With fans behind me, I completed Gears of War Ultimate Edition. Tough review, damn multiplayer achievements, great remaster, fun gameplay.

About The Game: Gears of War is a 2006 military science fiction third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is the first installment of the Gears of War series. It was initially released as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360 in November 2006 in North America, Australia, and most of Europe. A Microsoft Windows version of the game was developed in conjunction with People Can Fly and released a year later, featuring new content including additional campaign levels, a new multiplayer game mode, and an online functionality.
Ultimate Edition is a near-complete remake of the original game, that features the five chapters of the campaign originally exclusive to the PC version of the game. Players who purchased the Ultimate Edition received early access to the multiplayer beta of Gears of War 4, which was released on April 18, 2016.

@KeoneArt tbh the series. Saying the game "sucks" is alittle harsh so my bad on that. I still see this game series as something that's overstaying it's welcome because at the time of release this game was overhyped, and when the game was release i had mixed feelings towards it. Then i tried 2, 3, and even judgement and while i did see some improvements, it still feels like they haven't gotten any better. It's multiplayer campaign (horde more) can be fun I'll give it that. But the series as a whole doesn't reallh hold up imo as something as big as HALO.

Theres a huge fan base here too but South America and Mexico doesnt have a buch of beta politics ruining male role models or downing the protagonist for being men. So More power to em. But with all the Mexicans we have here most dont play games...they come to get work and get lives started and then their kids play. But i love going online and finding the old games still live and i dont mind them and they play with me so fuck yeah viva gears. Plus Microsoft really pushed this game and the 360 down there and its still popular even in 2019

#NoMoreIncompleteCompletionist Seconded. The spoiler section is actually my favorite part because I get a kick out of his rapid fire summary of events. Plus If I'm watching one of these episodes, I've either already played the game, or never plan to and just wanna hear a "complete" rundown of it, story and all. It makes the episodes feel incomplete.

I was personaly suprised that there was a change. I admit I don't follow anything outside his mainchannel, so if there was a vote or a discussion about it, I missed it, but I really miss that part. I understand his feelings about not wanting to spoil anything, but this is the internet. Everyone who wants to be spoiled, has been spoiled already. If there is another reason, why personaly doesn't like it, I will try my best to understand it, however if it is just that, then I see it as a distruption of the "completionist journey" he might want to convey to us. From start to finish. His passion for games. Sure, if it is a good agme, he would like us to "play" or "complete it", however that's not possible for everyone and for some will never be (for obvious reasons). Bottom line, I feel like something important is missing now and it feels after all these years "incomplete", in lack of a better word.

if you look on the site the last video jirard uploaded there was in january. Infact the most recent video from any of them was march... so I would say the site is pretty dead.

The new content in this remake is brutal, especially on the hardest difficulty (as you quickly learned). The rest of the game was a cake walk compared to that section. And insane multi achievements like this just blow. I'll never finish them, I have too many other multiplayer games that I also want to play than to just dedicate all my time to a single one. It just isn't worth it, at all.

I must say, seeing the new assets, I don't like it too much. I think the past assets worked way better for the format of the show. In the past it was always clear what the different sections meant, but... ''The Legend''? ''The Strategy''? I really don't know what those segments are supposed to be about. The only clear one is ''The Reward'' imo. I also think these assets don't fit your style at all. I think they look pretty generic to be honest. The past assets were full of personality. I'm not saying these are terribly done, because they're not. I just think that these assets don't fit with The Completionist. Sorry for that little rant, but just had to leave this comment, since I noticed that the assets kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

I see a lot of other people thought the same thing. I hope you notice these comments Jirard, and can manage to do something with it. I don't think anyone expects you to throw the assets out of the window immediately, but hopefully you can figure out something new to do with the assets while staying true to what made the other assets so charming and fun.

I can totally relate, yet, I believe to know what is meant with the segments. You have to keep in mind, that the show is actually based on the completionist playstyle, meaning, unlocking everything to 100%. Jirard wanted to streamline the format for this purpose. "The Strategy" shows what has to kept in mind for doing so, he explains what he will do, what possible problems will show up with the completion, etc. "The Legend" refers to the game itself, I believe. It, beeing legendary (or something, I don't really get it either), he continues with the usual analysis of story and presentation. "The Battle" comes down with the gameplay and former struggle aspects. And "The Reward" explains itself.

I love the new format Jirard, some people don't understand that change is good and healthy in life and part of growing. It feels more personnal and I actually love the transitions and the music too. I really like the struggle part being a lot more important now too! Also, nice writing Brett! :)

The new format feels less like the old "Completionist" and more like "The road to how I beat this game: A Completionist Tale" with special guest appearances by "Completionist"

Mostly because it is a complete different approach to his old format. He wants to convey a journey, but is also doing some kind of review. Somethign finished and something that is in process. It just doesn't mix well. Another problem is, that if he is set on going this road, it won't be the completionist anymore. At least not like the past years. it will be a completly different approach to the same topic, with a different flavour. Some might like it, some might not. Right now it just doesn't balance out.

I've been watching you since the Starfox episode and I really enjoy your videos, but this new format it's...it's bad really. It feels odd and out of place when you pop up on the screen, I miss the story and final level part. Please try to bring them back somehow because this show feels like every other gaming show on KZfaq.

Yeah, I don't even need to watch this video to know that the "Seriously" achievement is gonna be a nightmare to get. And the amazing part is that until at least Gears of War 3, which is the last one I played, they had included a newer and worse version of that achievement in each and every successive entry.

