It's great to see you take your game to the golf course and explore a variety of situations. I'd like to see more of that. Nice eagle at the end! I made my first ever a couple of months ago using the Setup-for-impact swing.

Thanks David, It was a good six hole round!! I expected to hit some bad shots so I could show more interesting shots, but hit the ball well instead. Next time will likely not be as good, but will be more learning material.

Really smooth and consistent swing and thought process. I've played around with the swing and am getting straighter and more predictable shots. Need to work through the drills to get the feel down, but that's on me!

What a great shot to go home on! Looked like the new drill 2 swing for the eagle. Kirk, I have to believe you are a good bit longer than most of your followers and students, would you consider talking about how you would advise a student who hopes to carry say 220-240 with a driver approach the holes you’re playing while your on the tee? I think that would bring even more value to a wider range of your subscribers. Looking forward to the next round you share!

Hi Harris, My first advise would be to start from a tee farther up so that the hole plays shorter for you. Golfers tend to play the course much longer than need be. If you are having trouble reaching par 4s in two with iron shots then I would move up to a tee that is shorter.

Hi. Your system has saved my game. At 75 i have noticed a decline in my game,but with your videos everything has changed for the good. I noticed that in a video from way back , 9 years, your setup was with your weight more to the right than now , and your stance is closed. I believe you now said it it easier with a slightly open stance with only a slight shift to the right. Is this because you find it better over all.

The original Setup 4 Impact method was called Minimalist single plane swing which was built to help those who had severe slicing issues. I found that customizing the concept would help every golfer. Wrists are fully cocked at the top of the backswing as in any good swing. I setup with the wrists uncocked. My most recent videos here on my channel show you best how to proceed.

I normally play one tournament a year, which is the US Golf Teachers Cup. Golf instructors from all over the USA compete over two days at it. I normally play in the Seniors division as I am 58 years old.

Kirk - do I need to adjust the lie angle on my irons in order to use your method that has me standing closer to the ball?

You may need more upright irons if you move closer to the ball at setup. I recommend starting out keeping the same distance as before unless it is obvious that you need to stand closer. In which case if necessary most clubs can be adjusted.

You need to push with both the back and front foot in order to get the hips and body open by impact.

Check your aim. Most people would swear they are lined up correctly when in fact they are really lined up to the right of target. If the club face is open through impact then strengthen the leading hand grip.

What do you think of golf one non tapered grips. Over size?

I think that non tapered grips are a bad idea. The taper in a grip makes it easier to hold onto. That is whey the end of the grip has always been thicker. Like the bulge in a baseball bat helps you hold on. I prefer the Jumbomax Ultralite grip. More info on sizing and a discount at setup4impact.com/faq/

Probably. This accounts for droop of the shaft into impact which happens on all swings.

Looks like your grips are oversized. Is that because your hands are larger than normal, or you prefer that type of grip.

I find that thicker grips fit better for most people. I have tested this with many clients and around 80% hit the ball better just because of thicker grips. I have more info on which grips are best and sizing at setup4impact.com/faq/
