Flying is safer than driving
@Wangpi3ce5 ай бұрын
@@XtraTerrestrial_519 Only because the vast majority of aviators are intelligent and skilled individuals. It takes a fair amount of effort to get a pilot certification, including medical checks in some cases. Any pin headed prick with a few grand scraped together can get on four wheels, so of course flying will _seem_ safer, just looking at statistics. But if any major mechanical failure happens, especially in a helicopter, you are in a fair bit more trouble than if the tire on your car blows.

In the late 1970s I was a crew chief of a U.S. Army UH-1(Heuy). One day over a civilian area we had a hose split. We had a trail of black smoke following us. We put it down nice and safe. Within a few minutes we had police, fire, EMS and the local news all over us. It was like a three ring circus. Someone had called in a aircraft crash. We contacted the base got what we needed, I repaired the craft and we return to base. Makes for a good story to tell the grandchildren. Let's them know once upon a time grandpa was cooler then they are. GOOD TIMES, GREAT MEMORIES. 😊

The very first time l observed a Sea King crew practicing auto rotation landing, I honestly thought it was going in. I raced up the hill (as the Airfield was above my horizon), both puzzled, why there wasn't a greasy plume of smoke or upon cresting, and relieved at seeing it then lifting off safe and sound, was l educated a tad at the mysterious world of rotary winged flight. Nearly had a heart attack that day...😅

@pilsplease7561 that is unfortunate you've had negative experiences with lw enforcement when visiting here. I was with the Alberta Highway Patrol prior to joining the military as an MP. I would have regular interactions with Americans in the trucking industry as well as tourists from time to time. I can only think of a few instances where things weren't totally cool between us. I remember one lady who repeatedly circumvented the requirements to report at the weigh scale with her tour bus. She had to be reminded she in a foreign country and needed to obey the law or she could ask to have routes that didn't include crossing the border. Otherwise, my American interactions were always cordial.

Tell them immediately sorry to intrupt officer but as you can see I am licenced to carry, my firearm is located xyz, how would you like to proceed. Immediately the officers let down their tension and can tell right away through all that I'm just dude exercising their rights, and often we small talk about different hands guns, what they carry etc. Create that initial rapport as most police officers are pro 2A and not once have I got ticket, only earnings. Officers can see right through bullshit or an honest person! atleast here in Illinois, when they run your plate before contact it will tell them licenced owner, even though not illegal to tell them unless asked, it's just simple commen sense and respect that officers don't hear enough of.
