When I read the mosaic of Ghilan'nain in the temple of Mythal, the first thing I thought of was how I'd love a prequel to take place in ancient times, when these people ruled. That would be amazing. But I digress. When I first read her codex in Origins, I was like meh, mother of halla? That's worse than being Mnemosyne, the titaness of memory and then I swiftly dismissed her. Depite her statue being headless in the Dalish camp. In hindsight, I wonder how I could have missed its significance. Oh well. Between Ghilan'nain, Andruil and the others, I think we just might have villians that make Coryphyspit look as harmless as a nug on its back.

"...begin to fail" tells me that there was some power conveyed along with the slave markings, and that once access to the Gods those markings represent was cut off, the fall or failure was more gradual and less abrupt than what I thought it might have been. Very interesting!

girltriesgames Definitely Ghilan'nain played a big role in all these events. I have the idea about the pictures in Skyhold, where she is depicted with the bear. I think that she had made a deal with the gods of Avaar in order to wage war on Mythal to avenge her lover, Andruil. Plus these strange pictures of a deer&something in the temple of Mythal (painted in different style) could be another illustration of that even. Funny thing that for my white haired inquisitor, who romanced Solas, I used Ghilan'nain as an inspiration. :)

I think the Forgotten Ones are probably more significant than people give them credit for. Plus, from purely a writing perspective, how great and tragic would it be for Fen’Harel to be a champion of the people and freer of slaves during his own time, along with the Forgotten Ones, only to awake to find his people are not only a broken shadow of what they once were, but continue to worship the Evanuris as gods while condemning Fen’Harel and not even bothering to remember the others who fought with him? So wonderfully tragic and heartbreaking, I hope they go this kind of route. Whether you personally like Solas or not, I just want him to be a villain so sympathetic he’s practically a hero, it would make for such a great story. I think you also mentioned in another video Solas says something about how awful it is for people to “squander your sacrifices” or something like that so fingers crossed 🤞

This is great! I still have to play Jaws but I am so pumped! Man I love this universe. I remember my fanatical Qun phase I had back in DA2 and now its ll about Elves. I really wonder how the Dwarves tie in to the elven civil war. maybe Cadash supported the slaves?

I can't remember if you mentioned this in other video's but I replayed the Temple of Mythal again and noticed something about the Ghilan'nain codex at her mosaic. I could be entirely off base and this is probably something pointed out by fans already. I'm wondering why some words of the quest title "What Pride had Wrought" are in the Ghilan'nain codex, in the same sentence. "On the second day she drowned the giants of the sea, except those in deep waters, for they were too well-wrought, and Pride stopped her hand." Maybe they are hinting throughout the game that she will be important in the future. With JOH it is super obvious that she is a big deal though. Sorry if this was already noted and I missed it.

In the DLC I think the most important discovery is the "gods" are powerful spirits who posses mortals Dragons for the Avvar and Tevinter, perhaps "dreamers" for the elven pantheon. The story of the Halla goddess supports this as she was chosen, by deeds, to ascend to god hood. We learn from Solas that powerful spirits never really die, even if destroyed. If they exist in the memory of others (mortal or spirit) they are alive, but essentially "forgotten". The Relm of the Fade reflects the dreams of mortals. Many mortals dream of a golden city, a heaven like place, but when Tevinter actually went there their greed, avarice, and violence corrupted that dream, and the corruption of that dream spread to all through the "blight". In DA: O the brood mother theory hurlocks are corrupted humans, dwarves/genlocks, elves shrieks, ogres/Quanari. The old gods, the darkspawn seek out are normal until they come in contact with corruption and are tainted. The taint/corruption of man has caused the golden city to turn black, lyrium, the essence of magic has been corrupted red, mortals are corrupted into darkspawn, the world itself is being torn apart. Sounds like DA:4 to me?

Solas doesn't see the dalish as his people. I think it makes sense since he is vilified in their tales, even though it seems like he rebelled for their sake. He probably also feels guilty for the quickening. I wonder if he plans to free the gods, maybe releasing the origin of the blight at the same time. I can barely wait to see where the devs take this. So many questions..

Hi there! I really love your DA analysis, sadly, I found it too late XD You did a great job summerizing all the facts! I wish I could chat with you actually, but here I'd like to share some thoughts (sorry, I am a slowpoke). The first thought that occured to me while watching the vid and playing DA and reading some books - probably in the times of ancient elves 'elvhen' was not the word to note the race but more ...errr...place of reside? I mean, it looks like then both elves and humans and whoever else coexisted in one homeland (maybe I'm wrong, but as far as I remember Felassan from The Masked Empire didn't say "there existed no humans or dwarves, but elves", as far as I recall he said "There were no humans, dwarves, elves. There were elvhen"(I can be mistaken for I read the book a while ago, but his words actually cought my attention". Also, his words about slaves back in Arlathan. He didn't said it directly, but from his question to Briala it is clear that there were actually slaves. So far that's all I wanted to say, please answer if you are interested. Perhaps I'm wrong or it was already discussed on some forums, dunno :)

One more thing.. So i just read this crazy DA-theory online, and I would love someone (GTG?) to take a closer look at it. Basically it's about the first time we meet Flemeth with Kieran (if Morrigan had the old god-baby) in the Fade. We can find a/the claw of Dumat among other things, and we don't really see other landmasses in the sky. The question is then: Is this The Black City? Have we walked straight in and out of it without knowing? Would love to hear if there is coming any vids out about it, or if it's debunked.
