GIANT SQUID ATTACK! MARLIN RIPPED TO SHREDS

Filmed way back in the early days of the show, this clip still gets the heart racing whenever we see it. A 250lb striped marlin is torn to bits by an Architeuthis, better known as the legendary Giant Squid. Makes you think twice about going for a swim at night!

There's nothing fake and/or gay about this, we even had one of the world's top Giant Squid experts verify the bite marks as belonging to an Architeuthis.

This was in the pacific, correct? How close were you to shore? Humboldt Squid have been showing up in large numbers off the coast of California in recent years. They are quite ravenous when hungry, and they often attack in groups. They have often been called "Giant Squid", as they can be up to 6 feet in length, and there are unconfirmed reports of them reaching 12 feet. They'll attack almost anything, including each other. I believe the Humboldt Squid is a more likely culprit. While the Giant Squid is certainly a vicious and active hunter, they usually don't hunt near the surface, as far as we know.

I remember this one back in the day, the fish was hooked and fought in a little over 100 feet down, that isn't very deep. Also The fish itself was sent to researchers who took a preserved giant squid beak to the bite marks of the fish, it was a perfect match.

With less than 5% of our oceans explored how can you guys say it wasn't a giant squid... Seems to be evidence to suggest it quiet possibly was, this guy is no amature fisherman guys

Wow the comments on here lol. Fishing into the night a time when Squid do come up from the deep to me this is pretty obviously the work of a giant squid a creature so elusive but not uncommon and it’s only predator the Sperm Whale.

Who just said they thought Giant Squid went extinct 50 years ago? I'd reply to your comment, but I don't know how to do that in this new format on KZfaq. Whoever you are, you don't seem to know much. You don't get out much, do you? Giant Squid never went extinct. One was filmed last summer in its natural habitat for the first time. Where would you get the idea that they were extinct?

the marlin getting ripped to pieces would have been fine compared to a more unluckier captain in 2003, when Geronimo, a racing yacht got rocked by something underwater and when the captain ordered his boatmate to inspect the damage he saw a 10m long animal stuck to the yacht with tentacles longer than a person, thicker than his legs and with suckers as big as his hand. it was a giant squid. luckily he and his crew got away but with the boat damaged.

When Sperm whales were harpooned and brought ashore they sometimes had the big round sucker marks around their head from the giant squid and beak bites. Occasionally a squid was still in the whales stomach.

Actually you don't have any idea what it was, it is just an speculation! Even if an expert told you that!

Mauro CN 1. it's a big fish with squid bites and sucker marks on it half eaten 2. sharks don't eat marlin like that 3. use your commen sense and see the evidence that this is a giant squid that did this

Why the two videos I watched on your channel is about Marlin getting killed? what a waste.. should have let the Marlin go when you had the chance.. or better yet stop fishing Marlin. Overfishing by fisherman is one thing, but it seems you are indirectly contributing to that...

First of All, all but the lowest people release their Marlin. So over fishing is not at all a problem. and the fact that a giant squid decided to go after one is completely out of the crews hands to stop. Let the Marlin go while you had the chance? What the hell are you talking about. they were probably tagging, and if not you at least want to take the hook out. At least have some knowledge of fishing and Marlin before putting up stupid ass comments.

In this video, a squid killed the marlin not him. He usually always releases his marlin. Only two videos that have marlin dead. And he doesn't waste the dead fish. He eats it and gives it to other People to eat
