I love these sanding sponges, they have been my go to for over a year now. I've only really had to replace the 400-800 grit range once this whole time. The 2k-10k still going strong and I use those on every kit as balancers. I start with a nano glass file on my nubs till they are flat, as It really reduces the amount of stress to the plastic. Then I start in with these and I can get completely rid of nub marks, absolutely no outline left.

I started off using the Tamiya ones, then went to Godhand, and now only use the 3m pads. Just cut them into small pieces and save money.

are there really no significant difference between those brand? i was bout to buy some but realize i still had my 3ms... maybe i need a metal file or something that cut nubs well, then sand down the rest using sponges. so no need even for sanding stick (flat)

It's been a while since you commented but do you have an amazon link to the highest grit ones we could use? There's just soo many 3M pads, I don't know which ones to get since they are labeled differently

What is the last grit I should use before priming to ensure the primer will adhere well?

800-1500 grit is a good medium before applying surfacer, it should leave your piece at a decent smoothness

I'm surprised that there's some of that piece left after that much sanding. MGs are really not forgiving as such when it comes to sanding as they lose a lot of detail.

Is there a way to maintain these like running some water over them after finishing?

Yeah you can. The sanding part is actually made of cloth so you can use them with water and the sandpaper won't deteriorate nor peel off the sponge. It's a good way to prevent clogging.

For nub clean up what is a good grit for sanding sticks? I only have 120 240 and 3000
@placross

start with the lowest to the highest you've got. However, 120 might be to coarse for plastic surface. Test it on the runer first. If there are too many scratches use higher grit instead.

I'd recommend using a harder material, such as metal files or sandpaper with a hard backing board. Sponge will bend and you won't be able to target the nub without also sanding away some of the surrounding. You could use the 10mm thick ones since they're a bit stiffer, but a hard-backed file or sanding stick is definitely better.

Can they be reused after wet sanding?
@legendofnoob
@legendofnoob 10 ай бұрын
Definitely. The glue is water resistant. Also the sandpaper is made with cloth material so you can bend them, twist them, wet them and they'll still stay in tact.

Huh, I just bought set of papers for wet sanding at 600-2000 range. Are sponges better or have another use?

Theure usually more for curved surfaces and you also get less hand fatigue by using sponges, ive also found that surfaces are a little more even since there's another layer between the surface and your hand

I'm planning to buy the godhand sponges for building an MG kit, but I only found that comes in 4000-10.000 grits. are those fine to use for nub clean ups or should i search for ones in 400-1000 grits instead?
