Love Horizon Forbidden West? Watch my Horizon Zero Dawn review here: • Horizon Zero Dawn Rev...
Join Aloy as she braves the Forbidden West - a majestic but dangerous frontier that conceals mysterious new threats. Explore distant lands, fight bigger and more awe-inspiring machines, and encounter astonishing new tribes as you return to the far-future, post-apocalyptic world of Horizon.
The land is dying. Vicious storms and an unstoppable blight ravage the scattered remnants of humanity, while fearsome new machines prowl their borders. Life on Earth is hurtling towards another extinction, and no one knows why. It's up to Aloy to uncover the secrets behind these threats and restore order and balance to the world. Along the way, she must reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring new factions and unravel the legacy of the ancient past - all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.

This is how you do a proper sequel. You take all the stuff that's good about the previous installment and you amplify it's strengths while also taking the story into a bold new direction that challenges the status quo but also not losing the passion and emotion that made the first installment so special. Some of the greatest sequels of all time have done this. I'm deep into the game's campaign and I can safely say Forbidden West follows in their footsteps. It's honestly becoming one of the greatest games I've ever played and one of the best sequels ever made.

It’s not talking to herself that’s frustrated, per se. It’s the fact that she repeats stuff, like, “that goes to my stash” over and over again, AND, she basically solves puzzles for you if you take longer than two minutes looking. Lol. A lot of us enjoy solving the puzzle, not going to a YT video to solve it for us. So, having our character solve it for us is frustrating.
@PrincessNine
@PrincessNine 2 жыл бұрын
@@derrickvictor8829 she does that? I hear they nerfed the stash and I don't know what you think you're insinuating but I just solve the puzzles in the first game. So I have no reference for this claim that she solves for you. But if that's the case. I kinda don't feel bad. The most taxing puzzle in the first game was from the Frozen Wilds and those never got hints.

I am obsessed with Forbidden West. Been playing every day, several hours, and it still hasn't gotten old. Due to the ever expanding map, gear, and traversal options keeps it fresh. I killed a snapmaw last night that was floating in the ocean. After killing it, it sunk to the bottom. The visuals I got on the PS5 from it sinking, its armor busted off, and the ocean waves and currents moving around was immersive and spectacular.

I did the exact same thing early on, where I did as much as I could of the first area. Honestly, it's a bit of a disservice to go that route - make sure you get into the real meat of the game, come back to a lot of that side stuff in the first area later. It's worth it! Otherwise, pretty much on every level I agree here (the water stuff was bomb though, I loved it) - I'm glad I went for just the Platinum and covered all the sidequests I could fine, but didn't scour every single last percentage point before my own review. I would've pulled my hair out, and I don't have much of that left to begin with. The Plat is honestly perfectly designed to me as a sampler, to encourage everybody to do everything once, do the important stuff in full, and then take your time doing whatever else you want without stressing about it for a trophy. That Jirard struggled after a full month to get that 100% makes me feel a bit better after giving up on doing 100% for my own takes on the game - I mean hell I had like three days lol, and for two of them the melee pits and arena just didn't load in!

Re Aloy talking to herself: When I was a kid I went to a private school 20 miles away from where I lived. There were no kids my age on my street so I had no friends outside of school. I spent so much time alone (not unlike Aloy) I took to talking to myself probably just to break the constant silence. Luckily when I was 8 we moved and I went to a public school not far from home. I made lifelong friends and had a pretty good childhood from that point forward. That said the odd habit of talking to myself when performing a task at work or doing chores around my house hasn't left me. I find it helps me to stay focused on what I'm doing.

I'm playing on PS4 Pro, and the game runs very smoothly. I prefer 60 fps in every single game that it's available, but the 30 is so solid, I honestly can't tell a difference. Nothing like the framerate in The Last of Us Remastered, where I felt a dramatic difference between the 60fps and 30fps options. And the game is absolutely gorgeous, and I bet base PS4 players will say similar things. Popin is an inevitability on all versions of the game, and it hasn't hurt my experience (and I've been extremely bothered by it in games before, probably due to the ADHD). I really liked the first game, but so far, I love this one. Edit: for reference, it's like the difference between Tomb Raider 1 and Tomb Raider 2.

Horizon to me is such a breath of fresh air that reminds me why I love gaming. The fact that Kojima selected the Decima engine after meeting with almost all the 1st party Sony studios for use in Death Stranding should speak volumes to the quality of the engine.

I did not expect to feel so involved at one specific moment! I also enjoyed the mix up off the cauldrons and the tallnecks, not just copy pasting them but making each somewhat individual. This story was amazing. The gameplay was different from my norm. And it was a blast. So getting this one......it was on a completely different level. I played on the PS4, since finding a PS5 at a reasonable price is as difficult as finding meaning in a Paulie Shore movie. And despite the blackout screen.......it was fantastic. Absolutely amazing. I do not think I have ever seen a sequel truly improve on what was in such a massive way as Forbidden West did. As I finish my second playthrough, and head off for God of War/Eldin Ring......I say do not lose this game within the hype of the others. This one is worth every moment of time.

