When Luffy is in gear 2 mode, Luffy pumps up his blood flow, so he is faster. When Luffy is in gear 3 mode, Luffy pumps his bones, so he grows like a giant. When Luffy is in gear 4 mode, Luffy pumps up his muscles and skin, and adds the power of Haki, so that he can remain elastic even if the enemy uses Haki too. Luffy flies using the moon walk skill from CP9. The tattoo on Luffy's chest is the effect of the way Luffy uses his Haki.

Gear Second focuses on pumping blood faster in his blood circulary system. Gear Third focuses on enlarging bone structure. And now, Gear Fourth enlarges his muscle system and he using haki to control and direct his muscle to do whatever attack he wants to do because he is made out of rubber

I always loved the Kabuki stance and the Kabuki style "Gear Fourth" pronunciation. I remember A LOT of Kabuki styled merch in Mugiwara store back then. It was strange as it was before the reveal in the manga, I think. And a lot of people thought that it was connected to Wano. They were wrong lol And the colour spread of the manga was also with zombies, reminding the readers about Thriller Bark and Nightmare Luffy.

The English sub is horrible as always for this reveal. In Japanese, German, and some other languages its "Gear" and then "Fourth". In English its "Fourth" and then "Gear" which is always a slight mood killer as it spoilers the hype moment.

@@crcoghillNo it doesn’t. Not everyone is gonna be like WOAH HE PULLED UP HIS FOREARM because no sane person would even notice that upon first viewing. You’re only saying this because of the power of retrospective thinking. Nobody reading the manga at the time (you can go and check since most of those live reactions are still on youtube) thought it either when he did it. The most people thought was “huh he must be doing a weird haki strat with his forearm”. Everyone was SHOCKED when he said “Gear…..FOURTH” because that was supposed to be THE indicator. Only AFTERWARDS did people go “OH YEAH IT MUST HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIS FOREARM NOW” So no, the forearm was not enough. Its only a clue in retrospect, not in the moment

that is not true at all. please provide your source if what you said is true.. in actuality, its the other way around... Doffy love the system since he was the one who control it... that's why he was the no1 underground broker who work with all sides... Governments, Pirates, organizations etc just go read Doffy conversation with Vice Admiral Tsuru. another proof is Law speech to Vergo when Law defeated Vergo, talking about breaking the gear to break the system that binds the world balance or in other words world's fake peace.. in context of the stability of the world of OP still retained even after the Marineford War. when that war happened, the world was expected to change and turn to chaos due to the lost of balance between the World's SuperPowers when the Emperor WHiteBeard was defeated. but for some REASON, the world was quickly recovered its balance and peace and not much changes happened. and that reason was the SYSTEM that was under control of Doffy. so why exactly Doffy want to BREAK the System again in your opinion? if he really want to break it then why he said what he said to Tsuru regarding him to be the one that hold the leash of the Monsters of the world of OP? why he said defeating him only bring chaos to the world since he was the one that hold everything together? why even bother to hold everything together, to keep everyone in check if Doffy really want to break the system? what stopping Doffy to break the system himself? also what is it with all the secrecy in Dressrossa if Doffy really want to entice the Worst Generation to come to break his system? there is no where in the manga or the anime Doffy ever interested in any of the Worst Gen except for Luffy and even that he never said anything about THE system. dont forget, Doffy was angry when Law bringing up the fact that Luffy is a member of D clan.. so please share anything from the manga that support your theory or conclusion.

To the TGL bros at 27:50 , a "culverin" is an old artillery weapon that gave later the hand held arquebus in the 15th century. It's a ancestor of the modern guns. You were still right when you asked what animal is that because the name originates from the french "couleuvre" meaning grass snake and the latin "colubrinus" wich mean "nature of a snake". So you have a SNAKE now, hence the follow up with "Puthon".

Gear Fourth ~ Bounceman mode actually already been forshadowed during Triller Bark arc when Luffy use it as the last attack against giant Gecko Moria. Gear Fourth is a technique that was achieved as a result of past Luffy battle against some Antagonist. some of them is CP9 and Gecko Moria.

I always hated how the localization messes up the subtitles and names of moves. Even if it's a matter of seconds, saying 'Gear' before the number is a HUGE factor in the storytelling method. Similarly I hate how they changed Chopper's 'Points' to 'Boost'. To say nothing of the entirety of Bon Clay and Ivanakov and their group. There's just so many needless and pointless changes they make with the localization.

For me Luffy inflates himself to the limit and uses haki to harden outside and keep the volume low. He has the bounciness of a balloon on the verge of explosion but haki prevents the explosion.

Some tidbits about G4. When he is that form he is 4 Meters tall (13"4'), while in normal form he is 1.72M. Also Luffy is capable of using Moonwalk (from CP9) in this form aswell to fly through the sky (same as Sanji, but called Skywalk)
