Using a John Deere 755 Compact Utility Tractor with loader and JD 318 with pull type grader box, my Dad and I tackle a couple modest jobs on a snowy Saturday afternoon. This video showcases a custom built home made pull type grader box as well as a home-made 3 point hitch mounted weight bracket. Also in this video I address a problem I had while trying to load the little tractor onto a big trailer.
Leave me some feedback! Always trying to get better and I hope to make more videos.
Thanks for watching!

Ha, the manure pile is stirring a memory. The last time I worked a pile before I got married, I was planting and enriching a tobacco field, just got all my gear on, gloved up, and started manually adding 1:4 to topsoil. Twenty seconds after I'm thoroughly covered, the then GF pre-wife status calls me and I remember answering full of disdain, "WHAAAAAT?!" "My apartment got broke into." "Don't go inside, I'll be right there." I was working with a police department at the time, and let me tell you, we made one hell of an entrance to her building! Brownie points for life.

....definite thumbs up for you and what you and your family do.... (there were a couple of shots of your neighbor's house; two, maybe 3 bare trees, cold, dreary and very grey....as lonely and depressing a scene that Edward Gorey or Stephen king might conjure as a prelude to some fantastical crime.... very striking imagery) Hope the ball field turned out well!

Really appreciate that David. It certainly was a cold and dreary day. It was hard to imagine getting ready to play ball that day but the fields did turn out great. There are several other videos showing the ball diamonds if you ever get the urge. Thanks so much for the nice comment and for checking out the video.

No offense taken. We actually feel kinda sorry for you flat landers, up here in the hills. Absolutely love the pull behind scraper box. Saw a dirt pan once for garden tractors that would be handy. Would haul maybe a wheelbarrow load at a time.

yall need to tarp that diamond over the winters. it will kill off all the weed seeds.
@digdrivediy
@digdrivediy 3 жыл бұрын
That's not a bad idea. If that would work I'd look into it. I'm not sure how it will kill off the weeds though when they still don't die under snow or frozen conditions either. But, I'd be willing to give it a try. If it stayed tarped up until the point we needed it then it would certainly be dead under there. Thanks for making me think about that. I need to see what a tarp that is large enough would cost. Thanks for watching!

JD 316? i have one that the steering got stiff after a lack of use, also, seems a bit smokey, any tips?
@digdrivediy
@digdrivediy 3 жыл бұрын
Yup, it is a 316 with a 25hp Robin/Subaru engine under the hood. The factory Onans were known to get a bit smokey over time. Once they got to 800-1000 hours it wasn't uncommon for them to smoke and use some oil (the loss of oil being the reason for the smoke). I have a 318 with original engine that smokes like crazy too. I don't have any good suggestions for the smoke as the Onan engine is very expensive to rebuild or even tune up. Most folks go with a different branded engine as a repower option. Small Engine Warehouse sells kits to replace the engine and includes everything you need. My philosophy is that if it still runs good, just keep oil in it and wear a shirt that you don't care smells like a racetrack! Thanks for watching!
@wilymcgee
@wilymcgee 3 жыл бұрын
@@digdrivediy lol racetrack smell for sure! I just had to drive the 316 around to loosen it up, it just recently went up for sale on marketplace (wife’s idea) right now for 1250, any more work o out into it I’ll just tack on to it.

My 318 does the same thing when starting. I have looked and replaced some items but still no luck. Have you ever found out the cause? Thanks
@digdrivediy
@digdrivediy 3 жыл бұрын
Ken, my tractor has a different engine than a stock 318 but when I have encountered this problem on an original Onan it has been solved by adding a starter Improvement kit. Have you tried one of those? If your machine is of a certain year and doesn't have the improvement kit it could be a huge help. I have installed several over the years and it provides more amperage to the starter with a relay. Give it a google search and you'll find it if you haven't already. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

@@digdrivediy It seems when I have a new battery or a recharged one it works better. I know the owner before me put a new starter on it. Yes it has the original Onan or as I call it Gonad engine. Looking to repower it in the future but it is still running good. I will check out the starter improvement kit. I really appreciate you getting back with me.
