No chance the average bike shop cares to use a sonic cleaner, or even bothers to strip components for a proper wash. Dare I mention an entire array of lubricants and anti seize applied meticulously with needle point syringe? No chance!

@@emorhcelgoog Yes have tried lots of different types and measured the chain wear after 1000 miles and the best one so far has been cheap 3 in 1 oil. it's easy to clean off and re-apply, plus you don't need much, I put a drop on each roller, leave it for an hour or so then give a quick wipe to remove excess.

I have that same model of bike. God help you the day it needs new headset bearings! The brake hoses pass through the centre of the bearings so you have to open up the brake hydraulics to get the bearings off. Unfortunately, the hydraulic nut will not pass through the holes in the handlebars so you have to cut the olives off to remove the nuts. Whilst it's an aerodynamic joy to ride, it's a bike I only ride in the dry to minimise my chances of ever needing to replace the headset! It's also a bike for very smooth tarmac. It's unbelievably stiff and very punishing on rough surfaces. A bit like riding a steel girder!! But it's like a missile for top end speed.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzfaq.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Wear gloves and safety glasses with the grinder! Only takes a second to injure your hand or worse your eyes.

whats your experience with di2 from this generation? I had some people steering me away from used bikes with that groupset? Is this warranted?

There are always horror stories with anything. But we’ve personally not seen any problems with this generation in our shop so we couldn’t say🧡

We honestly don’t get many in. They’re not super popular in our area but when we get one in and have the slot to film it we’ll definitely bring it to the channel⚙️

If I would know a shop doing their job as great as you, I would actually give my bike to a service instead of doing everything on my own. But the prices the shops here ask for makes buying the tools cheaper and they dont do what you do. Last time i asked shops if they service pedeals also: take them apart, clean and relube them and den adjust the preload on the bearings. Nope, they sey no time for that only swap axles of pedals and for bearings in general they dont even have loose bearing balls to renew any bearings on any bike

It isn’t always. We usually say if it isn’t broken don’t fix it but we don’t want to be downloading new button mapping onto old button software🧡

Giant bikes have the worst saddles tyres and handlebars. Having ridden 2tcrs and 1 propel I always replace those first

Giant continues to produce a joke of an aero bike because the tcr is better anyway. And because Trek pays them to manufacture the Madone
