thelaughingrouge or in fact because they weren’t trying to achieve what ac has not but instead routed their own path. If they had tried making just ac in Japan the game would have felt generic and trivial. But instead they made a game of passion something Ubisoft can never achieve with their current business model

I did like not having to level up so I could continue with the story like ac or the Witcher. But still I can’t wait to play Valhalla.

Ubi had YEARS to do a Japan game. They had the feedback and could have carried the torch of games like Tenchu and Way of the Samurai. Sucker Punch stepped in and killed it. Assassin's Creed missed it's chance and WONT ever come close to this. I heard Origins was really good and after about an hour i was just straight bored.

This game received a perfect score from Famitsu, a company based in Japan. That in of itself is an achievement.

It got praise from at least two Japanese gaming publications too, and physical copies were sold out of Japanese stores within the first week; from what I understand, that's at least 222,000 copies.

@@Uldihaa I also believe the director/producer of the Yakuza series praised it; he even went as far as to say that Sucker Punch's title was more authentically Japanese than his games.

@@MrPwner911 Yeah, he mentioned that because the characters and world in GOT felt "realistic" or in his words "ugly", if this was a game made by japaneses Jin would have looked like a J-pop star level of handsomeness, but insted he looks like a normal asian person in a grounded, lethal and cruel world.

I love how easy the platinum was to get in terms of actually playing the game completely rather than unnecessary grinding and unrelated tasks

It truly feels like tsushima itself and the people it protects refuses to surrender to khoutan khan, you could interpret the storm that holds the khan from leaving as tsushimas angry demand for retribution

“And then Jin can pet the Fox!” Instant 10/10 must complete all Inari shrines! Oh, they also added a buff to the travelers attire. A lightning bug shows on screen and flies towards collectibles when you’re within range.

Yeah, I kinda wish the new God of War had an armor system like this, where each armor gives a unique ability instead of it feeling copy paste with random boosts to the number of luck you have. In my opinion, they should've just gotten rid of that particular aspect.

One of the great things he didn't even really talk about with this game is just the amount of work they put into decreasing the load times. Most modern games I end up putting down the controller for a bit while it loads (especially the terrible GTAV with its 4 minutes of load times) but in Ghost its litterally 4 seconds to load after teleporting across the entire map. It was absurd how much they were able to cut down on load times in this game compared to other games on this system.

The Witcher 3 was really bad with load times too! I literally fell asleep waiting one time and another time I got hungry and made a sandwich before it loaded!

Yeah, i hate these "Uhm actually" people. I had some people literally cursing that "Sucker Punch obviously put zero effort into this and the game sucks" because Haikus weren't invented then and the Katana wasn't quite that shape yet in that time. Well yeah maybe, but this is supposed to be the romantization of Samurai movies and stories. And let's be honest here, playing a Samurai without a Katana is like playing a Jedi without a lightsaber. Sure you COULD do that, but where's the fun in that? And yeah the atmossphere is awesome. Just did that sidequest in the forest, where it's said ghosts of samurai roam to kill every intruder, so you go in there during a foggy night with ambience music and it was super tense.

Umm actually, Mace Windu in the 2003 Tartakovsky Clone Wars cartoon lost his lightsaber fighting Separatists on Dantooine and had to use his fists, feet, and the Force to kill Roger Rogers and Super Roger Rogers, and that was the TIGHTEST shit (In all seriousness, agree with your comment 100%)

They actually call their swords ''tachi'' in the japanese dub, which is exactly correct. Also, all of the swords in game have a longer and more curved shape than katanas, making them, indeed, tachis. Idk what these people are even on about, they clearly payed attention to a great deal of samurai history, even with the romantization.

I lived on Tsushima back when I was a part of the JET program. It's about 80% mountain forest. It's a good place to set a mythic tale in since you don't have to worry about bungling real historical events too much. Tsushima is a beautiful island, and so it's nice to see that this game seems to capture that feeling. Because so little of the island is actually inhabited by people, you can find beautiful, scenic views pretty much everywhere you go. When it would rain, I would just sit by a window and watch the trees move back and forth with the wind. Sorry, I guess this is irrelevant to the game. Your video just made me feel a bit nostalgic.

Before lethal difficulty was released I wouldn't fast travel across the map, I stuck to stone stance and would face my opponents head on into battle. While being a ninja is a lot of fun, the feeling of slowly walking into an enemy camp and taking down my opponents without a scratch gave me a feeling that I haven't got from any other game.

Oddly enough, I went full Ghost on medium and hard difficulty because I felt that other than using Gosaku, killing enemies normally took too long. Lethal made my Samurai far more fun because I could kill so fast with my sword.

I am by no means a completionist and yet I found myself looking through every corner of the island. Not only that, but I never looked up a guide or map online, I just followed the wind! Ghost is the gold standard for triple A games and immersion in a world and story.

I too loved Yuna as a character. She's good in both showing how totally wrong Jin is at first and how totally loyal she is at the end. Rough, but caring. She is my sneaky, damaged ride or die chick.

i loved the wind mechanic. even though im going to waypoint to waypoint, not having a immersion breaking line but instead of the wind, was a nice touch.

