Des Chan Given the new dynamic of this election, these presentations are precious outreach opportunities to the electorate. It is just disheartening to see a 2/4* attendance for any party who want to discern themselves as being serious and committed to the cause. *Kenneth Jeyaretnam is on SHN, so that deserves some slack.

No wonder 苏先生 don't dare to come and read his own script lah. This poor fella looks like he's translating on the spot. Obviously not very fluent in mandarin thus all the awkward expression like 虐待 and 欺压百姓, but these are the kind of words that'll get everyone high at real physical rallies. RP had already lost the moment they decided to contest for this constituency but if I'm a resident there, I'll had vote for RP because of this guy. Kudos for his effort and bravery, my family had a great laugh.

The opposition won’t put strong parties like WP or SPS or SDP at AMK because AMK has a strong PAP team and PM Lee is leading AMK area so they will invest in the strong teams at other areas so they have a higher chance of winning rather than waste it all on AMK

I have No offense here , but i strongly think that to most of people this election is a good chance to get more opposition (voice) in the parliament. After election if the PAP decides to raise very high taxes or bills. Then if no opp party members to sound out then it will be imbalance. That means you compulsory have to pay, you see. So do think about it. Its going to be next 5years man. :)

He was given the Chinese script in the last 15 or 20 minutes. He could not recognise some of the words and had to think about how to convey the sentence true to the meaning of the party. That is to say, he did some instant translation on the spot. He did not quit but carried on. This is called resilient. My teacher actually showed us his speech in English and said that we should have more emotions in our oral reading , then she said she would show us him speaking in Chinese , “it’s even worse” , when he started saying English words in between , the people who could understand Chinese in my class were laughing their asses off

Stronger opposition party based on what metric? They are consistently one of the worst performing opposition party in every election cycle. The reform party actually has a somewhat similar platform to the worker's party (i.e. minimum wage) but because of ego, jayaretnam refuses to disband the party and coalesce behind the WP.

Don't worry. In Singapore, there are at least 20% hard-core opposition voters. If an opposition party is not silly, it should get min 20%. Moreover, RP has a clear ideology: Poor and old people should not suffer. PAP: Poor and old should work to contribute to economic growth. Because PAP could not win on the ideology debate, they always asked the Opposition to tell them plans and policies. And, the opposition parties always do the thinking for PAP.

Its bad. But its safe to say that both of them have the courage to speak in front of the camera with the whole SG looking on. Bad presentation but the courage is there. While for all of us, will run the moment someone offer us to be the opposition, doing what this 2 are doing. So before you make fun of them - it could have been us But no. We dont have the courage like they have. So kudos to them and shame on those who mocked them without any mercy.

initially i thought that it was an intentional attempt in penetrating to the millennial audiences out there with a comedic twist then i discovered out that he is indeed "jiak kang tang" from his IG stories. Despite the negativity thrown at him i still respected him for speaking up the truth. He is GOLD we need more unfiltered content imo.

We shouldn’t detract from the arguments made just because of his speaking ability. What he mentioned is pretty real to all of us - HDB leases, Aging population and needs of the elderly. I’m sure we can discuss on those issues instead of focusing on his language.

我听了大概快速地做了简要。大家好很抱歉今天原本因由苏先生来给的致词现由我来代表发言。政府自国家独立后并没有善待建国的人民，许多建国时代的长辈现在还在做低收入的工作比如保安等工作。甚至就如我们亲眼所见捡垃圾，纸皮，铁罐为生。许多长者也没有得到技术培训的机会。政府常以儒家思想说法说服人民说政府会用心对待长者并保护他们的权益，可惜现况表明了这并不是事实，这社会已偏向了。选民曾表示向议员提出许多问题都没有马上获得答复，这包括组屋续约等问题，其实仔细想想，议员怎会理会呢？因为对他们而言，他们根本不用担心自己在国会的位置不保的问题，他们只需要拿高薪一如往常上国会，置之不理在国会像是睡觉，怎么还会担心选民的烦恼理会选民的疑惑呢？总而言之，现在的政府根本不会有信服地为人民效劳。谢谢看多点台湾的节目中文会进步得更快！加油！

NO ONE joins an SG opposition party for fame and fortune. The fact that these people are willing to stand up for what they believe in despite a lack of polished aesthetics show great courage. I have nothing but admiration and respect for these people. Many Singaporeans would be in a far miserable state without the courage of these people. Even if they do not win the election, people esp. the young need to be able to see at least the good that comes out of all these. Thanks for standing up, Charles!

Although I couldn't stop laughing due to his delivery of the Chinese speech, I think he made some valid points and I can see his passion for people when he spoke. I think he deserves some respect for his courage and tenacity in delivering the speeches all the way to the end. He was probably informed at the last minute of his teammates' inability to attend and had to translate the speech on the spot. If he is not good at reading and writing Chinese, it would be difficult for him to simply read off a Chinese script. Probably no time to write hanyu pinyin everywhere? Just my thoughts.

although many have commented about the humour and thanking u for that, What i would say is, its easy to see that you are passionate about politics and have a heart for all Singaporeans, and that is enough. What i also gathered from this is also that for a party to be formed and people such as Charles to appear shows that there are Singaporeans who felt they have 'seen enough' and are taking action. If the PAP and its members still think they are living in their castles with protected walls, then they really have to wake up or they WILL be chased out soon enough. Its time for another generation, and if you can't CHANGE, you will be out. Its just a matter of time. People have patience and faith, but there will reach a point where enough is enough.
