I wore sunscreen as a child and started experimenting with makeup at about 10-12. There's a difference between that and using retinol and other damaging skincare and 'anti ageing' products when you're a literal child.

To be fair: a model or topmodel spends a lot of time doing skin and haircare, sports and being on a (mostly not very balanced and healthy) diet to maintain their weight. Some of them undergo procedures, for example Linda Evangelista, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner (even if they deny it, it's very obvious they got something done, it's not just make up). Look at Linda Evangelista now. Cosmetic surgery, fillers, botox etc might look good at first but as the years go by.. They turn into a wonkey version of themselves.

There was a topic trending that millennials seem to look younger than Gen Z because they didn’t slather chemicals when they were young, didn’t smoke or vape, and kept their faces clean and moisturized well into their 20s and started make-up later in life. At that age I was using a damp wash cloth and maybe soap if my face was particularly dirty. My skin was way healthier than the girls who were using tons of product.

One thing that's funny is the trend about how Gen Z is aging faster than every generation. I don't don't use any of those self care products they do and people think I'm 5 years younger. They're aging themselves.

Def depends on your genetics (woman are typically more prone to acne for ex) and if you actually need other products, my skin has looked much better after getting into skin care but I had bad acne, acne scars and sun damage. Some people need/want certain products to help with different things but most products are unnecessary. I’ve been using a basic acne face wash and sunscreen everyday and my skin has never looked better. Some people probably cab get away with not washing their face but if you have any skin problems/ conditions it’s definitely a little more to it than just using a damp wash cloth every now and then.

This is so true. I used to obsessed with skincare and after I stopped and used basic cleanser and lotion my skin has never been better. Tbh, I think cosmetic companies have a conspiracy to have skincare products make one look worse overtime so they need to buy more🤨

As an esthetician when I see and hear a 10 year old using a peel or retinol I just cringe because they have no idea how much they are damaging their skin all the way down to their dermal layer which in the future when they do get older wrinkles will be the least of their problems. 😢

Can’t believe that 14 year old girl said she uses retinol 2 times a day ?? I’m 26 and don’t even use it everyday because it’s so strong and irritating. It’s insane that her parents allow her to do this at that age . At 14 you should only be using a face wash and moisturizer or sunscreen.

I really respect that you don’t wear makeup or minimal makeup in your videos. Us women need to normalize this more. Wearing makeup to a job interview, date night, or special occasion is one thing, but a full face every day is not it.

It really higlights how healthy Misha must be. She's got such a fair complexion and a beautiful colour in her cheeks. Unless her health takes a turn to the worst, she's bound to retain her physical beauty well into old age. Really though, a living a simple healthy life style goes a long way to retaining natural beauty, not these bizarre extremes that come at great risk. And it's all external. Beautifying the outside does not make you a beautiful person, no more than decorating a paper bag makes it valuable. If people paid such attention to who they really were opposed to what they looked like, the whole world would be a much more beautiful place.

I’ve given up makeup completely. I hate the way it feels, I’m honestly more self conscious when I wear it (because now I have to worry about if I put too much on or if It’s done bad or if I’m sweating it off.) I don’t even like wearing it when I meet people because it feels dishonest to wear it once and then never again. I might not look like a 5 or a 7, but I don’t really care. I’m too busy to add another thing to stress about.

To feel like you need to do it everyday is the issue but I see a lot of people doing it for fun or to pull together an outfit if they’re into that. so long as it’s not an unhealthy obsession where you won’t even go out without it I feel like it’s really a non issue.

I turned 33 today. Yes, I'm already "old". I can't think of much else to say...so I'll repeat what an older man told me. You can really only do two things with age...grow old, or die. Beauty obsession is not a real problem unless it’s aimed at children. Social Media plays a big role. Underaged children should not be on TikTok, Instagram, should not be ‘influencers’. Parents have a big responsibility in this. Kids have no place on social media.

Man... when I was growing up.. The 10 to 16 year olds I knew at that time were just into games, sports or interested in a relationship. I only noticed girls getting into makeup around late teens or early 20s.. more in college or university. But then again.. we didn't have tik tok or mobile phones during those times as well. People just experienced life exploring or going to new places or doing new things in life.

Okay yes... the looksmaxing thing freaks me out tf. I'm 30 and have a very youthful face but am developing some fine lines around my under eye ...but I AM THIRTY. Ofc I'm going to have those. Jesus. I'm not ugly because of that like wow. I'm seriously scared of society's obsession with youth. The obsession with youth also reminded me of this one post I saw the other day - it said "as a female I was catcalled so much more at 16 than at 25" and that speaks volumes. It's literally pedo zoo out there i swear, and it's not a coincidence. We are basically in an online echo chamber that worships youth. But wisdom and beauty come with age. I actually find younger people so unattractive. Like, looking your age is hot. This needs to stop jesus. side note though: the Stanley cups are ugly af LOL

Trust me, the older you get (and thus the more your brain develops...hopefully), the more you'll understand. But we need to stop implying people under 25 are adults. Scientifically they are not.

