I saw a couple brief comments on this but wanted to elaborate because I know you two are always open to learning. It is a very common problem for women to have incontinence (and pain etc.) during sex after pregnancy and childbirth. Those events do a number on the human body, including yanking your bladder around and putting it in places it shouldn't be. So although I agree the way Bethany talked about it was ~** icky **~ it is a huge problem among American women especially (who aren't taught about this nor given any pelvic floor therapy post-birth to avoid it). There's a huge shame and stigma around the topic, which unfortunately is contributed to by making light of it or being vocally grossed out by it. But as two individuals who haven't had kids, it makes sense that you wouldn't know that! And to your overall point, anyone who does struggle with it should not touch Bethany's media with a ten-foot pole, but rather talk to their gynecologist about pelvic organ prolapse and getting into pelvic floor physical therapy.

I grew up atheist and have never identified with any religion, but I did grow up in an abusive home (a large component of that emotional and psychological abuse). Then in my late teens years entered a similarly emotionally cruel/abusive relationship for many years. I have spent the last few years distancing myself and learning, growing and healing my nervous system so much, but I find myself so reluctant sometimes to all information and people because I'm so paranoid about having my mental state kidnapped. I'm so scared of slipping into situations that may be horrible for me and not realize it for years. I align with you all so much on your world and spiritual view of people and the wisdom you've gained, and I even realize we read all the same sorts of books and listen to similar podcasts etc, so I feel you'd be the best people to give me some advice. tbh, I think her saying these things is really good and not embarrassing and i'm okay with it coming from any platform. I'm not Christian, i'm not inexperienced but I do have a lot of anxiety and that can make these things super difficult to deal with during sex, esp with someone new. And since we have studies that show how many women struggle with orgasming during sex (often because of anxiety and fear of letting go), idk I'd imagine women from that background struggle much more than a heathen like me does.
