Glacier National Park is one of our favorites because it was one of the FIRST national parks we explored when we were students at the University of Montana. Also -- this is one of the first of more than 150 episodes we produced over the last 10 years. Looking back at our younger selves -- we’re astonished at how much we still had to learn about the wilderness but are also a bit nostalgic for the thrill of seeing aspects of nature for the very first time.
Our backpacking adventure in Glacier National Park better familiarized us with the wild and wonderful world of bears. Trust us when we say that they can be surprisingly comical when scratching their backs! We discovered how many other creatures inhabit the park and how adaptive they are; if only we could scale a mountain as easily as the goats do! We also learned how to survive in the wild over several days and navigate all the hurdles that mother nature threw our way. It’s one thing to climb more than ten miles and thousands of feet up to the top of the continental divide; it’s quite another to avoid being blown off! Ultimately, Glacier National Park taught us that nature has the power to transform lives. Its breathtaking vistas and awe-inspiring landscapes reminded us of our small place in this vast world and how important it is to spend time in nature and preserve it.

Pretty cool stuff. That's a hike that I'd be interested in doing at some point. Gunsight Pass was my favorite memory from there and my dad's favorite national park. On a technical note, I'm surprised that bagging and hanging is still allowed. I've heard that many national parks are now requiring canisters as opposed to hanging. Don't get me wrong, you still need to be careful with location, but hanging often requires perfect trees and branches to properly hang, otherwise it's just a pinata for the bear, or it simply doesn't work.... Especially in the alpine.

I believe they had a pole for hanging out food here but you’re right, it’s better to use a canister 👍🏽
