almost like how the vex help the illagers, the allay help the villagers, so the illagers imprisoned them

As a villager and bee slave owner, i can't express enough how ecstatic i am to add another species to my portfolio that can do actual labor.

Shulker bullets are somehow involved in reproduction. This means they must *really* like Steve and they are probably quite surprised when he kills them

The Alleys being found in cages in Illager structures like the mansion and outposts brings some rather interesting lore implications to the table. There's a possibility that the illagers capture them and are turned into the Vexes seeing as they are trapped within cages like Iron Golems sometimes in Pillager Outposts. Also the Alley is going to make chopping down large amounts of trees and collecting the items less of a hassle since they'll be able to collect the saplings and logs as soon as they are chopped or once leaves decay.

Since first seeing the Allay's reveal on Minecraft Live, I sort of saw the Allay as a friendly Vex, or maybe even a Vex before becoming corrupted by the Illagers. This would make sense on why they are trapped in Illager-specific structures (towers, mansions). Presumably to be transformed into Vex later on (in Minecraft semi-lore, of course) Also, something interesting I found out (correct me if this was already discovered) was that the definitions of their names are polar opposites: Vex is to invoke fear or worry in someone. Allay is to diminish or rid of fear or worry in someone. Are Vexes and Allays one in the same??

Mojang has recently been doing a lot of sound related stuff don't you think? The skulk is probably the first update to be sound related, after maybe villager mechanics to bells, and now we have got three progressive features all in the same update that react to sound; skulk, warden and allay.

I love this, but two things, 1: We need the ability to put helmets on Allays 2: While you don't specify how to tame an Allay, if they just follow you till the end of time there need to be a way to have them leave you alone

I wonder if this method could be used to stop items from despawning. Similar to how dolphins can be used in large sorting machines to reset the item despawn timer so it can continue around the circuit

The whole combat changes is starting to make sense now, we might actually get to use the off-hand in a year or two!

I think its best to keep building and destroying on the actual screen, but have interactions with certain mobs be seperate buttons on the side simultaneously

I hope the controls are highly customisable like other mobile games. Some people might prefer a D-pad or the buttons being in a different place.

I think a huge plus to allays soawning in the mansion is many players don’t load it in until late game so it should not be a “need-a-new-world” type feature Also I think the allay particle IS the scull particle

The changes to controls seem like even more of a hint that the combat update 2 is coming relatively soon, since these changes may allow for adding java's offhand to bedrock

Finally! As a casual mobile gamer, I love this! It really was painful to see that huge AAA battle royale games had these amazingly natural and comfortable controls that were endlessly customizable, while literally the best selling game of all time didn’t even have a joystick on mobile; and was instead stuck with these weird uncomfortable button controls that just made everything more difficult. I voted for the copper golem. I agreed that the Allay was the more useful option, but I saw it as more risky to have it turn out right. With a big concern being how one finds them. With this beta that concern is decreased, I like them spawning in the woodland mansion/pillager outposts. still want my button pushing robotic overlords though.

Yea, I've heard theories that the Alleys in minecraft are kinda like minecraft Vexs. Now that I see the Allets with the Minecraft illagers, it seems to support that they are a vex of some sort, like, related. They're kinda like souls also. Like soul sand.

I really like the allay, it’s really cute. But I also wish they have a little lighting.. maybe some particle effects? They look a little weird without it, as they have have the gradient colouring but don’t glow, which is confusing.

The allay sounds like the mob we should have voted for last time. It sounds so useful for sorting, maybe a machine that automatically uses droppers and note blocks to sort.

The alley just feels like a less reliable hopper to me. Atleast I could use the copper golem as decoration.

the allay looks like its going to be a lot of fun to play with in the game when it officially comes out. currently their flying animation looks a little odd and not very smooth (im aware its a beta/snapshot) but i hope it becomes smoother and maybe looks a little like how phantoms fly. their mechanics are also very interesting, and i know it will be very fun and helpful!

I hope that in the deep dark cities that actually is a portal. A portal to a fae dimension containing wild snow golems, the alchemist (that old unimplemented green villager) corrupted areas (with wild vexes and silverfish and origin of the sculk and warden) and little allay mushroom/hildafolk towns as well as some very magic new content- maybe some more as to how the stronghold-builders learned to access the end, maybe another type of end portal in this fae dimension.

I LOVE how the Allay spawns. Giving new use to existing structures as well as some fun quasi-lore.

I think I’ve seen a few Java commands that are SUPER helpful on the wiki for Bedrock commands. Certain ones such as “Attribute adding” such as just flat out increasing the speed or health damage, maybe knockback of something without a potion effect, and another which allows you to manipulate items called “/Item.” Or /Team, which can help with making deathmatch games, and /bossbar to make custom bosses.

I can already see a lot of players dying to vindicators because they were distracted by allays.

As someone who plays a lot of mobile Minecraft I am excited for new controls. I have tried out the new options and I think definitely a lot of work needs to be done with them before it's easy and intuitive but it's exciting nonetheless

a cool feature would be if you give an allay a note block they will play random notes or a song or something

So the allays are actually useful, for once gathering undead mob drops outside your home will be easy

My theory is that allay is the original species and the illagers captured them and imprisoned them. They turned them into vexes with their magic and they use them for battles. The villagers capture them in their small jails and then they transport them to the mansions with the big jail cells. Maybe in the future we will see a feature of the evokers turning them into vexes. Maybe that's also the reason why vexes and other illagers dont attack them because they need them to create vexes

so they can spawn in outpost cages and mansion prisons, are they also gonna finally put a use to the empty stronghold prisons? also all these structures are pretty rare, they should also be able to spawn in relatively more common structures like idk desert pyramids, mineshafts or dungeons, or jungle temples. trapped in a shipwreck, with the villagers in the igloo, or underneath a desert well would also be cool and not too common

I feel like the allay is a variant of the vex amd when it is in contact of an evoker the evoker swings it hands and the allay vibrates intesensely and turns it into a vex very much like how the evoker turns the blue sheep into red maybe theyre are turning allays into something they prefer like how they prefer red over blue

I honestly never expected the Allays to come so soon! They do seem a bit emotionless, and their movements are strange, but at least they're going to be polished as the betas come out. I'm very excited to have my own :) (Also, the new UI for Pocket Edition hurts my eyes. The best way to make video game controls comfortable and engaging is to not overwhelm players with hundreds of buttons on screen in uncomfortable places. That's just my opinion, though...)

What if the mansions had basements, and larger attics with even better loot, the basements also having loot, and even enchanted tools.

If you play the superflat world in Java 1.18.2 the stronghold generates in the sky (current bug) so you can actually beat a superflat world. Just a thought since you mentioned starting a superflat survival series.
