This means that they are both on the same page. There are definitely slight difference between idea, this is why we have a parliament. Parliament is a place to discuss about policies and problem of Singapore. Singapore don't need a parliament to have a 100% yes man and self praising MPs. A healthy parliament should have a different voices to give different ideas for our government to consider. The life back in 1959 is much more complex than the current life, threat from neighboring country, post independent problem and no natural resources. Not only landed. Many condo maintenance fee+sinking fund includes 1-2 free parking and is cheaper than hdb SC&C + parking. Given the economy of scale of HDB households, no reason why they’re paying more. I don’t live in a HDB anymore. However, i think the current “rob the poor and pay the rich” policies needs a review.

Tan Peng Joo : perhaps we can lower COE/ERP or even GST if we can implement a staggered ABSD for more than one car per household ? There might not be even a need for GST increase if we look at the efficacy of our expenditure eg. YOG overspend, $880k bin center, just to name a few examples. Furthermore, GST is a regressive tax. In many first world countries, basic essential items are excluded from gst/vat. Since we don’t have access to the government numbers, hope with more alternative voices & views, this can be explored together with the ruling party ???
