Gojira - Global Warming LIVE drum cover. Gojira absolutely nailed this monster of a song live at The Silver Chord Studio. The song's climate change message is hauntingly beautiful and “We will see our children growing” perfectly finishes the song. The verse groove is simple and yet tricky to play if you have bad left hand technique (like me haha). As usual, Mario provides a groove infused take on metal drumming and it was a pleasure to perform.
I’m currently back at school now but will still be uploading videos somewhat consistently. Audio recorded using my Presonus Studiolive 16.0.2 mixer and and edited on GarageBand. Video captured using one camera angle and edited on iMovie. Thank you for watching!

your covers are always just so spot on! excellent work. I think Mario Duplantier might have written the foot work in this as a rest song in the set...the left arm burn though, ouch

Just a tip (assuming you're a beginner and not talking about getting back into drumming), you will 100% get frustrated trying to learn to play up to Gojira's level of drumming. Don't let that discourage you. Gojira is a difficult band to cover and it'll take time to learn how Mario does it but eventually you'll make it. Good luck

Konrad iAnonimous Exactly, it’s all about focusing on that end product. Are you going acoustic or electronic for your kit?
@KonradiAnonimous
@KonradiAnonimous 5 жыл бұрын
@@lewisjones284 Propably electronic. In my opinion acoustic still the best but buying acoustic to my room would be bad idea when I don't have the most place for it and can't fix problem with sound in whole home
@lewisjones284
@lewisjones284 5 жыл бұрын
Konrad iAnonimous that’s a fair point, the main reason from what I’ve seen with e-kit players is that they can’t play full volume where they live. As long as you can convert it to the kit it’s fine, which can be a problem with some of the lower end e-kits. My e-kit was 800 dollars and still rebounded an unrealistic amount. Another thing you can do is try silent stroke heads and cymbals and see whether they would dampen the noise enough. Nothing can beat an acoustic kit at the end of the day

Do you perhaps have a loose tension on the snare drum head? If so, try to tune it a little tighter and just use the natural bounce to get used to the feel.

@@xSTONYTARKx i play at a pretty high tension, i guess getting used to playing the softer notes in conjunction with the accented ones is kinda awkward for me
@xSTONYTARKx
@xSTONYTARKx 5 жыл бұрын
Maybe then it would help to take the snare drum out of the kit. And then play this beat only on the snare drum just accenting every 3rd right hand stroke. Orr.. maybe it's something else. Can you perform a clean doublestroke roll? If not, then maybe first work on a clean doublestroke roll en then just switch to singles on the right when the doublestroke roll is clean. Obviously for this it would work best to play with a click
