Newer remedies for gastroparesis are available. My doctors put me on the repurposed medication Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) for my gastroparesis, and it has worked wonders with no side effects. It also treats my dysautonomia/POTS and fatigue. This medication works by stimulating the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system, which regulate the digestive system.

Crystal, I have Cerebral Palsy and Gastroparesis. I use a wheelchair for long distance and a walker for short distances. I am scouring the Internet for additional resources. Do any of your patients have accompanying migraines with the nausea and vomiting of gastroparesis?

I’ve been dealing with a variety of gastrointestinal symptoms for over 2 years now and last fall my GI Doctor set up a colonscopy and endoscopy for me. During the test they found a hiatal hernia and bile left in my stomach along with minimal, chronic gastritis. The doctor left notes to “check b12 and gastroparesis?”. That doctor has since left the hospital and I have moved out of state so I unfortunately can’t ask that doctor if he thinks it’s worth testing for gastroparesis. I do not have vomiting or nausea, but am curious if I should try to push for a gastroparesis test given the comments the doctor left from my tests. Given your experience and research, would you recommend pushing for the test despite the lack of nausea and vomiting symptoms?

I've been wondering if Miralax is my best option for managing chronic constipation w/ possible GP for a bit now since I seem to get worse after my dose. More experimenting needed I guess.
