Today I am going to show you how to change the screen on the Google Pixel 4 XL. For what the phone is, the screen is cheap, but a little difficult to replace.

I want to say thank you for this awesome video. I wasn't sure I would be able to do it myself (minor experience doing stuff like this), but after seeing your video I was determined to do it myself. I was quoted 309.99 plus tax for the screen repair, I also had to change the battery due to it not working neither (109.99 + tax). I bought all the parts needed, LCD, battery, including the glue, clamps, (already had hot air machine) for about 105. Was able to repair successfully and now I am a happy camper. Thank you Brother!

When you get to the part when you have to feed the lcd ribbon cable through the frame, simply loosen most of the torx screws on the motherboard, and disconnect the rest of the ribbon cables, then the motherboard will be able to lift just enough that you can get the lcd ribbon cable through. make sure you clip the lcd ribbon cable on first, then set the lcd screen in place, if you don't you may end up sticking the new lcd on the frame and the ribbon cable won't line up, which means you'll have to heat it up and try again. good luck.

Thanks for the guide, fixed my phone today. One thing that had me stumped for a bit is inserting the screen cable through the tiny hole on the side. I wonder if there is an easy way to push it through.

Is it the same process for replacing the standard Pixel 4 screen? I've seen other guides where they go through the back and totally rebuild the phone on top of the new screen.

I ordered the part "with frame", thinking it'd be slightly easier -- did I do the wrong thing? Seems like perhaps there's a way to just move all the guts over to the new frame easier than dealing with the glue around the screen (on front)? Do you know? (Thanks, great video by the way!)

hey man great video - i gave my P4XL to a Google certified repair shop to replace my screen. They were not able to stick the back cover on after 5 visits - kept telling me it was a seal that wasnt working and that they used a 3xl seal because they didnt have the right part. It looks like its just glue! My back cover is still partially coming off. I noticed when i would charge the phone at night it would expand. What type of glue is this? At this point im down to clamp it and reglue it myself

You list "Double-sided adhesive" as part of the supply list but I don't recall seeing you use it. What is it for and do I need it do replace the front glass?
@RealWorldReview
@RealWorldReview 4 жыл бұрын
It is part of the list of tools I put on all my videos. I wouldn’t recommend it for the screen, but I generally replace the adhesive for the back, so that’s where you can use it. Those things aren’t entirely required for every repair, but they’re nice for other repairs if this isn’t the only one.

Got my pixel 4 xl screen broken recently and according to my sources no one is making unoriginal copies of the display as the phone was not that popular. I guess that's a good thing as all of the parts only are legitimate lmao

What's a safe temp for the phone when heating up?
@RealWorldReview
@RealWorldReview 4 жыл бұрын
The heat gun I use goes from 600-1200F, but if you use a heating pad 150-250F should be enough. Generally I use the heat gun for 3-5 seconds on one spot and move around. You can feel the pressure, which will let you know if to use more heat or not.

@justjaaay696
@justjaaay696 3 жыл бұрын
Not really, getting the water resistance back is pretty hard to do once the phone has been opened. You'd need to use special watersealing glue and also make sure that all of the potential entrance for the water is sealed shut. But basically once opened, better not try submerging phone in the water.

Right now looks like for an OEM part ( an original part ) its like $70-$110 in America at least. Ifixit.com or witrigs.com Also the ifixit kits are great! (the heat sponge for melting the screen glue isn't that good though, i would recommend a heatgun or hair dryer)

Hi, great video.I was told there are different quality of screens. Local phone repair places gave me two options 1. Google original screen(includes more than the screen like the part with the side buttons) $420. Includes labor. 2. After market screen, I think only the screen part. $220. Includes labor. I was told this one can break more easily, it's not gorilla Glass. I don't really mind it as the google option can get me a whole pixel4xl. But does non google screen display images just like the original? In 90hz? Thanks.

Yeah, feeding the cable though can be difficult, but the Pixel 4 line seems slightly easier than the Pixel 3 line. At least with the Pixel 4 you aren’t forced to remove the logic board to replace the screen
