Marines aren't supposed to be murderers, executions have rules, even in this tyrannical government. It's also a sign of strength to do it by the law and a sign of weakness to go around it.

You're completely right Lee. I respect your ability to be objective in this case. People hate Garp because of his decision but they fail to realize this man has been a marine longer than both these kids been alive combined. He's a good marine (not a corrupt one) and truly believes in justice and keeping people safe. He tried his hardest to steer ace and luffy in the right path so this exact scenario doesn't have to happen. It's like you said at the end, if you're a cop and your kid decides to be a drug dealer or a gang member, eventually you're going to have to bring them in.

Yea usually with garp people are so harsh with him because of his actions. Those people still have that teenage way of thinking where they only see a small part of the situation. Garp is carrying a lot on his shoulders so making a decision to help luffy is not an easy one.

Garp's idea of the right path is to support a Government that openly supports mass genocide, censors information (searching for this information is punishable by death), conceals history, is complicit with human trafficking/ slavery trading, perpetuates racism and segregation and maintains an extreme version of the caste system via the Celestial Dragons. In fact when a marine rushes to inform him that Rayleigh is being sold at a slave auction, his immediate reaction isn't abject horror at the existence of Government backed trafficking but to simply laugh it off. The idea of slavery and trafficking has become so normalized that he isn't even fazed by it. At least when the Strawhat's first witnessed it at Sabaody, they expressed shock and disgust. So if Garp wants to go on about the idea of the "right path," he should look inward and examine why he idealizes such an inherently corrupt and immoral institution. It's stuff like this that makes me even more curious to learn about the Revolutionaries. I don't like how any criticism of Garp or similarly intentioned "good marines" gets you labeled as some type of dumbass who can only see the world as black and white. I understand Garp's motivations, I just can't sympathize with them

The Government in One Piece is tribalistic above all else. I don't think this is about fulfilling "their vision of justice," it's just another spectacle to flex off their power and ensure the status quo is protected. And Garp knows this

WB coughing blood in the middle of battle wasn’t necessarily due to the injuries he received but due to his sickness. His health was deteriorating very fast, and he didn’t exactly take care of himself very well either(always pulling out all the medications and IV bags). Makes me wonder how strong WB would be if he was in his prime and not on death’s door.

But it's canon, It tells the story of Golden Lion Shiki, one of the rivals of Gold Roger and the first man who broke out Impel Down before Luffy and raided the Navy HQ and nearly destroyed it before Whitebeard, by fighting against Garp and Sengoku. The parallels tho, I think you two are gonna enjoy it coz it's shows a lot of faces from previous arcs of One Piece main story line when it was on the era of Gold Roger. Dope reaction btw as always. I do agree I hate that garp participates in the battle but that being said I do understand it. He tried to get them on the "right" path and it doesn't help that he has been a part of the navy for over 40 years so to a certain extent it's engraved into him to help them.

In case you're still unaware as to how Whitebeard's power works, here's how..... as I understand it. Whitebeard consumed the Gura Gura No Mi, which grants the user the power to manipulate gravity. Gravity occurs when massive cosmological bodies (like stars and planets) attract less massive ones (like all other smaller matter) by warping the fabric of the universe, causing them to fall inward, or into orbit. Gravity can at times even be powerful enough to tear through the fabric, thereby creating a black hole. When Whitebeard glides his fingers through the air, he is concentrating a gargantuan amount of gravitational force in a small area. Gravitational ripples twist and rip the very fabric of existence/the universe/spacetime, causing everything in the vicinity to strongly gravitate toward, and/or rip apart in the process. How people close to the epicenter don't immediately get sucked in and torn to pieces, I don't understand. Guess it's possible to chuck that up to manga/anime physics, right?

He doesn't control gravity in any way, shape, or form. What he has is the ability to make cracks in anything, including air, that send vibrations that in turn make the different quakes. In essence he hits people with extreme vibration which warps their bodies.

