I remember that area! I grew up there and remember those tracks as I go to that local Costco. That wreck happened months after my family and I moved out of state. My mom and I went literally pale in the faces when we saw the wreck in the news.

I still remember that exact day. I was in the 7th grade and in Roosevelt Middle School. I remember it was raining that morning, while I was going to my second period class which was around 9 am. I could see all the helicopters hovering. Also on that second metrolink crash of 2008 my school's consular passed away in that crash. Unfortunately I forgot his name.

Geez I thought the Glendale train derailment was just a collision between a metrolink and UP train, but I never knew of a second metrolink train involved in this wreck

So Metrolink were meeting the other Metrolink right next by the freight train boys but 623 hits the cab car in the in derails and a small fire exist from nowhere

He is the stupidest person to kill 11 people to park his Jeep Cherokee on the railroad tracks and cause the trains to crash all because of killing himself. I am glad he is found guilty.

You actually got the Cab Cars mixed up. 625 was paired with 883 (or wasn't it actually 886?), and 623 was paired with 873. Here is a list of the entire Metrolink consists and all the units' fates: 1992-built Cab Car 625 - Scrapped 1992-built Coach 133 - Scrapped 2002-built Coach 197 - Repaired, still in service as of this day 1995-built F59PHI 883 - Returned to service, retired in 2019 following HEP Failure. Awaiting fate in deadline 1993-built F59PH 873 - Returned to service, later converted into F59PHR, meaning it continues operating into 2020 1997-built Coach 177 - Repaired, continued operating until retired in 2015. Now in service with Caltrain. 1992-built Coach 148 - Scrapped 1992-built Cab Car 623 - Damaged Beyond Repair, Remains were donated to the Los Angeles Fire Department, and transferred to Station 88, where it was used as a training ground for new recruits. They would have to go inside 623 and find dummies. Sadly, it was eventually scrapped in early 2019 because it attracted spiders and took up too much space.

The Metrolink F59PHI involved in that wreck was actually 886.

Lots of rail disasters for metrolink back then they were supposed to change there procedure by making the engine the lead car to prevent any disatsters like this, not sure if they ever figured out a way of doing this by either running two engines front and back or making a runaround track at the end of there route.