I've been watching your content now for several years and you've inspired me to become my own version of a completionist too. Though I only complete games in the terms of achievements in the game I've found fulfillment in doing so. I wish you the best in both your career aspirations and in all your personal goals and dreams. Thank you for giving me my own way to enjoy games! A lot of the games I play now I wouldn't likely have done so if it wasn't for your channel. Keep living your best life!

Man, I can’t wait for the DLC and third instalment in this series. I originally bought Zero Dawn, sight unseen, knowing absolutely nothing about the game, for $20 back in 2019. Needless to say I’m happy with that decision. These games are some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing a video game. If anyone is on the fence about playing them, I’d say you should definitely try them out, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I haven't ran into very many bugs. game crashed and had some slow down 2 times but restarting the game fixed it. Had two quests bug out in weird ways but they had done it to a bunch of other players as well and solutions had already been found to complete the quest. So far have 30 I think of 59 achievements in the game without to much of an effort. I don't normally get a lot of the achievements and these have been pretty straight forward and have gotten them just from playing the game and doing the side quests. A lot of the side quests bring you to the relics, or the drones etc along the way.

Right? I get it that it's his job to complete stuff, but who in their right mind would blaze through a game this sumptuous? I'll never understand how some people can wait YEARS for a game to come out... then complete it in a weekend. Just... what a waste.

This game is the definition of a masterpiece. I cannot stop playing. I will finish every single possible objective and quest in this game, without a doubt. She's giving you hints as to what to do. It's honestly a fantastic QoL especially since she hints at what to do when you are on the map exploring (so that you don't miss unobvious things). Just last night I was running past a tree with an axe in it and if she didn't say something I never would have stopped to investigate. It's honestly one of my favourite parts of QoL in this sequel.

I mean not only is it a QoL addition but it's a character detail, Aloy didn't have anyone to talk to besides rost growing up and most kids who shared that experience also develop the habit of talking to themselves. Makes sense.

I loved this game, just finished it a couple of hours ago and now I can finally watch your review! And as someone who is from Utah (I love that Zions, Moab, Bryce, Lake Powell are in these games) as well who spent a couple of years in Netherlands and learned Dutch and grew to love the Dutch culture and people, I feel a weird sense of pride of how Guerrilla has made such an amazing IP starting with ZD, and now FW. That being said, Jirard, in case you were wondering how to pronounce Mattiijs De Jong, it’s closer to Muh-ty-ss De Yong. I’m not sure if that will make sense, or if someone can add better input into how to pronounce it, feel free to add your expertise. You’re amazing Jirard, keep up the great work!

One thing I'm not crazy about with the completionist is, it's clear he doesn't write his own scripts, and that makes it hard to know how much of the work he's actually doing. It's clear in many reviews when he mispronounces words in the scripts, words he'd know how to pronounce if he'd written them himself. Like in this review, there was the word "unenviable". but he pronounced it "un-en-VYE-able". I know he's got a team, but things like this make me feel Like I'm just getting other random opinions from unsung people, and not his personal views.

It's nice to see someone critique this game who has actually played it. A LOT of criticism I've heard just seems like it comes from people who haven't played it completely - that is, people who just blitzed the storyline rather than taking their time. Nice to hear from someone who did. As for the bugs... they haven't fixed them all yet, but they've ironed out quite a few, and done some really nice QOL changes too.

aloy wasn't really depowered; she still had all her super helpful mount skills from the frozen wilds dlc, silent strike, aiming from ropes and such. what she lost was her tricked out armor and weapons and the concession for her now having the overrides for the more familiar machines would be because these ones are manufactured at a different cauldron than the old ones, possibly even after hephaestus tweaked the code a bit post-frozen wilds. in fact, yeah, that IS directly mentioned as being one reason she needs new overrides. i'm just saying, there ARE good reasons and i'll take this over an actual mysterious depowering any day

I kinda want to see a sequel that takes place in a different part of the world. Its been cool to see what life in survived in the North American continent, like boars and raccoons would naturally survive, but I’d love to see how culture was rebuilt in a place like Japan or France, someplace with history that could be incorporated into the post robo apocalypse world. It doesn’t have to be some grand story about saving the world, just an interesting conflict that happens to have specialized robot animals rebuilding the environment.

Yeah I had my fair share of glitches. The most annoying ones for me were that when leaving the Dome at base the rest of the main room's floor just wouldn't load if I ran through the door fast enough (which I did always, cause I had run set to default) and I'd fall through the map. Also just some missions getting stupid if I didn't follow a trail to the end and just killed the machines at the landmark. I'd have to run off a ways before I realized the machines were dead and let me continue the mission
