I’m still technically “pre everything” but one thing that’s really helped me feel more comfortable in public as a MtF trans person is just acting more effeminate in my mannerisms and speech pattern. This mostly makes me more comfortable when talking to women, as even if they just think I’m a queer man or something, they don’t behave towards me with the same level of friendliness that they did when I presented more masculine.

@@johnwang9914 This is a good question. It depends on the individual. In my case, since I am a binary trans woman, this was part of the whole process of becoming truly authentic and passing. It was important to me not just for my own peace of mind but to be accepted by a sometimes ignorant society around me. The way to make life easier is to fit in. The way to feel authentic is to look like the person you know yourself to be. Others have different needs. Some just feel better pretending femme. This can be because they are mere cross dressers or find that cross dressing greatly reduces their dysphoria. I was not one of those people. Dressing was not particularly important to me. It was merely one piece of the whole package to become authentically female.

@@DeVoe86 A good analogy I think. One of the things I have learned over time, and it is now a year later than my original comment, is that I have instinctively been doing things and acting in ways that society would consider more typical of women. There is a difference between the male and female brain. Having a female brain, it would be reasonable that I would automatically do things in the same way as women, not men. To use your analogy, it means that I have always known that I should swim up a different river or find a different beach than the male crowd I spent most of my life among.

I've been on HRT for 2yrs. Plus I rid myself of my male clothes. I dress in female attire only. Actually the people in the apartment bldg. been very accepting. They treat me very well, they for the most part use the name I choose +pronouns she/her. Almost all with a few exceptions treat me like I was a princess, that's mainly because I'm temporarily handicapped because of an injury I sustained recently. A lot of work on my part & I'll be back on my feet. Actually I feel quite comfortable as I'm right this instant. I don't know how far I'll get but I'm going to get there one way or another. I am slowly exploring a social transitioning by: 1. growing my hair out : "all the haircut places are closed" or "I am afraid of getting Covid" 2. I am replacing many men's shirts with women's shirts. I noticed that many womens shirts look close to mens shirts but button opposite direction. 3. I have already replaced my men's jeans. Slowly replacing my drab men's clothing with women's clothing allows me to ease into the social transition.

Im going for a similar strategy, going for androgyny first, as it seems to be more socially accepted, and when I’m in a safer situation to come out as a woman, then a lot of the obstacles will be already solved. I know someone who did the same and apparently it worked just fine. Hope you’re doing great!

Your videos are indeed extremely helpful! I;m at the point where I get "yes, ma'amed" a lot, but there;s still more work to do. One thing that's surprised me is that it's impossible to predict who will accept my transition, and who won;t. People who I thought were relatively liberal are often less accepting than I would have predicted, while people that I thought were really conservative are often much more accepting than I would have thought. Side note: I live in Pullman, WA, a "college town" that has a lot of diversity, but that is smack dab in the middle of a very conservative area.

I began my social transition in December of 2018. I was on HRT almost a year at that point. I wanted to dress more feminine, but I was still living in the same house with my wife, who showed me very little support. I moved out in March and moved in with two roommates. They have been very supportive and gave me a safe place to further explore my gender expression. In July, I got the courage and confidence to go full-time. Most of my coworkers have been supportive. In public, I've had only one incident of misgendering. Social transition has changed my life. I am much happier and have a new-found confidence. I'm looking forward to your other detailed transition video. Thank you!

Hi, Dr. Z. This video touched on several things I'm pushing through right now that are frustrating, and I'd love to see more content on this. I'm at a stage right now where I feel like I just want to move on to the next phase of my transition, but I feel stuck because my appearance is still very masculine. I'm getting hair removal, but even just after shaving, I have a shadow. I'm on HRT, but it's not magically changing anything yet. I'm growing my hair, but it's still not to the point where I can make it look very feminine. Meanwhile, I had all these goals in mind for myself that are based on timelines I didn't set--my driver's license is going to expire in a few months, and I don't want to get a new one with my old name and gender. My passport is already expired. I'm probably going to have to start going back to the office soon instead of working from home, and I'd rather just donate all those old clothes instead of wearing them again. And I also just want to get on with my life--it feels like every time I use my old name for any purpose is probably going to result in some extra work later, but I feel like people aren't going to take my new name seriously yet. Oh, and there's also the fact that I want to have gender affirming surgeries and I want to get the clock started on "living full-time in the social role." And of course, this is all tied up in my own ideas about what women are supposed to look like. I feel like people won't take me seriously if I look like a man who dresses like a woman, to put it bluntly, and as much as I know that's problematic, I think it's also true. Anyway, love your content--thanks! C.

