Hi Leigh, what would be nice and very appreciative my many I suppose is if you could kindly demonstrate all the FreePlay Styles presented in the mega super Yamaha Genos2. I seem to think that Yamaha does not give these styles very much importance as they are not even listed on the owners manual nor on the Data List! I bought this beautiful Yamaha Genos2 in particular for these style. As a classical pianist, I seem yo love composition and FreePlay Styles could be a great inspiration and tool for great results. Well done once again for such presentations.

Hi Leigh Another great demo. I was thinking you could take this instrument into Abby Road, play a selection of songs for forty minutes and the vast majority of people listening to the outcome would not even know it was a single instrument. Back in the nineties when I was doing a lot of sequencing I would have killed to get voices as good as these!

Many thanks for another enlightening demo Leigh. l was a bit disillusioned watching the launch after certain idiots ruined it with their ill founded comments. But thanks to watching your demos it has helped show how good the Genos 2 is and convinced me it's worth trading my Genos in for. Now the good news, Friday is G day and l pick up my new Genos 2 after seeing Peter Bartmaan 😁 Xmas has come early, only 3 more sleeps 🤣

Job well done Leigh. I’m pretty sure that ‘Mega Hit’ is meant to be ‘Atemlos Durch Die Nacht’. By Helene Fischer. Certainly Intro 3 would strongly suggest that. Pop Rumba is certainly “Die Hôlle Morgen Fruh - Mambo Jazz style” by Helene Fischer and Beatrice Egli.

Has the Genos 2 a Leigh Wilbraham style installed?

You can actually hear, what (German Schlager) Song the Intros and Outros are based upon. You probably don't know - OldiesSchlagerPolka is based upon "Manchmal möchte ich schon mit Dir" of Roland Kaiser.

Hi Leigh, Love your Genos2 videos! I actually just received mine yesterday. After watching you demo the style for days now (I have ADHD and this is my new rabbit hole :), I couldn't help myself. The funny thing is I don't even play piano. My 12 year old son is getting very good at trumpet, so I figured I can learn some of the AI left hand to be his backing track. 🤓 My question to you: What would be the best resources to learn some of the fun songs you play? Should I get standard piano notes and then scribble in the AI Fingered shortcuts to learn? Are there Keyboard notebooks that already are made for the automated Left hand? I would also love to join your GenosClub if you have some "How to play this song" videos maybe with PDF notes, for us beginners that need to learn the playing also.

Hi Leigh, I have enjoyed all of your demonstrations and have watched some of them more than once also I have watched other performers, none however come up to your prowess, as I mentioned before I have ordered a Genos 2 but no luck with getting it so far. In all the demos I have watched none have said anything about the playlist and what it contains, perhaps you could enlighten us. All the best Ron Kendall

As always, you're presentation of the new Yamaha Genos2 which in my opinion is the best professional arranger-workstation flagship on the market! I so noticed and you're so correct about it that the sliders need to be adjusted to get the correct volume of the parts correctly! Once you do that, is there a function that you can save those corrected volume for that particular style?

Hello Leigh, i live to hear you playing on the Genos2. You inspire me with your talent… i have downloaded the Genos premier packs (i didn’t see any for the Genos2)from the Yahama website onto a flash drive but not yet imported them into the Genos2 ….Will they play on the Genos2 keyboard ?

The one style with the string intro is "Aber bitte mit Sahne" (= Please do adding cream) by Udo Jürgens. For having both Genos 1 and Genos 2 - could you say if they significantly changed these styles or are they mainly the same?

Regarding the accompaniment volumes, you are right. However I tend to view this from another perspective. I think Yamaha clearly wanted to avoid styles being too "in your face" and left room for vocals - which hear me out, may be the right approach. By this logic, the selected OTSes are mostly lead instruments / voices meant for cutting through for brief phrases or solos, yet even so, I find them being unbalanced towards sounding harsh. So from my point of view, the easier fix would be to lower the OTSes a click; you can always raise the main. But maybe there are a lot of light fingered players out there, who knows. 🤷‍♂ Also, can you try fiddling a bit with the style dynamics? They should be bound to the second rotary encoder by default I believe. Is that relevant for drums only, or does it affect the other instruments as well? 👀 Thank you!

Well, now I'm confused. LOL So I was checking out for Genos 2 in my area, but came across a video from Yamaha, over 4 years ago, about, what I think is an "update" for the Genos, called Genos V 2.0. Supposedly a lot of new (at that time) features, but also something about 3 Gig memory or something, which might be hardware. So as I don't have a Genos as yet, does anyone know what the difference is between that update, V 2.0 and an actual Genos 2? Right now, the Genos is on sale big time, so with that V 2.0 update, is there really much difference between that and the new Genos 2 ??

Why don't you turn on auto-fill? So each time you press variation button, it plays a fill (no need to press "break", which is for different purpose I think - in this case, when you have autofill off, to play a fill you need to press the current variation button + next variation). The fill will better suit the variation sound than "break" button. Looking forward to rock section!

Is the Yamaha Genos 2 blind user friendly!?

May not be the correct place for this, but I'll share. I really like using "AI full keybaord" because it lets me play in a way that is comfortable to me (Generally octave and fifth in the left hand). I also move the split to C3 for this. But I wish the Genos would respect the split point for the "Right" voices. It fine with a piano, but if you want to add Sax or horns, it a muddy mess. Would be really cool if "AI full Keyboard" had two modes, Full AI keyboard for forming the chords and not sounding the "Right" voices over the entire board, and "AI full keyboard" where it does use the full keyboard for both forming chords and the "Right" voices. I could enable a register to switch Finger Type, but I found to change Finger Type, the register must include a Style (or am I missing something). Heck, if that is my only complaint, then I really don't have much to complain about.

Leigh, @24 minutes in, and this is only a guess, 10s and 20s probably refer to 2010 and 2020. But, as I've said previously, I'm stuck way back in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s of the last century, so I really don't know the music of the 2000s (or even the 1990s or 1980s!) So, if you can't buy everyone a Genos, can you buy them all a Coke? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7x9Zch9zdzXg4E.html I agree with you on the sliders. Depending on where you've left them, as you switch styles, you may have to move them a lot to get them to 'catch' up. By the way, TO ME, when you were moving the slider up and down to the next light, it DID sound, to me, like it wasn't going up until it hit the next light. That's what I heard from here. One could hope that they'll update the software at some point in the future to move instantly to the position of the slider, or, at least, give you the option to choosing which you'd like to do. I'm still impressed with the keyboard. We know that anything that man designs is going to have some issues, but the Genos 2 is a very good keyboard.
