Axle to Axle 36", Weight 5.4, Draw 25.5-31.5", Brace Height 5.75-7.5", IBO 325 fps. To start with I thought I was reviewing the B34 which is the same bow but 34" axle to axle. We shoot through a chronograph and then shoot the Gearhead B36 at 18 meters to see how it groups.

I absolutely appreciate your reviews, Steve. I watch lots of different channels and I think you are the only one who reviews bows and equipment at all price levels, AND you never push any one product/brand over another. I come to you for thorough, unbiased and interesting reviews. Thank you for all the time you put into your videos.

I think the double frame is for lower cost of manufacturing. Laser two flat plates vs cost of forge & machine weird shapes

They did a double frame for their shoot though, and grip design.

I don't know how I missed this review. THANK YOU for doing it. I've been looking for something that isn't a 3 minute blurb on these bows. I'd love to try one.

Is the IBO based on the shorter brace height? Seems quiet. I briefly owned one of the short ones. It is cool that it could fit in a little backpack.

Stellar group. I just can’t get past the look of it. It’s so bulky and wide. If I shot lights out with it I might use it for 3d, but I don’t think I would want that massive bow in the woods.

One ugly thing. I know about getting over COVID. Three times in two years. At 72 it’s a 3 week recovery after a week of feeling like crap. Takes me about two more weeks to get my bow shooting shape back. I just can’t see me using a bow like this. Ever.

The design is one that will have two camps. You will either hate the look or love it regardless of how it shoots. Its definitely an acquired taste. Cool from a utilitarian standpoint but quite ugly in comparison to the mainstream bows. Hope it does well for you Steve. The more diverse the equipment the better it is for all of us.

I'll try one with a full target setup soon. It should be interesting. I agree acquired taste, I think Im liking it the more I see it. I want to try the different brace heights too. the different spots for the stabilizer is interesting.

I mean, shit wind conditions and an untuned bow with really basic sight and yet, a smidge to the left with that sight and you shot basically all 10s. That's a pretty good testament to the bow's quality

back in the day hoyt had their weight range at 45-55 as well, grant you'd have to look back to the late 80's and early 90's folr that though. GearHead while a perfectly fine bow, they are just so ugly, I know they brand themselves as different to kind of disguise ho ugly they are. I really think they could be more popular if they did something about the aesthetics of the bow.

Why would you ever shorten the brace height if it doesnt change anything like speed etc., if it just moves the grip? Fast bows just have to have small brace height because they have increased powerstroke by decreasing brace height, but if decreasing brace height doesnt give you a longer powerstroke or give you anything really, why would you ever move the grip in the direction of the string if you could do it.

I mean it does alter speed because you then need to move your draw length out. Definitely better used to fine tune draw length as I assume it'll be far easier to move it then the draw stops. But if you care about torque tune you'll soon throw that out once you start moving your grip point.
@Makka316
@Makka316 Жыл бұрын
If you shorten the brace height by moving the grip back you will then need to lengthen the distance you have to draw the string back from the line of the cams in order to maintain your draw length. This increases your powerstroke potentially improving speed. The down side is the bow will potentially feel a little more "twitchy" however unlike other short brace height bows the pivot points of the limbs on this bow are still the same distance from the cams regardless of where the grip is positioned so I'm not sure what effect that has. It would be interesting to experiment with different grip positions to see what effect is has on speed, stability, string angle at full draw etc.
