One thing I understood by watching these videos is that the more you know and understand endgames and how to play them the better you become at chess. It is surprising when he says, "I'm better/lost", "this is a winnig/losing position". Very instructive. GO BEN!

Who else is on a finegold binge watching all these playlists. Rawr. He has the best subtle humor of dad jokes and the phrases are catchy like "the best move is a resign", " I would cry if I played against me too", "never put a pawn on F3" , "that's suspicious" . "Etc etc etc and my opponent lost material and is a losing position but who would of guessed it" amazing commentary along with grandmaster mental prowess. I'm only 1800 rated and getting more experience with pinning, forking, double checks, and protecting pieces. Watching these videos also help improve my middle to end game because anyone can have a good opener but you'll get countered later on when time is running low and you don't spot square advantages. I love how intellectual this game is and the predictive move setting, controlling where you want your opponent to go if you're steps ahead. Out of 20 moves you can make I always know the best 5 moves but at finegold's level you get it down to 2 and you just pick whatever one feels fun at the time for a game plan or an outcome that gives mate faster. :)

Love your commentary! Also the reason FrankTan didn't recapture right away is because his connection was lost. When the circle next to your opponent's name is green it means they're online and when it turns grey it means they've lost connection to the server. Good way to tell if people are afk when you start a new game as well

I don't really mind if I hear the sounds of the pieces or not, but surely if you now have a good mic, you don't need the headphones, and then we'd hear the pieces and also your voice. Mainly your voice. Raaawr.

When you create a challenge you can determine the colors or make it random.

Ben, this is actually the setup GingerGM gives in his video on the London system. move for move played by white. the problem is that setup doesn't obviously work if the bishop is fianchettoed.

Looks like a RODE-NT1A microphone. Am I right? As for the sounds thing, I assume you're using OBS. It should be fairly easy to make it so you can hear it both in the video and yourself as it's a software a lot of people use for recording gameplay of video games. Can understand if you don't want to invest the time though, for chess it is a bit asinine and not really necessary really.