They just read as entitled, and snotty, quite frankly. In my opinion, a ten year old doesn't *need* an iphone and shouldn't have unlimited access to an ipad. My sons didn't have cellphones until they started driving and going to work. Something to think about for those who have littles. It was really hard (even peer pressure for adults sucks!) but I'm really glad we did it.

I really think that being obsessed with beauty isn’t a Gen Z thing, that’s how humanity’s always been. It’s just that we’re able to see it more with the rise of social media and since now there’s a lot more products and services available for that purpose. We’ve always liked pretty and being pretty. Men started using cosmetics in the last few decades, people didn't know beauty standards before photography... ofc. we always wanted to be attractive the difference is what we thought was attractive. now you can't feel attractive without hours of work done every day and lots of money. but today it's not even in the whole world just in some cultures .. so sorry but no, it's not because we see it more, we see it more because people obsess

@@Anarchiusz and Im telling you, that people all over the world, and in different cultures and time periods were also obsessed with it to unhealthy levels. One example I can give you is how in China, during the 1800’s, one of the beauty standards was having small feet because they thought it made them look more graceful and delicate. And so, a lot of girls were destroying their feet by binding them in order for them to look smaller to fit the beauty standards better. Its not a gen Z thing. I’m not just talking about liking beauty, it is about being obsessed with it.

Putting (too much) value on other people’s opinions is not healthy (especially on the internet!!!). But I am a grown woman (33) growing up very sheltered from ""modern/social media” and I still have to tell myself on a regular basis that today’s the beauty standards are unattainable. I do not think someone growing up with this stands a chance. A ten-year-old being afraid of wrinkles is absurd. But unfortunately, a sad social media reality. Its the environment that’s toxic, not the individuals. The kids today do not stand a chance

Same. A year or 2 ago I just took a minute to think and realised that I get no joy out of putting on makeup because I'm not particularly good at it no matter how much I practice and I hate taking it off at the end of the day. Also thinking about all the toxic stuff that's in makeup and the fact that men aren't forced to wear makeup and are accepted in their natural form helped me come to terms with just not wearing makeup. It's freeing and honestly I think it's why I look younger than I am.

Why?? Who convinced these women for generations that theyre ugly in their natural forms??? It boggles my mind how much the makeup companies make from these poor delusional women. Everyone looks better with a clean face! It may take time to get used to not being made up with false lashes but why are ppl wearing fake lashes??? And daily??? I cant. The thing about the UV Ray avoiding the sun thing is we NEED sunlight. Not just for regulating our sleep wake cycles but also for the Vitamin D production. Being deficient in Vitamin D negatively affects your mental and physical health and we have people petrified of aging from sun, not even of skin cancer. Wild.

You need just few minutes of sunlight for proper vitamin D production. Using suncreams is actually good. Especially compared to how millenials were obsessed with tanning.

@@CynwaleJust use sunblock. I did that throughout my 20’s and 30’s. Now I’m 42 years old and I don’t have not even one wrinkle on my face. I’ve never used botox or plastic surgeries. Just some chemical peelings now and then with a doctor.

I’m 18 and I just started a skincare routine two weeks ago. My routine is cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen (super simple). I wasn’t even aware of any of that stuff at 10 and 12. It’s absolutely insane to me that CHILDREN are using retinol.

I used retinol once at 19 (im 22 now) and I got a chemical burn from it, my skin was peeling off and was irritated (especially around my nostrils and right cheek) and it gave me fine lines under my right eye that I didn't have before (and that my left eye didn't and still doesn't have). Since then I also went back to the basics of cleanser, toner, squalene (hydrating serum I use when my skin is extra dry, it's natural and comes from plants), moisturizer and SPF. I've decided not to use reitnol or anything until i'm 25 or 27. I understand it can be used to treat acne but a lot of the retinol out there is really strong and I don't children should be using it unless prescribed by doctors for acne or something. It can cause a lot of damage if it's started too young or not used correctly because someone isn't educated enough on it (at least in my personal experience).

My younger sister used a product with retinol in it and she’s 14 and it burnt her skin off her face, we took her to the doctor and the dermatologist and they said she had some sort of chemical burn, she refused to admit it but we found it in her stuff, there seriously should be supervision in these stores or consent forms signed in store to stop kids from getting their hands on these products.

I wish I could wear makeup. But I got extra sensitive skin and eczema, so using the products just makes me itch. It's not the allergic itch, just like slight itching that's just infuriating. I currently got a splotch of eczema right under my left eye and I really can't do anything until it goes away. I';m 31 now and I never learned proper makeup because of those two issues. Basically, girls, it could be much worse. Wrinkles aren't bad.

I always hated the feel of makeup on my skin, so i never wear it, i used to just do mascara, but when i turned 30 i stopped that too. I definitely got lots of laugh lines😊

Kinda. The windshield blocks most UV rays. The side windows (tempered glass) could let through more UVA rays. That's not going to sunburn you, but could lead to skin aging and higher risk of cancer.

the way they dont realise that the skincare they use will backfire on them completely when theyre older. A lot of skincare products arent meant to be used on skin so young and if they keep in using skincare that they dont even need is like watering a fake plant Their skin also makes its own moisture and oils that they NEED but if theyre slapping on useless skincare products their skin being reliant on those things and theyll end up ruining their skin 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Retinol is super harsh and kids should not be using it! I fully blame the parents for giving them the money to even buy it because it’s not cheap. I mean, these kids will get hundreds of dollars and just buy whatever they want there. When I was 10 I was at Claire’s buying clip on earrings. My favorites were these frog ones.

