Someone had to have put the pike in there when it was small, since there are no inlets. They planned for the pike to remain captive in the enclosed pond and feast on the trout which had been stocked there. They then proceeded to monitor the pike as it grew. Definitions: 'Farm'-"land or water devoted to the raising of animals, fish, plants, etc." 'Farmed(v.tr.)'-"To *cultivate, breed, or raise (plants or animals)." 'Wild'-(of an animal): "Living in nature without human control or care : not tame." While this fish might technically be 'farmed,' it sure doesn't seem to take away from the guys joy of pulling in this monster- and isn't that what fishing is all about?

As for me I'm finished with here. So I'm going to Russia and I'll be hunting down a world record. I mean. Come on lads. Britain leads the way in angling and I'm sure my angling skills will come out on top A perch in the Thames took my roach and we estimated it at about 12lb at least. I'd seen nothing like it: Deep olive and British racing green, all mottled like! It wasn't hooked and let go after 30 secs or so! Then there was a chub I saw at the mouth of The Colne (London). My friend (who worked in a tackle shop), said it was a grass carp. 5 ft long. I estimated 11lb. These two fish have been on my mind ever since! Then there was a carp that we (me and Stroudy/ the dude who works on armoured army vehicles with his bomb shields), saw at Wraysbury II. That too was 5tf long and had never been caught! We've had roach out of the Thames beating the Thames record. I'm had to give up fishing because I'm not allowed ro admit The Envy-euro-ment Agency. Except if I have time expect to hear about River Clyde record cod catches or conger eels pretty soon! Tails up!

I think this should not considered anywhere mere a record for two reasons first it's a privately owned lake or "pond" that is only seven acres and it sounds like there is only one northern pike in it. So they stock it with trout to feed the only northern pike and let it grow to that size. Even if it breaks the weight record for the country or world it should never be allowed in the record books.

Caught a 52" pike a few years ago at Castle Loch. It weighed 21.5Lbs but the scissors on it's leftside were mutilated into what I can only describe as a small ping pong ball. The left side of its mouth couldn't open because of this. Often wondered what it must have weighed when healthy. Smashin catch mucker.

A few years ago a guy in Alaska cought a monster salmon, fought it for a few hours. Got it in, handed the rod to his buddy so he could pick the fish up out of the water and was disqualified because of this.

I’ve been raising one in my pond for 20 years . Feed him pellets daily and he’s no natural predators. I figure I’ll catch him again next year and the year after until he beats the state record. Then sInwill blubber after I consider the money I spent on him instead of real fishing trips.

Why all the negative comments? As for over handling, they unhooked it, weighed it, photographed it and released it . All standard stuff. Are they saying you shouldn’t photo your monster fish?

Pretty much all my pikes have been hammer handles. Found a spot on a creek where the water had gone down so low that there was this one pool that was filled with pike, they couldn't get out. All hammer handles. Every time you cast you caught one and they were fun to catch. Caught about a dozen of them and yes thru them all back. The name of the creek was Pickerel Creek and it lived up to its name.

Nice fish but that isn't fishing. That's like going deer hunting for deer that's in a 3 acer pen that eats grass everyday then you come on your big trophy deer hunt for a buck of a lifetime and you put a few buckets of apples at the bottom of your stand and all of a sudden wow !!!! The biggest buck you ever seen is right there eating your apples for a five yard shot. What a sportsman
@davidoakley32566 жыл бұрын
Scott Hall yeah, but if you put a hook in the apple and reeled that buck in, took some photos holding him up, then let him go. It would be fairly impressive.

Very, very few pike anglers in the UK would ever kill a fish of this calibre. It is great to see it returned alive.
@DiabloOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
LOL, They killed him. Haven't you seen all the blood? And a pike would start fighting as soon as he feels the water and he was almost motionless. And how come we don't see him going away??? The truth is that he died. They didn't handle him properly and kept him out of the water for way too long.
@ryansheppard5048 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily true. We caught a 39 pound trout ice fishing last year, had it out of the water for a total of 35 seconds and it took a while for it to regain energy. A fish that big doesn’t necessarily just up and go as soon as they’re back in the water.
@DiabloOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@ryansheppard5048 Look, I'm Canadian and have been fishing pikes since my early days. I don't know everything about fishing because there's always something to learn. Now, you clearly stated *ice fishing*. Have you ever heard about "thermal shock"? You took a living creature from 4 degrees Celsius (40F), to minus ten (14F) if not way less. How would YOU feel if you were the pike? That pike in the video most certainly died (99%). As simple as that.
@ryansheppard5048 Жыл бұрын
Im Canadian as well, and when you’re dealing with old, big fish they take a while to get their “legs” back. They’ll usually stay in one spot to regain themselves. A 30 pound fish, especially after a long, hard fight won’t just instantly jolt away when put back in the water. 5 pound, young pike? Sure.
@DiabloOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@ryansheppard5048 You just proved that you're what we call a "Sunday fisherman" and not a fishing guide... Thanks, and end of discussion.
