Yeah, he received a lot of hate from idiots who can't fathom that he's just playing a role. Same with Lena Headey. Sad really, because they are both kind-hearted people and fantastic actors who deserve all the respect. It's harder to play a role, if it's in contrast to your own character.

Adam Garcia Good stories don't follow character tropes, though. George likely has more in mind than making Rickon's story predictably pointless. At least a decent less predictable pointless ending for his character's development would be him becoming King in the North or something at the very end of the story (assuming Jon's likely death).

GraverGames I don't follow the books, but it seems to me that GRRM created the direwolfs to be a representation of their owner's fates or destiny. I certainly understand the criticism though and I have no doubt that the books are better, but I fucken love the show haha.

Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the show for the first four seasons. Best tv there's ever been, and even the past two seasons are still amazing tv, just not as much when compared to the books. Direwolfs definitely represent parts of the characters' personalities, but I'm not sure they really mean much when it comes to their fates. Take Sansa's direwolf, Lady, being killed in episode 3?...for example. Kind of doubt Sansa ever dies in the story, but Ghost and Shaggydog definitely have very similar histories/personalities to their owners.

GraverGames yeah, it's a shame they've had to diverge so much from the books, I would also be frustrated, but then again tv shows don't have the luxury of being books that can fit so many things into 100s of pages and the creators of the show have said they can't have more than 10 episodes a season because of financial reasons. Also no offense to GRRM because he's a genius but he still isn't finished with the books so it makes sense that they've had to change things up. Although some of those changes they've made have been dumb imo. Nevertheless I still love it.

To be fair, if Conan knew about it, it was either already in the books, or had aired on tv. If it aired on tv, its no longer a spoiler, and if its in the book, technically its also not a spoiler as, whilst the tv hasn't mentioned/caught up to it, the information is out there. Same with harry potter, dobby dies in the last book/second last film, whilst when the movie came out this was something that would have annoyed the non book reader fans, the information had already been there in book form since 2007, so its not technically a spoiler as you could easily find it out, and it was three years old.

I know i sound illiterate when i say this, but they're just too complex, often times they'd mention people, i had to sit there thinking who the hell they were talking about. However, i have watched a bunch of videos on the many sub plots in the books which are not featured on the show, and the many layers of depth and story lines which aren't in the show. I also know that the show and books are going in two separate directions, so i want to finish the show before i give the books another try.

I dunno what you talking about. I'm that kinda guy who gets really annoyed after any kind of changes while watching a book adaptation, but in game of thrones these changes were so small or insignificant that I just don't give a damn

The change's this season have been super insignificant. If you are talking about different scenes, there's a TON of filler this season. If you want a season that deviates from the book's a lot, arguably season 2 is probably the worst offender, SO many thing's are different.

I haven't read the books, but I do watch a lot of reviews and discussions and read a lot of articles after each episode that detail what was different and what was the same... and from what I can surmise, even at it's most different... this is still one of the most faithful adaptations in motion picture history. Anybody complaining about differences is splitting hairs and not looking at this in perspective to how different most adaptations are. This is a big pet peeve of mine with books fans. They're often way too married to the original material. This is because when you read a book, you're imagining it in your head, so you can make it just the way you like it. Whereas a show is presenting it in a more concrete format and you have to accept it more or less the way it is. You'll find that some book fans are more accepting, because they probably aren't as stubborn about having things just so. But some book fans are so stingy about wanting the EXACT SAME experience they had when reading the book, that there's no hope for the show to ever be able to read their mind and present things exactly the same. The worst example of this that I saw recently was a guy on KZfaq who was complaining that the Oberyn vs Mountain scene was "ruined" in the show, because it didn't do things EXACTLY the same way. He had imagined this scenario where Oberyn purposely lost the fight to be a martyr, and was disappointed that the show didn't explicitly convey that, even though other book readers were telling him that the book never explicitly conveyed that either, it was just a fan theory and that this scene was one of the most accurate to what was in the book. But he was adamant that it was "clearly" conveyed through the subtext (bit of a contradiction there) that Oberyn had thrown the fight. He had imagined the scene in a way that he liked when he read it, but the show just presented the scene as it was. The disparity wasn't between the show and the book, it was between the motion picture format and his imagination. I find that many book fans have this problem when they complain about differences. The show may do things differently, or even sometimes exactly the same, but if it FEELS different than what book fans liked when they read the book, then they're upset. I feel like a lot of people have unrealistic expectations with adaptations a lot of the time. Their expectations are too specific. Adaptations often are not supposed to get the details exactly the same, they're just concerned with getting the big picture captured. The overall arcs and themes. Not necessarily specific traits, moments, details or subtexts. Any adaptation that DOES do those things should be considered to be going the extra mile, not "doing it properly", because there is no proper way to do an adaptation. And slavish faithfulness to details doesn't necessarily make an adaptation good. Take The Shining for example. Stanley Kubrick changed things substantially in his adaptation of it, and it's a transcendent film that has a revered place in film history. Whereas Stephen King wrote an adaptation of it for a tv movie in the 90s that was more faithful, but it was a terrible movie. Sometimes, making changes to suit the strengths of a different format are what's necessary to make a good piece of art. I'd take that over blind faithfulness any day. And I have heard book fans say that some scenes have been better in the show than they were in the book. Sansa's defence of Littlefinger at the Eyrie, for example. Apparently that was really different in the book, but the way the show did it was actually more interesting. Maybe other scenes are worse, but you win some, you lose some. Take the good with the bad, and keep the big picture in mind.

A.W.S. Vids My complaint is more of how the timeline has changed more then anything else. The Viper vs The Mountain was good, and Oberyn didn't throw the fight per say more of got caught up in his revenge instead of finishing him off. Still gets him though, because a Dornishman's blade has a terrible kiss......hint hint ;)

Well, Tyrion is kind of a hobbit, but yeah more interesting by far, and totally in line with GRRM except Gollum becoming the hero. Martin wouldn't champion a complete antihero. An underdog like Faramir or Eomir is more likely to replace the all too squeaky clean Aragorn who would have died by book 2 for sure :)

Cleftjaw was pretty much a different character, they really fucked up his portrayal. Xaro still has some part to play, but nothing major, so I guess it''s okay. Too bad Irri is dead, now we won't see her and Danny's sex scene O.O Although Missandei (who is not a kid in the show) is still there!

Not a big deal, but they changed deaths of Rorge and Biter in the newest episode. Instead of dying when fighting against Brienne, they just, bleh, check out the newest episode. Actually, they have changed a lot deaths for minor characters.

Qarth was quite bloody in the show. But I am not sure Xaro Xhoan Daxos is dead. When he shows up later I wouldn't be suprised. And dragons also burned Pyat Pree in the show, in the books Drogon burned giant rotten heart.

Mason Haney Xaro got locked in the vault but we didn't see him die so he could have escaped through a secret back door or some servant or something came back and let him out.