@@chadwood4412 It's in the name itself. The name of Whitebeard's devil fruit is the Gura Gura no Mi. "Gura" is short for "Gurabity" (gravity). Considering the names Oda gives to the devil fruits in One Piece (Gomu as gum or rubber, for example), and that he's not just making up obscure words to name things, it's quite obvious the names represent the element being manipulated.

@@Amaduality his fruit is literally the tremor tremor fruit, or quake quake. You're the first person I've ever seen, say he controls gravity, that's fujitora. Whitebeard had the ability to make earthquakes using vibrations. Also gura literally means the sound of shaking, hence the tremor tremor fruit.

It's crazy to think that the Whitebeard pirates were able to pull of such a feet against the world government considering that 1) Thatch, probably the 5th strongest died 2) Blackbeared, Probably the second strongest defected 3) Ace, 4th strongest got captured 4) Whitebeard, strongest in the crew was old, sick and slow

That are some good points. Yeah whitebeard were weak from old age and sicknesses that he wasn't able to react when Squard stabbed him, even though you have to remember that the 3 admiral's wasn't able to defeat him. Yeah he had some backup but he was strong enough to almost killed Akainu. And the other commanders were stronger than vice admiral's. Like Marco has a very strong devil fruit and Jozu was strong enough to hold Aokiji. There's another but can't tell, that's a spoilar.

aside from luffy, there are many people who can use it thats already been revealed in the show at this point .. boa hancock has it, whitebeard has it, roger has it and most probably ace too has it, garp has it too, shanks has it too .. remember that flashback of shanks in whitebeards ship where the crew are just falling down, thats shank's conqueror's haki leaking out ... amd many will be revealed in the future arc, if you still dont get a CLUE of whats gonna be the basis of power in the new world! you need to pur the big boy in this anime reaction for his speculation, i bet he can figure it out.

bro main reason whitebeard doesnt move earlier is cuz he is injured and if he does too much he might be out of the fight too soon and his allies will lose hope and get their asses kicked

Erza should realize, this is the biggest War ever written in manga/anime or even probably fictional storytelling. Its going to be long war, but it doesn't help that Anime add some scenes or prolonged some though. WB & Luffy alliance facing the strongest force and army that rules the world for 800 years. It won't be a cake walk

12:20 no~ Iva is not giving Luffy steroids. that's not how his power works. do we create steroids from our bodies? no. Iva's powers is working with the body, not putting things that isn't natural. he shot our boy up with Adrenaline. you know, the hormone in your body that gets you moving, even past the point it shouldn't be? that's what Iva got working overtime before and now.

Garp wanted them to be Marines. They chose to be pirates. It is what it is. We still don't know fully, but garp has a good reason for being in the Marines. He's doing what he thinks is right.

There are very few people with Conqueror's Haki in OP...All of their shocked reaction when luffy used it just shows us that luffy has the potential to be king in terms of strength , charisma , etc...now when it comes to Garp he was just mentally fucked up this arc his son became a revolutionary , his grandsons are pirates he just cant turn against Marines because of his beliefs...And Boa is OP as hell ppl just love to underestimate her strength

Let me clear one thing for some people who believe that "3 admirals are stronger than prime whitebeard". noo prime whitebeard was way Stronger than 3 admiral's. Cause think, whitebeard in this war was pretty weak from old age and from sicknesses that he wasn't able to react when Squart stabbed him, but even though any of the admiral's wasn't able to defeat him. Yeah he had some backup but everyone tried. And Akainu (who had a full fight with whitebeard) was almost dead, he was lucky that he didn't fall into the water. Also ( this point is for manga readers) he wasn't able to use Conqueror's haki. !!!

I get the Koby disrespect but it isn't "the end of their friendship". Luffy knows fully well that Koby belongs to the opposition so he has no problems with him fighting him in that situation. Luffy chose to be a pirate and his role as a pirate also includes fighting people he likes like Smoker. And with Koby it's the same, Marines fight pirates that's just how it is. Koby has the same right to fight for his cause as Luffy.