Yeah, in every other game, I’m never looking at where I’m going, but just the little mini map. The wind was a really unique and amazing thing in Ghost.

This game needs New Game Plus, ASAP" coz I'm sick of Breaking character as a mighty Samarai warrior, to go looking through the Bins, looking for Supply's and silk and shit. The amount of times some characters says to me, come quickly lord Samarai, and I pritty much say, hang on" let me go through your house and all your belongings then go through all the people I just killed, Pockets, and then I'll be with you.

@@CreekGamingMontages I'm loving the game but I'm playing it on normal and I'm on my first play through so when I move up to lethal difficulty I'm not looking forward to raiding every house, tent, farm, village, camp, mountain and not to mention, all the birds foxes you follow it doesn't sound logical to do it all again.

I agree. All these cosmetics are great, but I would rather not do all the cosmetic hunts again. But I think John Cortez slept on the wrong side of the bed when he made the comment because it’s constructive criticism. Not a complaint. As a consumer, we have the right to an opinion for the product we receive, otherwise we have as much right not to buy a product. Just hoping he sees this because of the douchey comment he made about “it’s just a game”

Not bad. That first line is six syllables, but than again, haikus weren't invented until some 400 years after the game takes place, and weren't called haikus for another 200, the katana wasn't invented yet as it was a result of adjustments made because samurai tachis proved mostly ineffective or even broke upon Mongolian boiled leather, and Samurai primarily fought with archery, then moved to spears at close quarters and primarily used swords as backup weapons or for duels, so it would be petty of me to nitpick that and not this game.

@Zachary Erickson Well they'd be copying someone in either case. Red Dead is like THE western game at present and it does everything you'd expect from AC anyway. If they want something intriguing, why not a WW2 setting? Perhaps the character is an Nazi deserter who joins first believing its a noble cause but quits once he realizes its far more than he bargained for. It'd basically be a reverse Rogue. Hell, it'd make sense lore wise too. The templars want to resurrect the precursors, and the nazis wanted to create the perfect race

@Zachary Erickson the Mexican-American war would be an awesome setting if it was written well. People do not understand how fucked up that war was. They could even end it with helping the guy (whose name escapes me at the moment) who drafted the treaty of Guadalupe against the wishes of Jackson so he could make it at least slightly better for Mexico.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I ALWAYS wanted an AC game in Japan, even when people were whining about there being "too many samurai games" and that it wouldn't do well (L O L). I haven't even played Ghost of Tsushima yet, but as a pretty hardcore AC fan, I know they'd never be able to make a game of this caliber. I don't want them to butcher it anymore, lol. (I would probably still play it if they did, though, let's be real)

It wont be as good, because Ghost is a pure Samurai game with stealth mechanic(which is something tha tfits the story too) while assassins creed will be just generic ninja game with multiple weapons like other Assassins creed games, also the world inst really that enjoyable to explore because of al the grinding and useless side-quest.

First game I ever platinumed. A cinematic masterpiece. A tale of loss, family, honor, and the consequences in between. Yes, even though we have seen these open world gameplay elements before, never have they been done so well. A true Tour De Force in game design

I played this game recently, and the moment where you learn the ghost stance and do a big push to chase out mongols from that town just mowing down folks was one of the dopest gaming moments for me! Had goosebumps

"I didn't mind doing all the Tales because they were so short and sweet." I just got the Mongolian armor set from the first Tale available in Act III. It required me to liberate two farms and destroy three outposts. That was a 2-3 hour side quest.

@@madas1435 I was playing on Hard, so I had to play carefully and tactically, and I had to travel everywhere without fast travel because I hadn't unlocked any locations in Kamiagata yet, and along the way I had to liberate areas under Mongol occupation as I found them so I wouldn't have to liberate them later. Had I been able to fast travel to those places, yeah, 40 minutes tops.

I expect a sequel since this is doing so well, there was a second mongol invasion 7 years later, and this aint my idea but i love the idea of the shogun secretly recruiting Jin to become the first Shinobi. Maybe even have Tomoe return. i think they're cute together. if not dlc.

I completed everything before the last mission. I didn't plan to, I'm not a completionist, but I wanted to because I loved the idea of liberating Tsushima, and Iki before hand and I got spoiled, and when I played a song for taka's grave in my white ghost armour it felt awesome and complete. I love the care put in this game and it's a rare modern game experience I feel impressed.

I liked how the loot was streamlined, you knew exactly what you could and couldn't ignore and what was for what. How the quests were called Tales. How he would be like "You deserve the best" to his horse. He loved his horse beyond player interaction. There were a lot of little things that really wrapped up the immersion and playability.

I was extremely hyped for this game and I really hoped it be great but I wasn’t prepared for how incredible it the combat is impeccable the story is amazing I love how it transforms you from an honorable samurai to the ghost willing to do anything to save his home. Oh and the graphics are impeccable I’ve never played a game that made me stop and just take it in

I physically cringed when you showed the Kojiro duel I stayed up for hours to beat that guy... I dunno why that was so much harder than everything else. I beat the Kahn first try.

