Getting Into Cruising. How did I get into cruising? What a great great lifestyle? Let me explain..
Take a look at our channel / motorsailingforolddudes
We cruise extensively along the East Australian Coast on our 13 meter catamaran. Join us as we explore new cruising grounds, cross bars, fix all kinds of problems, ride out rough weather and live aboard for extended periods.
We even have a playlist that gets us on other peoples boats.
We hope that our videos encourage others to get on board and experience this fantastic lifestyle.

Fantastic to hear your history Norm - not boring at all! Take care in the rain-drenched region you are now in. Stay safe and instead of “stay out there till you can’t”, get out of there when you can! 👍

Enjoyed that! Cruising the east coast has been a dream since we migrated to Oz. I take your point about age. I am still working at 68 but off on a sick leave at the moment after a prostate removal. We do cruise Moreton Bay on our 8 metre trailer sailer which we berth at Runaway Bay and watching your channel really has us looking at alternatives that will give us the means to do more serious cruising. One of my sons is looking at sailboats in the 40' range so it may work out for us! Keep the channel going!

Norm. Interesting video. I'm coming up 45. I've been building my F22 Trimaran for the last 10 years or so now. It's a pretty complicated , labour intensive and expensive boat to build. The kids are pre teens and we still have a couple of home loans we're working on paying off. I love the idea of going sailing full time before I get too old. I dream of sailing around Australia. F22 is a bit small for living on full time but if It was just me most of the time, with the occasional crew, I could do it, so long as it is set up well. Your storey was definitely not boring and provides food for thought as to how I can do the same thing.

thoroughly enjoyed hearing the snapshot of your life, what struck me was the philosophy you have on life, do what you can, when you can and do it till you can't. It was a beautiful and honest parting of ways between two people who needed to go their separate ways. I may not , more than likely not, lol, take up the cruising life, but I hope to take with me a lot from your videos on my own journey thru retirement ( which begins now at the tender age of 61 lol ). cheers and i ho0e you make tassie at the end of the year. Hi Norm. Pat from Pelican, Norwalk Island Sharpie, Lady Musgrave, Cape Capricorn. Great history on your life, you didn't touch on your guitar skills and concerts? I really felt an affinity for the childhood you grew up in. My dad work at Fords Geelong WW2 building 40ft workboats and went on after the war to build 22 plywood runabouts. We water-skied at Pt Henry in Corio Bay every weekend and holidayed at Indented Hds on the Bellarine Peninsula. And at 77yrs now I am outfitting a 30ft sailing catamaran, not as comfortable but twice as fast as yours. Perhaps its insanity but the other option doesn't sit well. Anyway, thanks, good sailing and well done. Pat

The answer to fuel costs, Norm, is more sail power. Maybe time to add a mainsail and an MPS and switch those engines off. Have a safe trip down the coast. We're still pluggin away on the Easy 10.5 here in Gladstone. Ron
