@robertmailhos8159 This type falls off if the carb isn't bolted down. That's a good thing while taking it apart, but a pain in my.. when putting it back together. Lol

@@GuysPlayingWithTools I saw that in this video on your cleaning The gas pick up tube on this one I need to get My snapper rear engine rider back it has a Tecumseh 13 h.p over Head valve with a carburetor that is a one off style of carburetor it is not the round bowl style The carburetor is the type that is equipped with a special type of spring that holds the gas bowl to the bottom of it plus it is a one off style of carburetor wish I had a picture of it to send you

Nice classic Toro Bill. Those Tecumseh carburetors are one of the weaker points on these engines. That, and the crankshaft seal under the flywheel usually leaks.

My pressure washer has a 7-something Briggs that I'm going to do just this after I put a tank drain on it. Good old cutting torch tip cleaners. Greetings, Bill!

It appears that you could do this while the carb is on the mower. I actually did this with my mower a few days ago leaving the carb on the engine. I removed the bowl and float and needle. Used a wire to clean the jet like you did and also used brake clean to blast out the jet, clean out the bowl which had gunk in it and blasted out the seat. The gunk in the bowl is what plugs the jet. Ran good afterwards.
@GuysPlayingWithTools
@GuysPlayingWithTools 4 ай бұрын
I could have, I honestly thought about it, but I couldn't get a good camera angle. You are 100% right about the bowl. Dirt from filling the tank tends to accumulate in the bowl.
@Mike88GT
@Mike88GT 4 ай бұрын
@@GuysPlayingWithTools in my case it was fuel gunk, I had previously installed an inline filter and fuel shutoff, however failed to use the shutoff well over a year ago... My fault. I was going through a divorce and didn't feel like doing anything much less cutting grass. It's better now. your video is good illustrating how to clean the jet simply.

@Mike88GT I say it in almost every video... it's always the carb. I feel for you on the ex. I have been down that road myself. It took a couple of tries to find the right one.

@@GuysPlayingWithTools Correct - usually the carb, old fuel, lack of an inline filter and shutoff which should be included on small engines. You have good information. Nice work.

Does that TVS195 have the side hole in the jet?
@GuysPlayingWithTools
@GuysPlayingWithTools 4 ай бұрын
It does. I am pretty sure all the "Bolt Jets" have side holes and a center hole. I haven't seen one without side holes yet but... the day is young 🙂
@haneyoakie14
@haneyoakie14 4 ай бұрын
@@GuysPlayingWithTools the side hole is so small that it is frequently missed and easily clogged. My bread tie is usually too thick to go through it. A straightened paper staple is just about the right diameter in my experience. I agree the muffler removal is the first step to a Tecumseh carb service. And if the carb is going to be totally opened, removing the intake manifold from the engine then the carb from the manifold is the best way. And marking the correct hole on the throttle plate, since there are usually about 6 possibilities. Good job on those Tecumsehs. My #1 engine is the Quantum, but the TVS195 is a close #2. The sound they make is the sound of the mower Dad had when I was a teenager and we were working in the yard together.
@GuysPlayingWithTools

@haneyoakie14 The Quantum is my #1 too. Get a cheap roll of floral wire, and you will start using it for everything. It's the perfect stiffness and size for cleaning out carb holes
