@@sussex33 Actually I was taking in what I was watching and getting emotional to when symbols such as the removal of the crown, orb and scepter were removed to signify the end of Elizabeth II's reign. Seeing Charles III getting emotional as they sang God Save the King as yet another reminder that yes he's King but that means his mother is truly gone and now he bears the weight of what being the new Monarch means.

More than one tear, lucky to have a crappy webcam so the constant flow wasn't seen. Though when rendering the video I did see my lip shaking a lot. And yeah... my fellow countrymen leave a lot to be desired, and luckily I understand a heck of a lot more of non-American customs than the average American. Failure to learn from others just withers away your own understanding.

@ RipGhyll I would like to add my very resounding THANK YOU's to this honourable and caring American for remaining quiet through the service I was STUNNED by his respect for Her Late Majesty and his kindness towards the British people, some very poor examples of which are evident by their insulting comments on this channel. I am 80 and have been a monarchist all my life, I have served the Late queen in the military and have always, repeat always, loved her deeply for who she was and everything that she represented. GOD SAVE THE KING God Bless The Late Queen Elizabeth II and the British Royal Family. To the vulgar naysayer commoners I say GO AND LIVE IN RUSSIA. LIVING IN A REPUBLIC RUN BY A SELF-AGGRANDISING MAD MAN MIGHT JUST WAKE YOUR SORRY HEARTS UP TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT YOU HAD & WILL NEVER HAVE AGAIN. I FEEL SORRY THAT YOU NEVER WENT TO SCHOOL AND THAT YOU LOST YOUR SWEETIES ON THE WAY TO THE HEROIN DEN THIS MORNING. UNLIKE OUR GRACIOUS LATE MONARCH I CAN BE VULGAR TOO, JUST LIKE YOU TWATS. AND IGNORANT, AND HATEFUL. IF YOU'D CROSSED MY SIGHTS WHILE I SERVED HER MAJESTY YOU'D BE PUSHING UP DAISIES BY NOW. NO HONOUR !!

The symbolism accumulated over a thousand years is both simple and breathtaking. Hearing God Save The King sung after 70 years without it was, like the removal of the articles of state, deeply moving. So what if the British seem old fashioned, this had meaning.

Elizabeth II's death should remind us why the UK has a monarchy (there has been much publicity, not much thought about why the late queen matters). Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor just as material to fill space in the media. The achievement of the British monarchy should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, and Scotland have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace". Of course King Charles III's first marriage was a tragic mistake; Prince Philip could be tactless; he & Elizabeth II made mistakes as parents. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the unity the monarchy gives the UK & the world. By stabilizing Britain & the commonwealth (e.g. Canada & Australia), it promotes peace in the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century; likewise over world war, loss of empire, economic failure, or race in the 20th. There will always be violence and political problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy and the stability it brings. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.
