​@@tomjeffersonwasright2288 You can say something like that about any Dog. Pit-bulls, for example, are only so "agressive" because most of the owners do not train/teach them properly. My Boyfriend has a Pit-bull and he's the nicest Pitty I know of. Every Dog can be a killing machine or at least have the mind of one. Many owners mean what they say when they say that their dog wouldn't hurt a fly. But that also means that they trained the dog properly and taught them proper manners or that the dog was already properly trained / taught. You have seen Videos of those very aggressive Chihuahuas? The fact that they're so aggressive shows that they have never been properly trained.

Neighbor had one a half wolf, half mastiff. Looked like a full blood wolf. Ripped my head open and gave me a killer nike scar on my head.

This deff could of happened. Feeding wild animals in general you gain their trust. Hell even a skittish squirrel will eventually come to you if you put food out and you make it known its you ffs get close to nature

You nailed it, A Wolf///Wolfdog is not so much of a pet but a companion...Another earthly being you work toward soliciting their cooperation with rather than training them as a pet. This is due to their Superior Intelligence and ability to calculate as well as a much higher level of mental Maturity than any domestic dog achieves. For example: An Adult domestic dogs mental maturity is about equal to a Wolf Pup 6 months old. It's been said an Adult Wolf is more like a 35 year old Human in this aspect. This is what I like about mine. It's less like having a kid you gotta play with and more like having a patient companion you can work with. At the same time, if you throw blows at your best friend he will deck you back just as good. Do the same with a Wolf and they will let you know they are not to be messed with. In other words, they demand respect and don't like to be treated like a child. Doggies love to be treated like a child on the other hand.

It's better than freaking out which would upset the animal who is wild, it makes him feel comfortable because it's understood he's playing not trying to hurt her.

Licking the face/muzzle is a greeting and sign of acceptance/submission/respect. I wouldn't be so rude as to react badly to any canid doing that. It requires trust to let their teeth be in your face, but they'll trust you back. Same with exchanging breath with a horse.

Gloria Lewis the problem is that there are not a lot of people out there who could properly care for them. they still have wild in them, and they need to be treated like such.

Yeah when I grow up cuz I’m 14 rn I want to work in a wolf sanctuary after im done with college and learn about them before actually buying a high content wolfdog as a pet

I got a "mixed Samoyed" that turned out to be what I think was a full arctic wolf. He was a beautiful animal but NOTHING like a dog. I thought I could handle any animal until I got Shiloh. They look very similar to a dog but the difference is a dog is like a child you take care of, a wolf, that's like having a roommate. They are much more like adults than a dog is. Dogs stay in a sort of eternal childhood of playfulness and happiness, wolves don't. He wasn't a bad animal, never was violent, but he did whatever he wanted to do and once he had his mind set on getting outside, or doing anything, he'd work ceaselessly on accomplishing that goal. People that think they want to have a wolf have no clue what they are getting into. Fine, if you life in a remote area with 200 acres of land, you might want to attempt it, but only then. I'd strongly recommend against getting a wolf for those that thinking about it. Again they aren't bad animals, but they are nothing like dogs. If you want a very aloof, not very affectionate animal that won't respond to dog training and does whatever it wants to do and will never just be an animal that is happy to see you and wants to play all the time, you might want to try. It's more like an equal than a kid. The wolf never saw me as an authority figure or even a buddy. I was the guy taking care of him and feeding him.

@@fuzzywzhe Training a wolf is very doable... but its different than training something like a golden retriever. Most regular dogs want very much to please their person, wolves not so much. They will happily work for a reward, or if its made into a game, but they don't care as much about pleasing us.

@@matthewayres6275 If you are really interested in getting one, I'd recommend going to volunteer at a zoo or wild animal rescue so that you can get used to working with and training wild animals. Working with a wolf is not like working with a regular dog.

@@timeshark8727 I'm certain it's possible to train just about any animal. I'm just pointing out a wolf is not a dog. The wolf I had, I never felt any affection from. He wasn't a bad animal, he enjoyed being pet, but I never felt he considered me a friend or a buddy. It was cold. I took care of him, but I don't think he really developed any affection for me or even realized he had any dependence on me. I want to be clear I never had any animosity toward him, and I don't think he did with me, but he didn't appear to have any affection for me. Just something I won't do again. I should have taken him straight to a wolf sanctuary instead of adopting him out. People I think have a romantic idea of what it's like to have a wolf. They are expecting some amazing dog, it's NOT a dog. It's an animal you feed and home. He taught me the difference between domesticated and wild. Domestic animals are bred through multiple generations, wolves, they are not. There is certainly a genetic component in domesticated animals, and when you have a wild animal, it's quite apparent. It's like feeding birds in the winter. They are happy they are fed, but they never recognize you as a caregiver.