Ace Hunter Blake Did u even play BOTW? The reason it got so much praise was because it revolutionized open world games by giving you the freedom of going anywhere on the map,and being able to climb and fly off of basically everything on the map, and it didn’t hold your hand by telling you where to go. To this day I think it’s the best open world game of all time, but to each their own I guess.

This has been my favorite experience in gaming in all 20 years. And has remained my favorite game since day 1. After not playing for the last 2 months watching this has made my mind. Collecting singing crickets actually let you play songs on your flute that change the weather! Not JUST collectables! Simply so to your gear options, go to accessories, select the song with its associated weather variant, and when you're out and about you can change the weather anytime by swiping left on the touchpad! So even the collectables you said had no real purpose, have a more tangible purpose than all of the non cosmetic collectables in the game!

This is a masterclass game. The one *TRUE* GOTY. The greatest sendoff to the ps4. It had honor, heart, and most importantly, made out of pure love and respect to Japanese culture. Sucker Punch should be commended for creating such a emotional and rewarding experience. I give them more than just mad respect, but a bow of honor. Domo Arigato, Sucker Punch.

damn right we all completed this game. it got to the point where i even took my og ps4 and completely tore it apart, dusted every piece and put in new thermopaste and put it all back together. now my ps4 doesn't sound like it wants to take off too the moon anymore when i play this game.

The game is funny as hell, when you can... speaking from experience... sit for hours on act 1 just collecting and upgrading. I literally had the game stop giving me side quest and force me to proceed. I found 99.9% of stuff on the first section of the game. Largely due to that run into stuff, while getting in tranced by the games open world. God I need to visit Japan.

"Assassin's Creed" should take notes. My favourite parts were the duels. I played this after "Sekiro" so parrying was second nature to me. I don't think I've ever blocked in GoT. Such a shame there weren't more duels. I loved also how my gameplay changed throughout the game. In the beginning stealth was paramount. By the second chapter getting the family armor I did all previous quests and got the collectibles so I relied little on stealth. I'd just challenge the enemies head on. I saw this as a reflection of Jin's progress. In the beginning nobody knows you, you need to build up experience and popular support to become stronger so stealth is necessary. But progressing further you can just barge in a Mongol camp, and openly challenge the enemy because you know you'll win... unless the camera is badly positioned and you miss a strike (most often the first one). I loved exploring the island on foot and see everything. I never felt forced to do side-quests just for completion's sake. I actually cared about everyone I helped. Even the random captives by the roads guarded by a handful of bandits. They reward you with insignificant small stuff, but you take it without saying a word because it's a symbol of dignity and gratitude.

Ghost of Tsushima has been my game addiction from the moment it first came out! What a wonderful game for people who love Asian culture as much as I do! I just wish there was a bit more closure for your closest allies at the end of the game. It's kind of left open to your own interpretation of what became of everyone else. It makes me wonder if they did that on purpose for a future DLC that will include resolution for your allies

I remember the first time I had the duel to learn the Heavenly Strike. At one point in the fight, the opponent asks Jin “what are you doing” to which Jin responds “learning” or “studying” or something similar. I was blown away by that little attention to detail. I went on thinking I’ll just win the fight and it’ll unlock like 99% of games…but they made it realistic. It was awesome. Perfect game.

Honestly haven’t enjoyed just raw exploration in a game like this ever before. Witcher 3 was better at the story of side quests I thought than GOT, but the just pure run around the map and explore was so much fun. I’m trying to do a full 100% and upload a video on it.

I waited to finish the game to watch this. I just finished it two nights ago, and got one of the few platinum trophies or complete achievement lists. Incredible game. I didnt know they added that new difficulty mode. Might have to play through the story in that mode. The scene where you unlock the Ghost stance was the craziest, most epic scenes ever.

I've watched so many reviews of this game and the one thing I notice everyone seems to look over is that the songs you unlock on the flute actually change the weather around you. The last song is my favorite to unlock cause you actually cause a rainstorm anywhere you are.

I also named my horse Sora. This game was released few days after my little pup passed away. Her name was Sara(h) and she was the best friend and partner in the crime. I was surprised when I could name my horse friend with similar name... I was absolutely shattered when you lose your first horse. Losing my sidekick again hurts. I think my absolute favorite thing about the game that made me grin every time was how Jin drew his sword in most duels. The way they focus in on it and the thumb slide to unsheathe it just gives this total feel of bad assery because you know shits about to go down

I think you nailed it, not every part is actually set for that part of time in rural japan. But it lets you live out the life of a samurai that could have been in a Japanese myth or legend itself. Your very own samurai epic

I held off watching this till I got the platinum which was today :) Online they said side missions would sometime glitch & not show for the first couple of months till it was patched. Made me appreciate the game alot while I'm on the mend of recovering from covid-19. Great game & a ton of fun in Kurosawa mode. Always enjoy yea covering Playstation games being my console of choice.
