Why not just tie the braid directly to the top barrel swivel? In other words...braid to barrel swivel to fluoro (slide weight) to barrel swivel to fluoro to hook? I feel like there is a good reason that I'm just not wrapping my head around.
@haltysalty7537
@haltysalty7537 13 күн бұрын
Good question! I actually asked Ben the same question and what he said made since to me. It's two part- 1. The double uni knot (braid to leader) and then leader to first barrel swivel, is less likely to break or pull loose than braid to swivel. 2. Braid tied directly to swivel has a tendency to twist up and tangle, which I have experienced many times myself. To me, the second reason is the more important one. Thanks for the question.

@@JohnHoard-xz5pw never a bad option on the knocker rig. And if you think about it, same principle - Bait floating a few inches off bottom, hardly any tension on hook. What length do you like on leader to hook portion from your main weight leader?

Instead of using egg sinkers...ill use a bank sinker with short 1-2" of line to a swivel then just simple run that where you usually run the egg sinker...wont destroy your line.. slides pass your connection knots and great when the sinker snags...itll always pop at the sinker if you use a smaller lb diameter.

@haltysalty7537 14 күн бұрын
That's pretty interesting. And like I said in the description, there's no wrong way to soak bait. What stops the bank sinker/swivel from sliding all the way to the hook?

I’ve always used a heavier mono from my braid because someone told me the mono sat better in the water where fluoro would float off the bottom

I tend to do the same. I think you can get away with heavier mono up top too for strength and also something to grab when needed. Thanks for the comment!

Isn't it illegal to use a drone to spot fish and fish them in the same day in North Carolina?
@haltysalty7537
@haltysalty7537 Ай бұрын
North Carolina law (G.S. 14-401.24) states that it is a class 1 misdemeanor to fish with an unmanned aircraft system (a drone). However, it also specifically states that using the drone for "spotting, locating, recording, broadcasting, or streaming video of fish" or "deploying bait" is an exception to this.

Love your videos, mate. How tight do you have your drag set when the rods are in the holder ?
@haltysalty7537
@haltysalty7537 2 ай бұрын
Great Question. I set my drag on "strike", which is the same tension you would want to fight the fish. No more, no less. This allows the drag to hook the fish. The circle hook sinks in immediately and typically will not come loose. This has been a popular video and I'm getting ready to make a new one in which I clarify in detail many of the questions that have been asked since it's release. Thanks for supporting the channel Craig!

@haltysalty7537
@haltysalty7537 2 ай бұрын
You can't launch them, more like a lob. I can get a few cast before it's time to change bait. Mullet last the longest, they have a tough mouth. With the set up I'm using I can probably cast 30 yards

Atta boy halty!!! Love the little stealth jon. That gamagatsu belly weight hook paired with a zoom super fluke in chartreuse or white is probably the most versatile combo in existence; from rock to specs and river bass it will catch them all. I don't like it with swimbaits tho, the whole magic of that hook/fluke combo is the wiggle as it sinks slacklined.

The 3/16 ounce seems to work good for the setting I was in, 3-7ft water slow retrieve. I think they only offer one hook size for that set up. I've also used the 1/4 but it sinks obviously quicker and would be better in 8-12ft