No, I wouldn’t be able to handle it but there are some BEAUTIFUL breeds that look like wolves that actually have no wolf blood, and are very sweet from what I’ve heard. I would love to own one :)

@@beige6003 I don't own a malamute- I have a husky instead- but we have met loads of malamutes because our husky tends to get on better with breeds similar to her and they've always been lovely so I don't know if it's a similar sort of situation with a lot of malamutes where they get on better with breeds similar to their own or what but I wouldn't say they're unfriendly to other dogs at all myself

@@beige6003 yes they can be, but you should just be prepared to keep them on their own or atleast around dogs they like.

yes you have to be very experienced and have the right facilities. You also have to research bloodlines very carefully or yes you could get a random mix of wolf and dog traits. The more multi generational animals are more consistent in personality

You can see how aggressive the dog can be throughout the video. It's almost like it has a split personality disorder. It acts like a normal dog then all of a sudden you see it chomping its teeth towards the host, biting her hair, etc. This is not a breed anyone should have around children. It looks highly unpredictable.

@@jimbrown341 its how they communicate. They use their mouth alot more than most other dogs. All depends on the individual hybrid but ours are unique and its very predictable once you get used to them.

Yeah I Know they do. the main thing that made me think that was the Flinching, as I would approach Him he would often Flinch and Fearfully coward down you could see Fear in his Eyes and One time he rolled over and Peed.. any how what ever the Reason was it is in the Passed now he does not do this any More he is always Happy and never Fearful..

The Mal I had loved to escape and would take every opportunity to eat other animals when she could. My baby lasted for thirteen years. I want another but now I can’t chase them. I do miss their talking. It took two years to housebreak the stubborn baby. Good luck.

We have a Mal and two mid content wolf dogs and they were eaiser to train than a black lab.

Bob Silver Had huskies all my life. Each are individuals, and vary greaty in personality, as do most breeds. Most are very independent, and as sled dogs inherently think and decusion make on their own. They are the Houdini's (escape artsts) of the dog world, snd great runners, in general.

Sloth good point, except what do you class a “specialist”? Plenty of regulars dog owners could do this and plenty of dog trainers could not 🤷‍♀️ key work is could not everyone but it does spark the question.

A muzzle is not a sign of warning about a dog, it's a sign of a responsible owner. You may not know why (out of many valid reasons) an owner has muzzled the dog. The owner, however, does know. I know someone who muzzles her dog because it picks up stones and eats them, and the vets bills were getting crazy. Just one example you might not have thought of.

I can´t understand this "muzzle fear". In Czech republic it is mandatory to have muzzled dog if you want to unleash it on public places. As well as for all public travels. I have a Czechoslovakian "wolfdog" and i use a muzzle on a daily basis. She would never bite a human.

Most people can't own a Chihuahua without turning it into a terror, absolutely agree with you.

Some dogs actually cant eat raw diet because of their health or some dogs prefer kibble even after giving them meat of wet food. Pepper (my dog in my photo) had wet food and really wasnt taking a liking to it, we tried all sorts of different brands and. We found out peppers a little bit of a fussy eater when it comes to her food, but will eat any of ours 😂😂😌 However she eats a lot of chicken because thats her fav food however i totally get where you're coming from! Some people just buy kibble for the sake if it being easy and throw it in a bowl and just dont care and only give their dog short walks, sometimes only once a day. I dont understand those type of people! Why even have a dog!

i think people should foster an untrained cattle dog for a week. do that. a dog like that is a high energy dog - one that needs several hours of exercise a day. and a wolf can run 25-30 miles a day and will probably require exercise like that. plus the fact that a wolf is not a dog - it won't have the same personality as a dog you get from the shelter - it won't be your average pet in so many negative ways

Most kibble has things your dog doesn't need (preservatives). Most kibble has carbohydrates which your dog cannot metabolize. I only feed my dogs raw, boney chicken.

Lol i have a high content wolfdog and he follows me everywhere. In fact he is more interested in being around me than my other dogs that are "domestic" he also is way more well behaved. Maybe live with one before ya open ya gob mate.

Dixie Shuffler, sorry for your loss. The feeling is mutual, my mid-content Mackenzie wolf/Sib husky died from seizures one day about two months ago. Best friend I ever had. He too killed a large guard dog, a meighbors Boerboel who happened to make it to be back lot to get a drink of water. Looking to get another one this march.💯👍
