Maybe he was working out the arrange, this is a very intricated smoth jazz chord progress, George himself writted, produced and composed the whole Faith album, he plays all the instruments himself on several songs, on Kissing a Fool he plays the bass, on Monkey he play every instrument

Ronan Dee I think Debbie Gibson was like a female version of George Michael. In the 80s and 90s she was in my opinion honestly she was at his level in terms of songwriting and her voice.

When I very first heard this (around '88) I instantly loved it so much ❤ . But it was like "Who is THAT" I didnt know who it was that had such a beautifull voice at the time and had that lovely jazzy feel to it . When I learned it was George I was so amazed by that feeling that he'd matured so much in his music with this song . His voice in the crescendo in the Bridge and then back to that calm telling of the story in the finale . Just so wonderfully superb ❤ What a guy 😊❤⚘ What a song .

You are right, they should, they could, but we all know: no-one has the talent of this great man. He is just perfect in every way.This song is perfect too, I guess he was just exploring in this Jazz-Terrain, but what a genius he is/was turned out as one of his master piece. This song is so under-rated, but for fans with a bit jazz-vein is the favorit song of all times. Simply a song of the "King of the (music)World." I can't listen to it without tears. This song is so beautifully crafted. The arrangement, the cadence, the reverb, the perfect paraphrasing, the warmth of his voice... Just a Classic Rythm & Blues, but what makes it so appealing is the sincerity in his voice. You just feel like hugging him and stopping his hurting.

I agree completely with everything you say, Victor Ram. It is clear that this song has a strong, personal meaning for George Michael. According to the Wikipedia entry on Kissing A Fool, Michael wrote the song to express his concerns that he was not suitable material as a romantic partner because of the 'baggage' (and fame) that he came with; he also apparently recorded the vocal in a single take -- this was also a hallmark of Aretha Franklin. What is apparent is that his interpretation of the song makes it a torch-song. :-)
