Mama's loyalty (or Mum as they call her here in the UK) ...is most important to everyone! Unfortunatly human beings don't think that loyalty is important; which is why parents in many parts of the world hit thier own kids. It is a dishonour to the world and to the human race! Human's make me sick.

My mother passed away from cancer in 2022. Since then I'm listening to this song at least twice a year - in may, when her birthday is and in september, when she was gone. I'm terribly sorry for every word of love left unspoken and every word of anger I let to come out of my mouth when she was alive. It's almost impossible to forgive myself for all the sadness I've brought to her wasting my life in vain.

As you say that you have wasted your life.... In the end, you have to make your life what you want it. It is your life, and you cannot undo the past. Unfortunately in my case it is the other way around, my mother did not believe in me and people would not let me do something with my life; and I have ended up fighting with my mother because I do not want to waste my life. In the end it is your life, do with it what you want!

Phil Collins voice is amazing but you can't help but appreciate how complicated that musical composition was. I've never heard anything so complex and haunting before. It's unique music like this that can stand the test of time.
@maisiegd082 жыл бұрын
It's actually a very clever use of only 4 major chords & 1 minor chord to create something far more complex. The almost mechanical Linn Drum pattern & eerie atmospheric ARP Quadra synth patch create an dark musical picture that is ultra captivating. Ghosts by Japan is another song that uses excellent sound programming to create an ultra complex sounding arrangement. Both are classic 80's tracks that are unfairly overlooked for the more commercial songs of this great musical decade.
@alicaramba76802 жыл бұрын
Composition of this song follows a pattern millions of songs were written: intro-verse1-chorus1-verse2-chorus2-bridge-verse3-chorus3-ending. It lacks pre-chorus part which is common in many songs. Maybe extended bridge part sounds unusual today but back then many rock acts implemented it, usually reserving it for guitar solo.

PUBLICITÉ inRead invented by Teads From an interview in 1983 called "Three into One" : "Our manager, when he first heard it, thought it was about abortion, the kind of feeling of the, you know, the fetus, if you like, saying to the Mother 'Please give me a chance, can't you feel my heart, don't take away my last chance', all those lyrics are in the song but in fact what it is, is just about a young teenager that's got a mother fixation with a prostitute that he's just happened to have met in passing and he has such a strong feeling for her and doesn't understand why she isn't interested in him. It's a bit like Niven in 'The Moon's A Balloon', I don't know if you've read that book, he's very young, just come out of cadet college or whatever, and he meets this quite, you know, 45 year old prostitute who he has a fantastic time with. He's special to her but it definitely can't go any further than what it is and that's really what the song is about, with sinister overtones. " - Phil Collins. I had never been that much a fan of Phil Collins, and as a kid remembered this as the weird laugh, mildly depressing song. But still it was somewhere in my memory as one step above the usual level.. Then, the other night, 25 years later, I heard it on the radio, driving under the rain on a lost mountain road, on my way to army training.. Gave me chills from the beginning to the end. The musical construction, the vocal performance, the raw emotion carried are out of this world. An old Argentinian lady once told me "you're too young to dance Tango. To really understand Tango, you must have suffered in life. To the point of insanity. Have experienced the absurdity of existence. And now just like that I realised the same goes with progressive rock....

Lyric: I can't see you, mama But I can hardly wait Oh, to touch and to feel you, mama Oh, I just can't keep away In the heat and the steam of the city Oh, it's got me running and I just can't brake So say you'll help me, mama 'Cause it's getting so hard, oh-ooh Now I can't keep you, mama But I know you're always there You listen, you teach me, mama And I know inside you care So get down, down here beside me Oh, you ain't going nowhere No, I won't hurt you, mama But it's getting so hard, oh-oh, ahahahah! Can't you see me here, mama? Mama, mama, mama, please? Can't you feel my heart? Can't you feel my heart? Can't you feel my heart? Oh-woah Now listen to me, mama Mama, mama You're taking away my last chance! Don't take it away Can't you feel my heart? Ahahah, ahahah, oh It's hot, too hot for me, mama But I can hardly wait My eyes, they're burning, mama And I can feel my body shake Ah, don't stop, don't stop me, mama Oh, make the pain, make it go away No, I won't hurt you, mama But it's getting so hard, oh-ooh Now I can't see you, mama But I know you're always there You taunt, you tease me, mama But I never, never, never can keep away It's the heat and the steam of the city Oh, mama, got me running and I just can't brake So stay, don't leave me, mama 'Cause it's getting so hard, oh Don't go! No, no, don't go! D-d-don't go! Don't go! No, no, no, don't go! Don't leave me here, don't go! Don't go!
