In this episode, we are down on the Lower Roanoke during the late winter/early spring Striper run. This is an amazing fishery and a wild and beautiful place. Captain Bud Bishop (contact info below) of Mott Ridge Charters knows these waters very well as you'll see in this video.

Nicely done, Halty - your voice-overs and narration combined with tight, snappy visuals are impressive. Really enjoy your work.

I enjoyed that part where a gar came to the surface and you pitched at it then cut to another clip to make it look like it was a striper....well played lol

Awesome video! Nice catches! May need to book a trip. Will need to bust out a coin, for best out of 5, to see if it should be a striped trip or trout trip. Keep up the great work with the vids and the awesome content!

Nice video. Bud knows his stuff. He is a great fisherman at every fishery. Got to fish with Bud a few weeks back. Had a fantastic day rock fishing. I will charter with him come summer when trout move back to the coast

Hwy 45 State Ramp. Very nice public ramp just off the Roanoke River.

Man another top quality video. I am in awe each time you go out with the fish you catch and the way you are able to bring us into the video with you the way you film it. Awesome job to you and Bud knows his stuff for sure! Congrats brother!

I caught 35 yesterday (3-1-23) around Williamston while crappie fishing. When using 4-6# test, they can be a nuisance. Lol

What kinda action on those rods? I know next to nothing about catching stripers. Video is great as always.
@haltysalty7537
@haltysalty7537 Жыл бұрын
same rods we use for most inshore stuff, reds, trout, etc. Fast medium action, 7 ft. 3000 reels

sensitive tips are important. Stripers can spit a bait pretty quick if you don't get the strike.

Yeah, I noticed the sensitivity of those rods and how important that is to actually hooking up. Thanks!

@HaltySalty the action is fast....the power is medium there is no such thing as a medium "action"...action refers to where the rod bends...actions will be extra fast, fast, moderate fast, slow......powers will be light, medium, heavy
