It's funny hearing someone say "in Europe... this and that is like this"! It's wildly different in every country you visit in Europe. It's not like going to another state in America, it's completely different!

US regulates the oil that can be used in cooking. It started in the mid 90's when they banned coconut oil from being used in Movie Theater popcorn. Later, they went after fast food fry oil. Hence, why much of it tastes like corn or worse. PS: Food companies changing from sugar to high fructose corn syrup has also ruined many sweets here.
@brendakell4304
@brendakell4304 10 ай бұрын
Agreed! The corn industry is heavily subsidized in the U.S. This makes corn and corn products (syrup, oil) very cheap. It becomes a cheap but tasty filler to put in food.

@@babyeolsoo as someone from the UK I have had a rather intense experience of that! People in America constantly talk about Britain and England as if they are the same thing, so one day all I simply did was try to educate people that Britain/UK include multiple different countries, but England is just England, so you can't say Britain/British when you mean England/English. Good lord. I was called a colonizer, I had people insulting me and absolutely enraged like I was being an awful person, mocking them, saying horrible things. And Americans kept repeatedly comparing it to their different states/accents and refused to acknowledge that their comparison was wrong as I wasn't talking about different counties, I was talking about different countries. Even when I said it is like calling Mexico, Canada and Hawaii "America", people still kept comparing Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England, to being like Louisiana and Ohio. They just would not listen that it's completely different countries! And like I said, they were so angry and nasty at me for simply talking about this! It's sad that everything needs to be simplified and structured around Americans. I dunno what it's like in Europe/Portugal, but here in England everything is getting really Americanised and it is sad to see sometimes
@babyeolsoo
@babyeolsoo 10 ай бұрын
@@kierancampire I totally understand you and i'm sorry that you had to go through that. In my case I have to constantly explain to people that Portugal is a contry NEXT to Spain and NOT PART of spain, I even heard once that we're a city in spain, ffs. In europe I'd say we are more educated on the world, we learn it in school and if not we learn it from watching TV/youtube and stuff like that. I can't generalise all europeans but i'd say we're more aware of countries as countries and where they belong, even tho we use america, africa and asia as a general concept we do know how to distinguish when referring to a country instead of saying "i tried asian food" we easily say "I tried X country's food", we dont really care about people not knowing where it is because google exists and if you don't know a simple search will immediatly tell you. Which is why I think in europe we are more aware of the world and cultures independently because we go look for it if we have a doubt. Again I can't speak for other european countries, my experience is limited to the people I know and a few countries I visited around here. Also a side note I have an ex from London and a portuguese friend currently living in Scotland and their experience with americans is pretty similar to yours. Only my ex had to explain the same as you and my portuguese friend has to explain that portugal is not part of Spain, not to mention that she has to convince people she's from here and not indian (for some reason everyone thinks she looks indian and they refuse to believe her)
@kierancampire

@@babyeolsoo see, that is just what I don't get! Nobody knows everything, and people hold incorrect views, and there is a difference in personal opinion and fact. But if someone is trying to correct/educate you on something factual, why would anyone choose to be wilfully ignorant and incorrect and not listen, and beyond that, argue it still? I don't understand willingly and consciously choosing to be incorrect on something? And to argue with someone about their nationality? I just don't get it? But yeah, I mean, personally from the Europeans I have spoken to, I would agree that generally you're all quite good about the specifics and being well knowledged! In particular I find that especially true with Germans! So I would agree that generally people in Europe seem a lot more knowledged about the world. I'm sorry you and others you know have experienced the same issues I have had! It's so frustrating!

We have digital screens at McDonald’s here in the US as well. In fact I don’t think I have been to one in that several years that wasn’t a digital menu.

We don't call chicken on a bun a "chicken burger" unless it was made with ground chicken. Just because it's on a round bun, it's not a chicken burger, it's a chicken sandwich. If you put cold cuts or tuna fish on the same bun, it wouldn't be called a burger. To be a burger, it must be made with some type of ground meat or vegetable.

You should visit Karlsruhe Germany all of these chains have places here as well but are a lot different to the ones you tried in the video here. Would love a reaction to that.
