Gary Moore, along with Bob Daisley, perform the song 'Over the Hills and Far Away' from his album Wild Frontier in Japan in 1987.
Wild Frontier is the eighth studio album by Gary Moore, released in 1987. His first studio album after a trip back to his native Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1985, this album has several songs about Ireland and even the music itself is steeped in Celtic roots. The title track was intended to be sung by Phil Lynott, however Lynott's death in January 1986 prevented that. The album is dedicated to Lynott's memory, with the words 'For Philip' on the rear cover.
Wild Frontier contains the hit 'Over the Hills and Far Away', which reached #20 in the UK as well as a cover of the Australian band The Easybeats' hit of the middle of the 1960s, 'Friday on My Mind'.
The official KZfaq for Australian Rock Legend Bob Daisley who has been at the forefront of classic rock for nearly 40 years.
Members, bands & artists Bob Daisley has played with include: The Hoochie Coochie Men, Gary Moore, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Blizzard Of Ozz, Uriah Heep, Ozzy Osbourne, Living Loud, Kahvas Jute, Mother's Army, Chicken Shack, Dio, Mungo Jerry, Jon Lord, Steve Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteem... to name but a few of his collaborations as a writer, performer & producer.

I can't help but feel that this song is an influence on melodic power metal, even being a proto work of the genre with the metal-type riffs, keyboards, Celtic influences and drum patterns. I have listened to some of the covers of it and none of them can ever match the original. Gotta love the flashing neon lights!

Bob Daisly is golden on all & anything that he performs on. Especially the first two Blizzard of Ozz albums. I remember when I was a 14-yr old learning guitarist I got the 1st Blizzard album and I saw the inside or back cover and I was familiar with Rainbow and Uriah Heep so I was familiar with Bob & Lee. Then the Blizzard/Motorhead first tour came thru Seattle and I saw them at the Paramount Theater - before the big castle stage. Well, when I saw the swarthy-cutesy guy licking his fingertip and playing the bass I had no idea who he was. I was very familiar with Tommy Aldridge because I had Black Oak Arkansas' Hot 'n' Nasty live album and Tommy does a bad-ass drum solo there. I was "shocked" to see Tommy playing drums - but since I was already familiar with the stuff on the album ... Rudy Sarzo did not impress me. And Tommy's playing was too all over the place and it gave no backbone to the material - not like Lee Kerslake does. And Rob Trujillo and Mike Bordin both have lost what little respect I ever had for them. I never much liked Suicidal Tendencies, Faith No More, OR anything Metallica's done since after Ride The Lightening. JUSTICE for Bob and Lee [which equates to justice for Randy as well as his memory was disrespected when the Osborne's fucked with the original master's containing their recorded contributions on those albums]. I stood in front of Randy for two hours that night in the Paramount Theater and my guitar playing hasn't been the same since.

Bob Daisley has such a powerful pounding way of playing the bass, it's one of few who you can identify when listening to. His bass playing is very strong and rhythmic, Ozzy was a fool to let him go. Uriah Heep scored big time with his addition, he made an excellent contribution to Abominog.

Oh did you think he wasn't miming? The missing cord is a dead giveaway. Even wirelessly there is a small cord to the transmitter. I actually respect that though. Not using a cord is a way of saying look this is a performance, just not an actual live performance. RHCP were ridiculed mercilessly for their halftime miming, but the kind of people that think those performances are real think pro wrestling is too.