My only gripe with the new format is the little Jirard scenes during the gameplay. It's one thing like the FNAF videos where they were live, genuine recordings but these are so obviously reenacted moments and they just don't feel convincing at all. Other than that though I'm liking the new format with the Completion emphasis a whole lot. Also that's the best achievement grinding loophole I've ever seen. Thanks, Japan!

God, once you got to the 10k achievement, I had flashbacks to when I was testing "True Son of the Emperor (40,000 kills combine in all game modes)" on Warhammer 40k Space Marine or the three worst achievements for Darksiders which are "Slayer (Kill 666 Demona)," "Dark Rider (100 miles on horse back (employee of the month for the win))", and "River of Blood (3000 gallons of demon blood)" for THQ. You had a sound strategy to get that achievement 10k. I salute you, sir!

I am a HUGE fan of this show, Ive watched it for years. And I really wanted to say my opinion about the new format, I hate it. I feel like it is not you, the ""Lets play" like segments are something that feels like its from angryjoe, the green screen bits where you pop up in the middle of the gameplay are distracting and feel weird, I miss the old music/layout I feel like the new formats music and transitions are super dull and generic, the old ones always had a real FLOW to them and the whole show was building up to something, like everything was there for a reason not to be just a joke. It honestly feels like an insult to my intelligence when you do the facecam lets play bits like you are trying to entertain 7 year olds, its bad, the parts with the green screen take me away from what you are saying as well. This entire video felt random, like it was going no where. The new formats bad dude, I am sorry but its just terrible. I hope I did not come off as overly critical but I love the work you do here and thought I would throw my 2 cents in and express my distaste of some of the new things.

Jenny Mosley I agree with missing the spoiler section and the graphics and animations feel like they lack that Completionist soul. However, I do enjoy seeing him on screen and it doesn't really distract me, it feels a bit more personal to me. And no, you came off fine. It's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Jirard I think the new format is refreshing and professional, and shows that you're able to change with the times and not stagnate with the same old thing over and over. I do think the spoiler section should stay, but other than that, keep up the good work. Don't worry about the people hating on this. You're doing excellent.

soopa46 the control scheme was the least of my problems. The segmented and arcade-like mission design killed the pace of the game. Plus the story or the characters weren't at all memorable (aside from Baird and Cole of course and any other returning Gear I might've missed)

Liar. There were plenty of people who liked Judgement. BUT after a few years went by, those people took another look they didn't like what they saw. In fact they turned on it in a big way. One high profile person I can name is Jeff Gersman from Giant Bomb.

This was the very first game that I played when I got the xbox 360. It was such a great game and only got better when you played with a friend but MAN did I hate the multiplayer achievements difficulty spikes... including that dreaded mine-cart stage.. Great video Beard Brother!

I miss the story section. Narrative is such a big part of games, it'd be cool to have a section on it again. Also, I would love to see an episode on LOTR the third age or 007 nightfire. I played the shit out of those games when they came out, and they're not too tough to complete. Be a nice break.

Every time I saw Jirard hop on Xbox live to complete this game in the past few months, I said a few prayers and recited a few Hail Marys for his sanity as I knew he was trying to complete this game 100% the multiplayer achievements.... The multiplayer achievements man, they'll get you. They'll get you gooooood.

GOW 2 I was done with all the achievements but seriously 2.0. I reloaded that brumak level for 12 hours straight on a highschool saturday. all i had was music to get me through no 2nd tv or anything to watch something while i did it. THIS STILL HAUNTS ME!

I miss the old format. I get why they did the switch, but it's just not as fun and engrossing as it used to be. I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching this anymore, and damn that makes me sad.

Dang you guys are pros, nice work, and so you all know the first game is mostly the introduction of the series and such along with how the world is in actions, so that’s mostly why the later games grow more in story, still nice work and sorry you all went though all that, but I know who to trust with if I get into multiplayer

Did this channel got bought or something because this honestly doesn't look it being run by a person that plays games. Also (I cant believe I'm saying) this but I REALLY REALLY CANT FINISH THIS VIDEO! That's a first for me to not watch any of this channel's videos. Video game lingo and graphics 101? really? The strategy, The Legends, what do these mean? I have no clue! But kids these days do love it! And lets put them on a blue grid like map showing its like a quest in a video game! And good lord stop with the green/blue screens during gameplay its jarring as hell! My eyes focuses on you not the video you want to show. Same goes for when you do cam talks. If you want to show something, SHOW IT! don't talk about it! NOT: Hey look how much fun we are having chainsawing a dude in half! We swear we are having fun! Just look at out faces, we are smiling with such joy! It blows my mind how you guys were doing such a good job especially with the Tales of whatever is called, and that Final Fantasy Strategy game!

Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. Keep going! Also, in this one you comment a lot on how you planned to achieve your goals. I don't want you to unveil your secrets, but I would like to see a video on how a professional gamer like you prepares himself to completely squeeze a given game: if you write down a plan, read guides, make a schedule, seek advice in others... Of course you have a lot of patience and skills, but one game fully beaten per week... it's very difficult to achieve just by playing I guess... Just curious. As said, thanks for your channel and keep that fantastic work! PS. If you already made a video like this... I said nothing :-)

I appreciate he's trying to do something different but it just doesn't 'feel' like the completionist anymore. I understand others might, and that's fine, but I just really don't enjoy this new layout. It just seems like another generic review show now.

Man, I am really liking the new set up. We get to see more of what it is like to complete a game and not just see a review and what you get if you do everything it't pretty nice.