I work at a Private School in a boarding house in Australia. Omg these girls between 11 and 15 all have Stanleys, Yeti cups the latest iPhones, all the fanciest skincare and makeup plus Dyson airwraps. They literally bullied me (a worker) because I don't have these things. They all already want boob jobs and facial fillers etc. At that age, I was making cringy videos with my friends of doing cartwheels and just being a kid its so scary.

I think one of the most insane thing about all this is that some of these trends (freckles, buccal fat removal, eye color change, etc.) are things that can be achieved through makeup or color lenses… why would you permanently alter your body and/or risk your life for a trend that'll probably be over within a couple of months? 😭

As someone from gen X it’s super scary how people massively overestimate looks and not aging. The true happiness comes with being confident in yourself, having good friends , being established in your career and that usually comes in your 30s and 40s .. I genuinely feel sorry for the kids who grew up constantly being on instagram which feeds their insecurities.. growing up in 80s and 90s nobody really cared about looks , we were all flawed but this was something totally acceptable. It’s almost like being a human is not ok these days . Scary

SMILING IS GOOD, PEOPLE!!!!! ive had smile lines my whole life!! i love laughing and smiling. I love your video and your personality! I honestly feel like when people get plastic surgery, they generally look worse than before (i don't mean it in a mean way). I think people should get off their damn phones and actually interaction more face-to-face. I have plenty of insecurities and low self-esteem, depression, etc. but that's something that I have therapy for. If people can afford it, there is no reason they shouldn't be seeing a therapist. Thanks for the video!

@@notasaint6770 comestic/plastic surgery for injuries etc where it can drastically improve both physical and mental health is imo fine, you’re not doing it to fit in to social standards made up by unrealistic social media rules, but to improve your injury. Otherwise, don’t go overboard, hard to go back to natural when you’ve got too much plastic injected.

I love that we in the middle east , busy with war, finding food, no electricity, no gas, no shit, this way, we don't have this type of "problems" we have real life issues and suffering. I used to be a doctor in training, i had to do 15 shifts a month with working online just to get by and support my family. Much of this boils down to parents who won't tell their kid 'no'. Most of the little kids accounts, are run by their mothers, who are living vicariously through their kids. It's not the child who is paying for all these astronomically priced skin care products, it's the parent. How is the child getting to Sephora or Ulta to make these purchases? Again, it's the parent. For all these older people, so scared of getting older, that they have all these potentially dangerous things done to their bodies... I'm not fully sure what is the biggest impetus behind this. I would blame the overconsumption of social media, that supposedly is a huge factor in setting the "beauty standards" of the current time. Guaranteed, if we experience even a little bit of what countries who are being torn apart, are experiencing, I expect that having the latest Drunk Elephant products or the latest surgical procedure, will be the least of their worries.

As an elder millienal / gen-x, it wasn't uncommon to see girls getting into makeup around the 8, 9, 10 range. Most were playing around with kids makeup even earlier than that. But few were really going out of the house with more than some lipsmakers. I was wearing makeup at 13 though, like foundation, powder, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, etc. But this was all drugstore brands. There were other girls doing this too (because I wouldn't have been doing it otherwise). And it did become an everyday thing for me to wear makeup all the way through my teen years. It wasn't until my early 20's that I was kinda like "eh, don't need makeup every day". I wasn't even buying high-end makeup until my late 20's. I still enjoy makeup as a form of self-expression, but it's not being worn everyday by me. Hell, I think I should be wearing it more because my products expire faster than I can use them up. Kids are honestly being kids in this situation. They learn from whatever they are exposed to. So if a parent is letting their kid spend that much time on social media (that adults are using) they are going to pick up behavior and habits from the people they are watching, not realizing how heavilly everything is curated and perfected online. Honestly, I'm not sure if I can fully blame parents in my age range either, because the cost of living is so damn high, and wages have never kept up. There's a saying that "it takes a village to raise a child", but that stopped being a thing in the US during the 50's. Today, parents may have to work long hours, work multiple jobs, or take on side-hustles just to make ends meet. It's no wonder that parents put kids infront of an ipad. So the internet becomes the village. :/

Because it's not a gen z thing, almost everyone from every generation is obsessed with beauty, it's just that in this generation we can truly see this trait online being exposed in social media. The problem seems to me like one of degree. I was born in the early 90s and in my childhood and teenage years I definitely recount bullying when certain products were not the "right brands" or people didn't do makeup yet (at age 11). So might seem more extreme now but none of this are new problems. Another point to keep in mind: more of the crazy parts are now visible that weren't visible, because there was no social media like now.

I wore makeup once in my life, broke out in a horrible rash the morning after washing it off after prom. My former classmates look a lot older than they say I do, at least in the face. I’m glad I stick to just chapstick.
