Filling in the tournament gaps between 2000 and 2002, Gonzaga followed up a seemingly lucky Elite 8 appearance with a Sweet 16 lost to Purdue in 2000, which had a pre-tournament 1932 championship, but has since been one of the other best programs to make a title game without a title in the tournament era. In 2001, Gonzaga lost in the Sweet 16 to a Tom Izzo coached Michigan State team that is STILL the last Big 10 team to win a championship. In 2002, my parents, both graduates of the U of Wyoming were cheering for Gonzaga against the jeers of family that I thought a bit too confident. I remember at the end of the game, the ball was a hot potato on offense for Gonzaga.

The Zags / UConn rivalry continues... UConn knocked them out in the Elite 8 in 1999, and against in 2023. The Gonzaga / UConn Battle in Seattle final was crazy... don't remember where I was but I was driving and the radio kept going in and out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/md6PmJmDmbWWp3k.html

Great use of In the Hall of the Mountain King! And I love that you dedicated it to Carl. Good work, Michael!

Adam Morrison is still my all time favorite GU player, ever. He was truly amazing and so fun to watch. Dan Dickau was really fun to watch as well. Both of these studs are part of GU history and it was a joy to witness it all. The ride ain't over though! Time to go get that national championship for Mark Few, Spokane, and the rest of Zag nation. Let's GOOOO!!! 🏀🔥🔥🔥🏆

Holy shit at 6:55 if hits that shot, that’s almost identical to what Suggs just did against UCLA. That’s actually scary how similar that would’ve been.

An important story is that 4 Minnesota players were suspended the day before the game against Gonzaga. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Minnesota_basketball_scandal

@8:34 LOL I think "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" would have been a better cue for Morrison than "Jump"

I feel really bad for Gonzaga. I was rooting for them against Baylor. I think they were exhausted.

Ironic that right now, 2021, Gonzaga is undefeated and playing for a Natl. Championship! Oh how far they've come!

It almost makes me feel bad about what WSU did to them in 2013 - almost. I was expecting that game to show up here too.

I remember that lol. I knew they'd fuck up in the tournament after that butler game

You just had to ZOOM in on that train wreck of a tournament game against UCLA and stayed there for a few too many uncomfortable moments. That was traumatic in 2006... and it hasn't got any easier to watch.

Lmao how THE FUCK was a 17-10 team a 7 seed. The big 10 has been overrated since the dawn of time

Even if this was 2015 it should be called " A Modern Miracle ". School almost cut the program in 1998 . What a joke of a video title.

A consistent underachieving basketball program that losses the big 1 every single time after winning 30+ games. What a miracle

Noo the ‘06 team wasn’t going to be the team to win it all anyways. Morrison and that was the only option when it comes to scoring on the team. The best years for the Zags to win it s as ok would have been ‘17 or 14. Morrison’s team was all about him and in march madness that won’t get you far. It did get them to the sweet sixteen but that’s where the wheels fell off in a way I was glad. If that’s your only option to win it’s gonna catch up to ya sooner or and it did in the biggest stage.

Who’s here after the loss LOL
@jonathanwilliams52352 жыл бұрын
NO. The ‘06 team was only about one person and that is the reason why they lost in the 2nd Round. Ya can’t win it all with a one man team like Adam Morrison of Gonzaga. Nope. 👎

I think you have the completely wrong perspective on most of this. Adam Morrison team had no shot at title with that porous defense and they really didn’t have their first real shot at a title till 2015. Defense wasn’t a priority till 2014. That’s when Gonzaga became legit. This seems like a lazy and not thought out description of what has happened. Thanks but I’ll skip the rest

Lets be honest Adam Morrision was one of ghe most emtional play but he was one of the best GU player 2006 was the year a d that was the year that started yes they blew the lead but look over the years our defence got better and better.They were legit I wpould say when mark few became head couch but what set them up to be really good was 2006 after that they got better (I think i going to do reserach) Also this his opion and only part 1.Anyways 2020 was the year to me that we could have won the national title.like i saiid they became legit after 2006 either way pur defence got better and better as the years go by and our offence Go Zags!

Ray Giacoletti began the process of being defensive minded when he was hired as an assistant coach in 2008. Look at the defensive metrics and prove me wrong.

You realize they were a #1 overall seed in 2012 right? Seems like you dont know what you're talking about.

@JohnsonSaUceZach3 жыл бұрын
He was overrated, but not in a way many people understand. He was playing with type 1 diabetes, and that was hard for him playing an NBA schedule vs a 2 game a week college schedule.
@jonathanwilliams52353 жыл бұрын
@@JohnsonSaUceZach true. The other reason why I didn’t like that years team was everything ran through him which made the team vulnerable if he was having a bad game. Which is what happened in March madness when they lost to UCLA. So Yes you made a good point
