This week on the show we speak to former Bonanno associate Gene Borrello. Gene is a complicated guy who is constantly up to something. He led a wild life, cooperated and then came on KZfaq. He recently just got out of prison and is kicking up waves again. We caught up with him about some of his recent behavior and what's next for him.

Joey Merlino is not a rat. He faced the death penalty in federal court in Philly (2001) and in Newark (2004). Never ratted, never cooperated. The government put lying rats on the stand, in both trials. Joey Merlino is a stand-up guy!

Genes a tool, guy was barely even 18 years old in 2000. He lived 2-3 years of the last bit of mob era and acts like he’s grew up in the 70s-90s. Even pictures of him in the early 2000s he dressed like a complete kid. He was just a bad kid that had relations with the last living mobsters.

Gotti signed autographs talking about his fans were his public, Michael franzeese did interview on tv, Greg scarpa did public tv interviews, and the list goes on, and they all did it when they were still in the mob.

Gene's a charismatic guy. He makes me laugh. In life i always knew who not to mess with. There's always going to be people who unintentionally or just screwing around that will have a little dust up that most guys walk away from. Even if Genes is in a good mood he just won't allow it. I don't think he's aware that he needs to mentally prepare for when it happens to just get out of there. I know one or two guys like that and its always a problem. He is also loyal to a fault and hates bullies. He needs to move to the woods or have someone he respects and listens to around him.

No way he ratted, my uncle was locked up in Philly State for 13 years. Said Joey was very head strong for whatever years Joey did. And my Uncle was friends with all these Italians before prison and at 70 years old still friends with friends of all kinds and the same old school mentality. Joey was definitely not a rat coming from my uncle who got ratted on and called out* Joey's rat by telling him he looked like a rat after joking went too far and fought him before the guy even ratted on Joey and then ny uncle was proven right because the old guys at the time in prison told my uncle he can't say that with no proof and my uncle telling them he told them so in a friendly way how much they loved my uncle. Before during sand after prison.

I haven't spoken to my uncle in a couple months, need to call him, and check up on him, lol he's 70 years old, had a kid almost a year ago with his new wife and still from something personal waited for a wedding to be over and cracked a kid in the head with a baseball bat here in North Jersey for something his ex wife made this kid(her nephew do to disrespect his new wife) and is going to court for it now lol. When he told me about these stories when I took a trip with him to Ohio he wasn't talking about the mob, he was speaking from memories and reliving them while telling me about them, about him and Stanfa(literally his twin in looks and accent and mannerisms) being locked up first and playing some game in the jail before the sentencing in PA(don't know the name off hand). Then I asked about Merlino and said "he was a skinny guy, would run up and down the stairs working out", then I asked him "how was he though tough guy?" He said "very strong mentally I give him that". And this was about 4 years ago we took that trip to Ohio for business he had to do.

One thing I do like about Gene is that he stuck up for the guy who was being bullied and even came close to getting another charge for it. I can’t help but have a bit of respect for him for that. I was in prison 3 times when I was in my 20s and I had similar experiences and had a couple of fights myself because I wouldn’t just sit there and watch someone being abused and bullied. I always hated bullying particularly in jail because you can’t get away from it and it takes a certain type of arsehole who picked on someone just because they can’t fight back. No one ever tried to bully me because they knew I would fight back so I hated people who only wanted to fight with people who didn’t fight back.
