We test and review the Gearhead Disrupter 20. We discuss the Gearhead bows and Disrupter 20. We shoot through a chronograph and then shoot at 18 meters to see how the bow shoots.

I am a Pro Shop in America, thanks for your review, it was interesting, I would encourage you to add a 1/4" peep sight there is plenty of room for it just below the cam and it works super good for these as we sell a lot of them in our shop with no issues at all, yes you could get it to close but be aware an inch below the cam works just fine., also I would encourage you to try a drop away rest as you might be surprised that they all work well also, as far as derailment, that never happens unless you super torque this bow at least with all the cam sizes we have sold, plus in that case someone needs some instructions anyway. Glad you did shoot it well, maybe you should try it at longer range, say 50 or 60 yards, I'm betting you would be very impressed. These are top quality bows the D-loop is setting dead center between the cams and your hand placement is in line with the flex of the limbs, these two things make this a very forgiving bow. Thanks, Charlie

Doesn’t the moving grip adjust the draw length? One thing I like about their bows is the shoot-through riser to minimize the lateral deflection of the riser.

Nice review. I'm probably going to order the 24" Pro version from the US, as like you say no Aussie dealers. Not fond of the looks but the attraction to me is the adjustability as is I live too far from any pro shop to get a fitment. 10 lbs of draw weight adjustability, 26-30" draw length adjustability and the deal-clincher, swappable to left hand as I might find I have to do due to eyesight. I would have thought it was ideal for Aussie dealers due to the adjustability actually - not having to stock so many variants. Once I have that sorted out, plan is to get a prettier 29-31" that will look good on the wall as well. LMK if you did indeed hear back from Gearhead and will be stocking.

I have that bow exactly. Big peep sight, QAD ultra-rest (drop-away). Works great. Mounting the sight backwards like how yours is also has the advantage of less protrusions, i.e. less things to get hung-up on when walking through brush.

You dont need to look back many to find bad groups. But I would say since I started doing reviews my groups have got alot tighter, My recurve scores have gone up alot, my compound scores are only up a little, but I focus more on technique these days than I use to. My arm is a bit higher and shoulder down. Recurve is harsh on bad form.

I kinda thought to myself b4 your 1st shot like what is like the physical opposite type of string compared to that bow? Only had to look @ wall. I have 2 different Prime bows with the parallel cam system that has 7 different string components on it. But they sure tune & shoot like a gem. I do believe that Gearhead bows r ambidextrous so if that is true it would be a good thing. Many options with the mounts & adjustments on those things.

For someone that says they don't shoot a short draw bow you certainly shot a nice group Stephen 👍 I had a PSE Super short that I had a hard time with cause of the short draw length and aggressive cams.

I thought they looked pretty interesting so I researched a bit.. you can put the sight on forward (normal) actually this is the first I have seen with the sight backwards, no issues mentioned with using a peep and drop away rests , and in a video from a show the manufacture mentioned the cam... want to say the string sits into a deeper notch on top of the cam to prevent derailing (they yank it all kinds of crazy showing it wasn't an issue) maybe thats the reason for the thin string? I really only shoot target anymore so like you it would be a novelty.... if I could find an archery competition you run/hike/climb target to target it would be the excuse I need :). great shooting, so much better than I think I could ever do with a tiny bow.

At 30 inches draw length this bow will close himself completely I think , the cams will touch (almost) - if it is scary now , think how will it be then! Bottom line - your shooting is excellent with bows you don't like or you think you will struggle with (also Martin Damsbo shoots godlike every time he is "not" on a competition and Sjef van den Berg shoot better than Ellison with a 300 usd wood riser bow setup at a training)!

One reason all my reviews are done with them and no peep. Certainly if you can shoot that group at 18m with this bow with this setup you would be happy? It amazed me. Infact some of the groups I shoot in the reviews are better than I shoot with my comp setup. Which then gets me thinking what group would I shoot with a setup bow.

You have a poor anchor. Your draw length should never change because of a bow brand. If you are 29.5”, then that should be the same for every now. Your problem is you do not anchor properly. You should have a solid anchor with your release hand, and screw where the string is. If you have a good release hand anchor, your draw length from bow to bow should never change. No need for the string to touch your nose at all. That just a recurve thing. You need to get away from that so that every now you test, that draw length will never be different. Please listen to someone who shot competitively for almost 20 years. Your release hand, those knuckles need to be anchored on the back of your jaw bone. Bone on bone anchor is the best you can get. With m no o solid anchor, just leaning your head when you are not aware will throw a shot off, because you are relying on that string to nose and chin for your anchor. If that does not stop, you will continue to be in a mess.
@ArcherySuppliesLonsdale

Maybe - I have been shooting comp since 12. I think the main thing is to enjoy it. When I shot alot my scores went up. I find the difference between the best archer and next is very little. I have a guy here who shoots 710 World Archery Scores. Which is world class, but you need to be able to put the time in and then do it consistently. When I was the Australian champion it was a choice to work, educate. I like teaching people, getting people into the sport, I like shooting, getting stronger. I have had coaches - The thing I notice when you look at the best archers everyone has their own style, recurve is more traditional - Koreans are amazing. With this bow it did not fit, so I adjusted my body so that I could try and get accuracy. I was really happy with the result. I had expected to throw arrows everywhere.
@oldon5881
@oldon5881 2 жыл бұрын
This is the most condescending comment on his channel I ever seen. Archery is an activity where the habits count more than what the book says. If his habit is to have the string on the nose due to shooting long recurves and compounds with bigger ATA, your comment is out of the line - this is not his usual bow and even the less smart coaches know that a good archer form is in the end a mitigation of things, not a cast in concrete recipe. If you think you have something to share, put a video out there showing what good form means, shooting a 20" ATA compound, 1" shorter than your DL please. PS I've seen 30 years competitive archers average at best, so the number of years competing mean nothing.