I play an online multiplayer game (world of warcraft on a private server), and I've decided to come out there. People know you by your characters' names and only communicate with you via text & voice, so there's no new name /dead name issue or visual things to worry about. Plus, if things go horribly wrong, they're all hundreds of miles away and they'd never meet you in person, so there are no safety risks, job risks, family risks, etc. Unlike similar digital means of exploring (like social media), there's next to no chance that your exploratory coming out will find its way to someone you know "in real life".

Now that I have come out to my family I can really be myself, wear what I like to wear and go wherever I feel. Thank you Dr. Z. Your videos are so informative and bring up very important aspects to look into as we all embark on our journey. That is unique to each individual. Because our journey is definitely different from another because God did create us all differently. The beauty of it is that we share our journey with others in order to help lift them up, encourage them and learn from one another as we go through life. And ultimately educate those around us that will listen to understand us. Even though there Will be those who will mock or judge us or worse. But that is their choice.

As I commented on another video, I came to the realization on June 8, 2021 and contacted my Primary Care Physician. Over the next 2 weeks, I PM'd or called close friends and family prior to coming out on Facebook. I'd been crossdressing regularly on the weekends for over a year, off and on over the ~40 years prior to that. When I went on disability during July/August, I started subtle (work appropriate) crossdressing; once I was released off of disability, I returned to work with the desire to respond to a new name and the "new" wardrobe. (I'd been collecting for over a decade.) Everyone at work has been more than supportive, and most of my family and non-work friends have been really great and supportive. I lost only one 40+ year acquaintance when I told her; she hung up and texted me that "Transgenderism is delusional", which kind of hurt, especially since I'd once been close enough to her older sister to take the sis to my senior prom.

Very interesting. I actually started with Billie, feminizing my first name, William and had used it, for years. Then, later on (just this year), after hormones started doing their job, finally came up with my final preferred name of "Olivia Villanelle", changing my last name, as well, which will be legally changed legally, shortly after my FFS, in November. Using "Billie" helped me, a great deal. Especially in that awkward "in-between" stages where one person would assume you were male and another would see you as female, when out in public (Grocery shopping, etc). I've been very lucky, concerning my support base. Most of my friends and family have been VERY supportive, including my Ex wife, and has made the process so much easier. Now I am 100% presenting as female, though still in my process. It's been such a positive experience, for me. I'm very lucky.

Even though some people may be more amenable to the trans community, there is still hostility out there, some of which, shows itself as acts of violence. Whilst trans women should not put themselves in needless danger, neither should they allow sexual bigots to attack them for no reason without putting up a good crushing defence.

Square ones are Celine. Originally made for sunglasses but I converted to eyeglasses. Round black are Tom Ford also originally sunglasses. Seems all large frames are sunglasses.

There are treatments that can stop hair loss and can aid in some hard growth but you need to speak to good hear specialist to get an idea what will work best for you.

My name is Felicia Ann. I got that name from high school call it being the 👿 in the woodpile. I was the only one allowed to slumber parties. I used to help my girlfriends get out of horrible dates. I was the over emotional depressed friend that called at what would be considered inopportune times. This would normally break the date. So in today's world Felicia Ann has a life force. A lot of people call me Felicia

So I may have a unique problem in time. Wife had a double mastectomy do to cancer. Has had reconstructive surgery. I started estrogen again 2 weeks ago. So when I start growing breast im not sure how wife will accept this aspect. Any words of wisdom? Wife does not support me in transition for being trans female. So any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Being married and older is a challenge when coming out as trans. Also, dealing with illness is another thing that complicates transitioning. The most important thing is to accept that you are trans. For me, that goes a long way in sustaining my well being. As far as the other challenges, I take one day at a time and am thankful I am now a better person.

Or the children who are given damaging treatments so that they will "pass better" ... That's why I have an "intrest". I do have a laser hair removal device and I try to practice feminizing my voice with app, cd, and KZfaq information videos.im letting my hair grow out. I need to practice my makeup. I believe it is fairly safe to transition at work because I am currently working where it's a female dominant area. Trying to afford hormones from a transgender porn magizene/ site since I don't have insurance. Because according to my counselor and psychiatrist it's what I need to do.
