Hello everyone! In this video I reflect on 2020 and speak about my plans for my art in 2021. I’m also showcasing the handmade watercolour paints that Mariah Beth and I collaborated on this year. I definitely agree with you that I felt like I was over-working myself these past few months and realized how important it is to evaluate how sustainable that work load would be. It's good to be reminded that resting and taking a break is also vital to the quality of the content being put out - very well put! Ahh so excited for you and for the content that you'll make next year - it's going to be stellar! I'm positive you'll figure out gouache - I believe in you!!

Yes, James! Take the time you need, if you need to take a break. We'll always be here for you after your much needed break! When I was at a time when I do compromise for the things I do love, I realize that I am really exhausting myself. After that, it just dawned on me that people will stay with you even after you take a short or long hiatus. 🥰 By the way, I also love seeing you paint with those needle-point brushes! It just makes me feel really happy.

This might seem weird, but a tip for gouache is not to over think it. I watched a lot of tutorials and it stressed me out but I found my own way of using gouache and it works for me. 💖 I also feel I have more control if I rewet it vs straight from the tube

i remember commenting about handmade watercoours here and u actually replied, lmao i still remember it yes, i made my own handmade wtaercolours as well, cough i am still experimenting with the pigments, i tried making prussian blue but the pigments wont mix, i do recommend arleebean for making handmade watercolours. oh yeah i forgot to mention the yellow ochre i made is a successful, i am not sure yet, id like to mull it for a longer time if i could make it, possibly a smoother consistency than i have, it is highly pigmented as well, but of course i cant beat yours, anyway i came back since you really helped me on skintones, thank you sir and yes your art style made an impact on my memory,

i am trying oil painting next week probably, still contemplating, i should warn you about overmaking the paints, itll be a hassle on using it since itll last longer than u would imagine,

I'm glad you're taking a look at how much you put out there and how often. I've seen a lot of creators talking about this recently (this is an interesting and thoughtful twitter thread about it twitter.com/fatherrich_/status/1343000927448535043) and feel it applies to even us amateurs who share our fanworks - that temptation to keep posting to gain the endorphin hit a kind comment gives is strong! Anyhow - you know I love your painting, and I'd love to see more random sketches and you having fun as well as doing more polished content - whatever you feel like, really. Your plans for 2021 sound good. Man, I'd love to get back to life drawing too - one day! Now we have the Oxford vaccine approved, maybe things will move a bit quicker...

Thank you James for this video and for this very delicate painting (I can finally have some time to watch it peacefully). Don’t overpush yourself, take some pauses, and sometimes having days (or even weeks) without drawing anything could be very important to refresh your mind. Take care of you. We love your art and videos but you’re most important than publishing content at any case 😊 Sorry for my English I can’t really say what I mean but preserve yourself from burning out.
