Welcome to the calisthenics programming series. If you've ever wanted to learn planche, front lever, handstand pushups etc. but you struggle to structure your training, these videos are for you. From setting the right goals, discussing volume, intensity, frequency, to choosing a right training split, progression and periodisation for bodyweight training - all gonna get covered.
The series contains 6 episodes (altough not certain about this number yet) with the element of continuum - each part covers certain topic and is an introduction to the next episode. At the very end of the series Im going to do a walkthrough of the full process of me making example program - focused on bodyweight goals. On top of that the PDF file of that program gonna be attached to the description so everyone can download it and do whatever he wants with that. From that point I would really like to say thank you to all the people who are consistently helping me to make the series - by correcting and giving advice on certain topics. Im gonna give a credit to them in videos and will link their instagram profiles in the descriptions.
Today we gonna cover the very first step - goal setting. While it might sound trivial and obvious it is the most important step. To even begin talking about all the variables, progressions, exercise selection - you gotta know what you want to achieve with your training. This video is gonna help you choose the right number of properly formulated goals that work well together and don't interfere with each other too much. I will also explain the difference between most general goals in calisthenics - Appearance and Performance - and how training for those two differs for bodyweight athletes. Enjoy ;)

Good point on iron cross training. This what I found to be true as well, the best to way to train it, is to not train it... By that i mean train it indirectly, not directly. I'm currently training for FL and PL, and I do wide ring support once a week to strengthen my straight arm strength, I'm not doing it with the intention of eventually getting the cross, but just as a conditioner for planche. Just a different way to think about it. But really almost any shoulder/elbow/bicep/lat related work will help you in cross, so in a way you're training for it in almost every workout...
@FrinksmovementTV
@FrinksmovementTV 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Totally the point here. But thats why this stuff gets so tricky sometimes
@vexedev
@vexedev 4 жыл бұрын
@@FrinksmovementTV Yeah its counter intuitive. But eventually with this approach, once the cross is next on the list you'll have so much tendon power and elbow conditioning from previous skills that it won't take you that much time to nail it down.

Actually my main goals at the moment are front lever and planche. For example i can't focus on both at the same time. During one training session it is impossible for me to do specific sets for both these elements because front lever sets are putting a lot of pressure on my upper back while front lever raises or advanced FL tuck hold. So when it comes to planche my upper back is killing me and i can't even do tucked planche push ups beacuse of tired shoulders and upper back.

Bro why is goal setting so hard??? I want hypertrophy, but there are many ways to achieve it, so idk if I focus my program on tuck planche push ups, one arm push ups or weighted push up and my pull training on fl rows, weighted pull ups, one arm pull ups, or muscle ups.

Hi dude! I really appreciate this series, thank you very much! Now, I have a question... what happend with my skill after I achieved? For example, I set my goal to be X skill, let's say OA Pull Up. I get it. After, I train for Z skill, like Planche. I get it. After, I train for Y skill, frontlever. And then, I want to go for W skill, I'm still capable of doing X Z and Y skills?
@FrinksmovementTV
@FrinksmovementTV 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Pablo, thank you for your message. Next instalments of series will come. Regarding your question, you can put it on maintain mode and train it once a week with a little volume of let's say 2 sets. It is much easier to maintain skill than to get it.

@@FrinksmovementTV Wooow, that question was in my mind for long and no one answer it before, thank you so much! I'm also impress that you even answer me, but not only that, the answer was pretty fast :O amazing! Could I leave you another question? If my goal is to catch'em all (like pokemon), to achieve all the skills (at least the most popular and regulars), is there an order to make it easier, or it's the same which one I start to get first? I want all: front and back levers, OAP (all variations), OA push up, planche, HSPU (free-no wall), v-sit Is there an order to get them one by one that is better? Or doesn't matter the order? Could I train for all of them at the same time? is it possible? I'm thinking to be able to do them in long time, like in 5 years... is that a realistic time? Anyways, if you could not answer anymore, I understand it... again, thank you so much! Salutations from Argentina Pablo B
@FrinksmovementTV
@FrinksmovementTV 2 жыл бұрын
Your basically asking about the goals order So, a long answer: I will have that all in future series and most likely courses as well. Short answer for you now: - The order matters, but not as strictly as some resources lay it down. I would say, for example in case of pull: master pull ups, before going to one arm pull up and front lever training (have a pull up with 30-50% BW). Then learn those skills before going to front lever row/victorian or any very difficult skill - For push, first master push ups, dips before handstand. Then master handstand, then you can start working on handstand push ups and planche. And after that on all the crazy skills - After mastering "basics" in push and pull you can also start working on all the other upper body skills. Like L-sit v-sit etc. Hope it helps. In terms of time - I have absolutely no answer in this regard unfortunately, as too many things will play a role in determining how long it will take. My practical advice would be - not to focus on that, just focus on your next upcoming goals while having the general picture of your long term vision.
