Another issue I have encountered with these is the white wire harness that goes from the main board to the auxiliary board. The white sleeve and the wires inside are incredibly delicate. I remember replacing a main board and that harness because it got damaged god knows how during normal use. When I was re-seating the harness into the little slots I used the blunt end of a driver bit. Like one end goes into the drill and the other is a Philips head. I used the rounded part to push the harness and fold it into the little slots so the top cover could close. Somehow this damages both the sleeve and the wires inside. Had to get another harness. I have had to replace at least 3 brush roll motors that were less than 2 years old. Half the time the top motor cover doesn’t seat properly and is a 20 minute ordeal to cram everything out of the way so it fits. The brush light on the front likes to turn on when you so much as sneeze in its general direction on some units. The mainboard is always coated in what looks like carbon build up if you open it up after like a year. The simplicity version of this machine whatever they call it uses a slightly different sized fan for the brush motor so we have to stock both variants. Even though they both use the same motor. Finally the filters are two damn expensive. These machines and the big brother, the R40D are the poorest execution of a great idea I have ever seen.

These things are a nightmare. There is no reason a vacuum should have this much silicon.

I've had a Sebo Dart for the past three years, absolutely zero problems. Great machine. The owner of this machine made a wise choice to not fix it.

My R30D was a monster carpet cleaner… but an absolute nightmare if/when something goes wrong. Unlike most direct air machines that make accessing the d.a. motor easy… Riccar missed that memo. Heaven forbid someone accidentally suck up something they shouldn’t. No thanks. Got tired of dealing with “the diva” and sold it. Luckily only bought it for $300 second hand & sold it for $250… but I feel bad for the people who pay $1200+ only to learn the lesson.

This is why I didn't buy one of these. The self tapping screws which I knew would eventually get loose. Plus so many other questionable things. Happy still 3 years later with my Sebo X7

For the R30D.8: 30 is the series, D is deluxe, and 8 is the revision. :) Usually I get the 40 series in (S40’s and R40’s) with main PCB issues. The worst job to do on these in my opinion is changing the wiring harness… awful.

shoot i might want to check on mine upstairs. I like the vibrance so much more , i guess it might not deep clean as well but it's quiet and simple and almost lite .

I cannot count how many times ive had to do a fan change on the direct air motor. Accessing it and putting it all back together is really the bulk of the job. This isn't a vacuum, it's a computer that cleans carpeting

I remember Tacony fifteen years ago. They had the Vibrance line. Their 8000 series was the flagship line. It was a completely different brand back then. They actually once made good vacuums!! I got an 8955 that’s almost twenty years old and it works fine. These Tandem Air machines feel pretty damn sturdy, but they are too complicated with computers!!

Sebo, Sebo, Sebo!

Great carpet cleaners but always something wrong with them. Mine will work for awhile then never fails, a sensor will go out. Luckily I’m able to work on it and do the repairs.

Wow that is unacceptable for a $1199 vacuum. You can buy two Sebo Darts for less than one of these.

I’m really glad that they finally stopped making these machines. They and the old Panasonics that they were based on were ridiculously over complicated and yet they were still single motor uprights with a delicately built clutch break to stop the brush roll for bare floors. It’s as though they put computers in them just so that could charge more and for no functional benefit.

Why wasn’t this not under warranty at the other dealer they took it to? Did the customer buy second hand?

I came across your series around Riccar and how much you don't like their product but it looks like it was an older series. Would you be able to create a video going over why or why not you have or haven't changed your view of their new product line? Seems like every reviewer I come across except for you loves their current product line and I haven't seen you opinion on their current line.

Do you chose not to carry Riccar/TTI or are you on their blacklist?

It’s an issue with those PCB on Riccar? Well if it’s American made or not it’s not important (marketing is one thing but a profitable business it’s more important). So besides that it looks like process to manufacture those PCB comes with problems. I just open a couple of vacuum cleaners but a lot of routers and switches and many many different computers some of them minicomputers old ones. So I can ask: Why Riccar does not build a proper harness? This could help their machine. Also remembering the genius from Steve Wozniak why they don’t design a proper PCB? American design on PCB for computer was elegant and I think still is but this company could improve with better design. About the bags well that treat to Envirocare it’s not ok.

Perhaps Tacony is a brand to avoid these days?
